Models, keychains and their interchangeability.

Key fobs of older models come in three types: two-button, three-button and five-button. In the photographs, unfortunately, there are only two types; two-button key fobs have a rectangular and black body with square buttons.

Three-button key fobs are found on the Super-Nova2 and Saber2 models. Five-button - the most common type of key fob; it is equipped with alarm systems of Cyber-5.9 models; Concept-10,20,40,50,60; AvantGuard-3; Intelliguard-700,800,900, etc. The color of the key fob body can be gray, black or wood.

The last type of key fob can replace three-button key fobs, but I haven’t tried the reverse operation. I can add that very often the large central button of the key fob fails; replacing the button helps. The key fob LED is also often unsoldered.

Key fobs may not be interchangeable due to different operating frequencies. American standard band 315MHz, domestic band 433MHz.

Sirens.

I already wrote about Clifford sirens in the article Clifford alarm sirens. There is no point in repeating ourselves. The only thing that can be added is that the Medallion siren is a powerful speaker, the control circuit is assembled in the alarm unit itself, and if you replace it with a simple siren speaker, the latter can quickly burn out. A frequent malfunction occurred in the form of burnout of the output stage on transistors TIP 31 and TIP 32 working specifically for this siren.

Job instability.

This sore spot alarm data. The fact is that when the power is turned off, there is a slow drop in voltage on the alarm processor, then the generator malfunctions and the alarm goes into an incomprehensible mode. We have often been contacted with a similar problem, and sometimes it is enough for the alarm unit to simply lie on the table for several hours to completely discharge all capacitors. And then manipulations with the “Valet” button and key fobs revive the alarm.

If the key fob still does not come to life, then it makes sense to try to program it again (or the key fob (alarm) does not work. Part 1 or the key fob (alarm) does not work. Part 2). If the Clifford has a coded "Jack" mode, then you need to know the code or try the factory code "2". If all the above operations do not help, then it makes sense to change the memory chip. The values ​​of the microcircuits are usually erased. The memory chip has eight legs and is located next to the processor. Instead, you need to solder a new, obviously clean (from the store) 93LC46 (or 93C46). Then, turning on the power, try entering code “2”, possibly repeating the last operation several times. Next, you need to program the key fobs and all functions according to the table for this model, strictly following all the conditions and notes.

Chip ratings.

In addition to the memory chip, I only had to change one worn-out chip. It was ULN20003, it is responsible for the operation of the relay central lock, blocking, additional channels, etc. Therefore, calculating it is not very difficult.

Functions of programming tables.

There are situations when, after a failure in the alarm system, undocumented functions are activated. This happened with the Saber 2 model. The programming table does not indicate the item for controlling the central locking by turning on the ignition switch. In this case, you can try to turn on or off a function not indicated in the table, not forgetting that two siren signals indicate on, and one off. If the necessary changes in the operation of the alarm do not occur, then it is better to return the function state back.

Important: When replacing a memory chip or other failures, it is advisable to program the state of functions without connecting the alarm to the car. Because Some functions, such as the operating time of the central locking system, can disable automotive equipment.

Shock sensor.

Several times there was a sensor malfunction on the Cyber ​​9 model; it simply did not work, regardless of the adjustment. Upon opening, the destruction of the TLC272CP (A) microcircuit was discovered.

Volume sensor.

On Cyber ​​- 5 models, false alarms often occur due to self-excitation of this sensor. This is usually determined by LED self-diagnosis. Over time, the sensor board became very dusty and oxidized from condensation; with the client’s consent, this sensor was removed. Of course, washing with alcohol and a brush would probably revive the sensor, but since this removes part of the protective layer of the board, oxidation can occur very quickly, especially in winter.
