Vesta Cross VS Lada XRAY: an unbiased comparison of the flagships of the domestic automobile industry. Compare the Lada Vesta sedan and the Lada X Ray hatchback Vesta and X Ray clearance

We bring to your attention a comparative review and test drive Lada Xray and Lada Vesta from Peter the Less.

We tested the Lada Vesta and Lada X-ray cars in a purely Russian way: we drove through the bitter cold, lake ice, and climbed a mountain in a dense forest. We measured our heroic strength...

Video review and comparison test Lada Vesta vs Lada X-ray, technical specifications at the end of our article.

As usual, in the Russian forest there are mounds and snags sticking out everywhere, but you still have to get to the lake with ice. But it was agreed that the rival brothers with a rook in their foreheads would have a double event: drag a skier on a lake and drive up the highest forest mountain.

They are similar in their modern construction and similar design, but internally and conceptually they are different. Vesta is a fundamentally new VAZ model, which was prepared in Togliatti for almost a decade. X-ray is a product of modification of the French Renault hatchback Sandero Stepway, which in turn is derived from the time-tested, reliable Logan.

So what is better: our own domestic development (Vesta sedan) or almost complete borrowing (high hatchback X-ray)? The testing ground for the research was a sand quarry, where the air temperature dropped to minus 15 degrees. By the way, it would be nice to lock the gas tank flap on both cars. We can not only drain gasoline, but also pour water into the tank in winter.

Before a fight you need to warm up. The thermometer shows minus 13. Xray for 100 kg. lighter than Vesta, but even to him the prospect of going out on the still thin ice of the lake seems like a gamble.

After a night in the city it was easy to get started. The Lada Vesta - Lada Xray test will take place 50 km from the Moscow Ring Road, outside the city with two cars it is calmer.

On idling It is difficult to warm up the Lada Vesta engine, so don’t even expect warm air from it. After starting, the engine drops to 800 rpm, like a computer that has fallen asleep. What did they change for the VAZ 16-valve engine: the cooling system, the program, the thermostat in pursuit of Euro standards? I don’t know, but here and now I’m cold.

Engine: petrol 1.6 (106 hp), M5 - from 514,000 rubles, 1.6 (106 hp) P5 - from 569,000 rubles.

Vesta has a general heated windshield, but no heated wiper zone. I tapped the brushes and tried to move them, but they froze tightly. KIA RIO, for example, does not allow itself this.

In Vesta you can drive tens of kilometers, but the glass will still remain mixed with ice. Here the heated windshield is turned on with the same button that turns on the heating rear window and mirrors. And so, if you need to warm up the mirrors, the windshield heats up at the same time. When driving for a long time, dirt readily sticks to the hot glass, and washer consumption increases. Vesta's windshield washers are antediluvian single-jet, Lada X-ray's are no better.

Lada-Vesta: Vesta has a lot of plugs, please install a separate button for heating the windshield, like the Lada X-ray. The armrest will not fall if you lower it smoothly, and then click to catch the desired level; it cannot stand above the horizon. But it’s convenient to drive with it with a robot, but with a manual it might get in the way.

The Vesta's interior is cool even after a 20-minute drive. The engine does not warm up for a long time and does not produce the expected heat. Finally, having warmed up, it can drive either hot air or cool air. The temperature knob doesn't help; fan control is more effective.

Lada Vesta likes to open the hood while driving and turn on the interior lights. The culprit was a rubber stop screwed in too deeply on the hood, which presses on the limit switch after closing. A home-grown recipe for treatment is to unscrew the “lamb” a couple of threads. But I personally am against self-medication. Suddenly the hood opens again (it has already opened twice - this is the system), and even while driving it flies onto the foggy glass!

Opening the trunk from the key fob and from the passenger compartment. Make a button on the outside, like the X-ray. The trunk is roomy - you can easily fit two pairs of skis. Hidden somewhere in the depths of this place is a flimsy L-shaped jack - a regurgitation of post-Soviet components. The trunk lid hinges eat up space. The Lada X-ray has a narrow seat back on the right, while the Vesta has a narrow seat back on the left (the right is more comfortable).

While driving around the city, I did not understand the algorithm of the robotic box. I press the pedal, waiting for acceleration. The robot switches to third, but there is no power, we wait, the robot thinks, then switches, but I don’t need it anymore. I mostly used the manual mode: pedal to the metal, pause for 1.5 seconds, and off we go.
The robot relieves stress on the left leg, but puzzles the right arm.

The Lada Vesta's engine is dynamic and flexible. At 50 km/h in fifth gear in manual mode it quickly accelerates to 80 km/h. Traction on low revs enough. In the manual version from Renault, you might like the duo.

The suspension of the Lada Vesta is knocked down, dense, stiffer than that of the “ten” but not tooth-crushing, quite comfortable. The plastic is still quiet, the gaps in the body are invisible.

We have already written about the size of the glove compartment and the multimedia capabilities of the Lada Vesta, let's go shake the Lada X-ray.

The engine here heats up faster than in Vesta, but the climate control makes them very similar.

There is a trunk opening button on the outside, but you still have to feel it.

There is a rear view camera, it shows passably, but it quickly gets dirty, after one trip you can no longer see anything.

The mirrors in the driver's sun visor do not close; there will be extraneous glare. Remove the mirror or make it with a curtain, like the Lada X-ray.

There was a rut in the parking lot. The rear wheels came out, but the front ones did not. A button to disable the stability control system would help here, but the X-ray does not offer it. If you did, you turned off the system, the front wheels dug up the snow, and you were free, but you had to ask passers-by for help.

The suspension of the Lada X-ray is more comfortable, and it does not roll. A couple of times I caught myself braking from 60 km/h, the rear wheels trying to overtake the front ones, apparently the ABS did not have time to work. We had to stop braking and stabilize the car again.

A small trunk, a raised floor without an organizer - bottles will roll around.

Getting in and out at the rear is the worst thing about the Lada Xray.

We need to make a sliding rear seat.

In first gear at a speed of 35-40 km/h, the engine spins to the cutoff and fades out at 6 thousand rpm. The Xray takes off with a heavy trailer and is gentle on the clutch. Second, third, fourth gears are close. The Renault engine in fifth gear is a little lacking, it doesn’t pull from 50 km/h, the arrow tells you to shift down.

We were ready to give the victory to X-Ray in absentia - after all, it lays claim to the crossover laurels. However, upon closer examination, the serial Vesta turned out to be almost on the same level with X-Ray. We couldn't believe our eyes and took up the roulette wheel. That’s right - under the thresholds of both cars there is about 20 cm.

Vesta, despite its impressive ground clearance, listens well to the steering wheel and reliably takes turns. The suspension is assembled, bordering on stiff, but we never saw any breakdowns during the test. X-Ray, despite being a relative, is completely different. Where Vesta consistently detects cracks on the asphalt, the crossover noticeably smoothes them out. The steering wheel is heavier here, but this does not lead to improved directional stability - the driver is constantly forced to squeeze it tighter than in Vesta. When turning, you also have to feel for the trajectory.

In the “skier towing” discipline, Vesta tore the X-ray into the snow fluff. Watch the video at the end of the article.

On the ice of the lake, the contrast between the two “modes” intensified. Despite the brake robot, Vesta is FIRE. I can’t even believe that the electric power steering gives the driver excellent reactive force. The stabilization system is turned off, but at 60 km/h it is activated again, although with intense wheel slip, even at higher speeds, the electronics do not interfere, allowing you to enjoy the ride.

Without this, the car is no more to me than a personal tram, and it won’t see my money. X-Ray is just like that, even with a more powerful engine, with mechanics, with studded tires that are more tenacious than Vesta’s, it’s a VEGETABLE on ice!

On the ice of the lake, X-ray followed his own course, ignoring the driver’s driving mood.

For a comparative test, we got two Ladas with different power units, although the choice of power units is the same.

Vesta with a 1.6 liter Togliatti engine, 106 hp. and a robot.

X-Ray with more modern engine Nissan. It also has a displacement of 1.6 liters, but with a power of 110 hp, it also has a little more torque and a Renault manual gearbox. This combination is just about to appear on Vesta, so we don’t know its prices yet and are only comparing our own feelings, without adjusting for rubles.

The X-Ray's interior is quieter and the engine runs more noble - you can feel the French school, but the engine itself does not inspire feats. In the most important range up to 2500 rpm, it works lazily, but without a hint of detonation, and only with increasing speed does it reveal its potential. On Vesta, the engine pulls from the bottom with a dissatisfied rumble, quieter than in Lada Granta, but the howls of the VAZ gearbox still break into the cabin. Tolyatti residents are proud of this robot; it is truly one of the best and is definitely more efficient than the Easy-R transmission on the Sandero. Starting in the city is smooth and this is pleasant, but delays during switching still annoy me.

In terms of interior dimensions, a longer wheelbase sedan is preferable. A low front panel with impressive high-quality plastic inserts creates a feeling of spaciousness even in the front, and Vesta is the undisputed leader in terms of legroom. The sloping roof puts a little pressure on the head, but only passengers over 180 cm tall will feel this. In the X-Ray, the rear passengers behind the 181 cm tall driver stably support the backrest with their knees, and entering and exiting the car is not too easy. But there is plenty of room overhead.

IN Lada Vesta You can sit comfortably in the back even with ski boots and a helmet (see video).
The trunks are also completely different. X-Ray, despite being 8 centimeters longer than Sandero, is still noticeably inferior to Vesta, and this is felt not only in the cabin.

So at tea we almost gave the palm to Vesta, but there was one more trick ahead where X-ray could snatch victory.
We are preparing to climb the mountain; to tell the truth, it is almost a vertical wall.

Lada Vesta won almost a whole body length over Lada X-ray when climbing uphill. To the left of rear wheel there is a stick - the Xray front bumper stopped here. Details in the video below.

So, X-ray is generally great, but he needs to train. Our test Lada Vesta - Lada X-ray was won by Lada Vesta. We are sure she can fly even higher than that snow-capped mountain. But we do not undertake to predict the flight in conditions of rising exchange rates and import substitution.

Comparative technical characteristics of Lada Xray vs Lada Vesta

Immediately after the start of sales, Lada Vesta caused a stir among motorists. Many of those who were looking for a car in a budget price segment, began to consider this model more in depth. Ultimately, the majority of motorists preferred Vesta over models from foreign manufacturers, which cost more. However, after the start of sales of the Lada-X-Ray, buyers began to think about what to choose - a cheaper sedan or a roomy city hatchback. Some car enthusiasts still have not found an answer to this question. Therefore, it will be considered in more detail. We will compare "Vesta" and "X-Ray" below.

Main differences between the models

The main difference, judging by the reviews, between the Lada-Vesta and the Lada-X-Ray is that the sedan is a car developed completely from scratch. Its development continued for quite a long period, but they began to talk about Vesta already in the early stages of construction. The model is popular because people have been waiting for its appearance for a long time. Regarding X-Ray, we can say that it was not developed from scratch. The model was based on no less than famous model Renault Sandero, and it was built on the basis of the Logan, which has been tested over the years by many taxi drivers in Russia.

In this case, people get confused in their choice. They think about what is better to choose - new developments and sensations or a reliable platform that has long proven itself to be good. So far there are no exact answers to this dispute. All differences will be discussed in more detail below. Which is better - Vesta or X-Ray?

Body

Some drivers choose a car based on the prestige of a particular brand. However, in this case this factor is minimal, since both models are produced by the same company. Many people judge prestige by looking at the body; they differ between Vesta and X-Ray.

Vesta is produced only in a sedan body, but in the near future the plant is preparing to present other versions to the public: a version with increased ground clearance and a car with an extended wheelbase. The latter will be produced in limited quantities, but this version looks more prestigious than the others. Many VAZ car lovers are looking forward to these new items.

"X-Ray" is available for free sale only in the hatchback body. Some people believe that the model is a crossover, but this is not so. For fans of light off-road driving, AvtoVAZ is still preparing a version XRAY Cross, which can be considered a full-fledged crossover. Changes in the new product will be minimal: all-wheel drive, increased ground clearance, various body linings and other improvements.

If you like sedan cars, then it is best to choose the Lada-Vesta. If you like “pseudo-crossovers”, the size of which is slightly larger than that of other cars, then it is better to give preference to “X-Ray”. For station wagon lovers suitable options on at the moment no, but Vesta should soon appear in this body design. The same applies to those who like crossovers for overcoming light off-road conditions. AvtoVAZ is preparing Xray Cross for them.

Dimensions

Externally, the cars do not differ much from each other in size. However, if we look at everything in more detail, we can see that everything is different.

The Lada Vesta is almost 300 mm longer than the X-Ray, and therefore it is more comfortable due to its larger wheelbase. The cars are completely identical in width. The heights of the models are different: Vesta is 73 mm lower than X-Ray, although visually this difference seems larger. This is due, in particular, to the ground clearance - the X-Ray has 17 mm more and is equal to 195 mm, while the Vesta has 178 mm. Regarding capacity luggage compartment The sedan wins - its volume is 480 liters instead of 361 liters for the hatchback. Although the X-Ray looks larger in appearance, it weighs 40 kg less.

For those who value space and capacity, it is considered better to buy a Vesta; the X-Ray is less spacious. In addition, it is more comfortable due to its wheelbase. If there is a need to overcome light off-road conditions, then it is better to give preference to the X-Ray. It is worth noting that with the rear seats folded down, the luggage compartment volume of the hatchback increases to 1207 liters. Vesta does not have such an opportunity.

Appearance

You will notice if you compare the Lada-Vesta and the Lada-X-Ray that the exterior of these two models has the same features. This is due to the fact that after the start of sales, the Lada-Vesta began to enjoy enormous popularity and therefore the designers decided to make the X-Ray in a similar style. The front ends of the cars are almost identical. If you look closely, you can see the letter “X”, which is drawn by the headlights, radiator grille, fog lights and a bumper air intake. The models also have very similar hoods. However, when examining the cars from the side, it is noticeable that the X-Ray seems to have a shortened front part, unlike the Vesta. And yet it’s too early to say which is better: “Vesta” or “X-Ray”.

The models are also similar from the side. They have X-shaped patterns that make the cars look more modern. However, this makes "X-Ray" feel short. Vesta does not have this problem. Many owners complain that they install small diameter wheels on the X-Ray. However, the manufacturer installs 15- and 16-inch wheels on the model, but in the massive wheel arches such wheels seem very small. Some X-Ray owners immediately after purchase install larger radius wheels on it.

Which car is better: Lada-Vesta or X-Ray - it’s hard to say, the design has minimal differences. As mentioned above, cars differ only in body styles. Otherwise, they are almost the same, and there is no noticeable difference between them.

"Lada-Vesta" and "X-Ray": characteristics

An equally important criterion when choosing a car is its technical characteristics. They are different for Vesta and X-Ray. What? To answer this question, let's look inside the cars.

Power unit

Judging by the number of options offered, the hatchback wins. It is available for purchase from 3 different motors. Lada Vesta comes with only one engine option.

Both cars are equipped with a 106 hp engine. With. from AvtoVAZ. This engine was installed on others, so many people know about its reliability. It is 4-cylinder, 16-valve and has a distributed fuel injection complex. Of course, the motor is not the most powerful, but it is enough for these models. "Lada-Vesta" with this unit accelerates to 100 km/h in 11.2 s, while "X-Ray" does it longer by 0.2 s. In this indicator, the sedan wins. However, it is already losing in maximum speed: Vesta has 175 km/h, while X-Ray has 176 km/h. You will have to overpay a little for this, since Vesta’s consumption is on average 0.5 liters lower. With such an engine you shouldn’t count on exorbitant power, but it is more than enough for a quiet ride.

"Lada-Vesta" is presented only with this engine. X-Ray also has 2 more engine options. One of them is a 110 hp engine. pp., it is a joint development of the Renault-Nissan alliance. Its device is identical to the previous one. According to the engineers, the engine should have a power of 116 hp. s., however, it was reduced for some reasons. Thanks to innovations this engine has good traction and is more economical. Top speed has also increased to 181 km/h.

The 122 hp engine is still the most popular. With. and volume 1.8 l. It was developed by AvtoVAZ engineers. At the moment it is installed only in X-Ray. Thanks to a torque of 170 Nm, the engine accelerates the car to 100 km/h in just 10.9 s. The top speed has also increased compared to other variants and is 186 km/h. Fuel consumption has not increased here. This was achieved thanks to the innovations of engineers. The engine could accelerate the car even faster, but due to the fact that the robotic gearbox does not work perfectly, this is impossible. If this engine were installed with mechanics, then realizing the full power of the unit would be much easier.

If a powerful engine is important, then at the moment it is better to give preference to a car Lada X-Ray. In his motor range there is a powerful 122-horsepower engine, which is not available for Vesta. However, the company plans to fix this soon and begin installing the engine in the sedan. In this case, Vesta should become faster than X-Ray. Implementing this engine in a sedan is not the easiest task, so it is being postponed.

Transmission "Lada-Vesta" and "X-Ray"

In terms of checkpoints, everything is much simpler. The cars have almost identical boxes. Only a 5-speed manual transmission and a robot are installed here. Lada-Vesta is equipped with two options: a manual transmission, developed by AvtoVAZ employees, and AMT, a French-made robot.

Install checkpoint in X-Ray Russian production didn't. The model is equipped only with a French-made gearbox - these are JR5 512 and JH3 518. The operation of domestic and foreign gearboxes is not much different from each other. Both options shift gears smoothly and do not create extraneous noise and quite short-stroke.

Many cars in the same price category are equipped with automatic transmission, which is better according to reviews. "Vesta" or "X-Ray" do not have this. Only mechanics and robot are installed here. The management of the enterprise took such measures in order to reduce the cost of production, since the introduction and subsequent installation of the machine gun in cars would require additional costs. It is worth noting that the robot is sometimes late in changing gears and this causes jerking. But many Lada-Vest and X-Ray owners are used to this.

Suspension

Many argue that the Lada X-Ray is a crossover. However, this is not true. Proof of this is the lack all-wheel drive. The model is a hatchback with increased ground clearance. There are no disputes regarding Vesta.

Apart from the increased ground clearance, there are no more differences between the cars in terms of suspension. The front part has struts with springs and independent suspension. A torsion beam is installed at the rear.

Salon

The cars are very similar inside. And it’s impossible to say that Vesta is better than X-Ray. They have almost identical steering wheels, center panel design and seats. However, there are still differences. The interior of both models is well designed, all elements are well assembled. There are no squeaks or backlashes while driving. The seats are quite comfortable, however, on the rear sofa with the headrests lowered down, the seating position for passengers is uncomfortable, as they rest against the shoulder blades.

The interior of both models is equally good. It is very difficult to answer the question of which is better: “Vesta” or “X-Ray”. All elements are made from approximately the same materials. In terms of sound insulation, the differences are also minimal; it is at a decent level. The X-Ray is better here only because it is much more comfortable for tall passengers to sit in it due to the structure of the roof. It also has more luggage space with the seats folded down.

Options

Both cars are presented in 3 trim levels: classic, comfort and luxury. In the standard configuration, Vesta is equipped rather poorly. Of all the amenities here, only electric windows, on-board computer and 2 airbags. At X-Ray the situation is similar. In the average configuration, Vesta has body-colored door handles and rear-view mirrors, as well as a mirror in the passenger's sun visor. The X-Ray is equipped in the same way, but in addition it has 16-inch wheels. Luxury cars have the same equipment. All possible options are installed in them.

Price

In standard configuration, Vesta will cost the buyer 529 thousand rubles, while X-Ray with the same equipment will cost 589 thousand rubles. In the luxury version, the sedan costs 672 thousand rubles, the hatchback - 742 thousand rubles. You can also purchase Vesta in lime color, paying an additional 30 thousand rubles.

Which is better: Lada Vesta or X-Ray?

It’s a matter of everyone’s choice, because, as they say, there are no comrades according to taste. If you need a stylish sedan with low consumption and good traction, then Vesta is great option. If you want a crossover for off-road driving, but you are not ready for large expenses, then it is best to choose X-Ray.

Bottom line

In conclusion, it is worth noting that each of the cars under consideration is good in its own way. Both models are manufactured by the same company, so the quality of workmanship and power units are approximately the same. The main difference between cars is the cost. We hope you received the answer to the question of which is better: Lada-Vesta or X-Ray, and the reviews from the owners were useful to you.

I don’t know about anyone, but Boo Andersson hypnotizes me. Because you can look at three things endlessly - at fire, at water and at how Boo talks about his factory.

This is ours motor production. Assembly Renault engines H4Mk (114 hp) began on June 24 - two thousand units have already been sent to Avtoframos, by the end of the year we will make another nine thousand. We are also mastering the new 123-horsepower 1.8 VAZ-21179 engine, which will be used primarily for . Look how clean it is all around - Europe! We have invested millions of rubles in renovating toilets, changing rooms and workers' rest areas.

What does the president of AVTOVAZ care about toilets? Andersson cares about everything. And if one day it turns out that somewhere under his skin he has a powerful chip sewn in, I won’t be surprised: none of the top managers, neither ours nor “theirs,” dumped so much information on me in a unit of time.

And this assembly line B0 - XRAY will be interspersed with models from Almera. The main task for the near future is to begin trial assembly of Xray directly on the assembly line, and not in Pilot production. Oleg, when do we start?

The head of the project, Oleg Grunenkov, said: “In a week!” Leaning on his knee, Boo wrote the date in a notebook and handed it to Grunenkov: - Sign it! In a moment, the crumpled piece of paper turned into a document.

NOT RESTYLING

The fact that XRAY is being built on a hatchback platform was no secret from the very beginning. And I remember how I winced at this news: restyling...

But when I saw the bright red XRAY in Pilot Production (as the OPP is now called), it became clear: this is a completely different car. About half body parts borrowed from the hatchback - floor panels, doorways, engine shield, front and rear side members (they are only slightly modified). Since all the power points were preserved, there was a guarantee that the bodies would not be crooked from the very beginning. The wheelbase and front track have been preserved (the rear has become slightly wider). But at the same time, Xray has original doors, sides, roof, rear end, the hood is all that the buyer sees when choosing a car. Renault cars in this class have fairly simple external shapes - this is cheaper to produce. And the X-stampings on the sidewalls required a lot high level flanging - a lot of time was spent on developing the technology. What about the door frames? For Sandero it is actually a solid stamped part, while for Xray it is a complex part, like on the Fluence sedan. This will allow the use of more effective seals - to reduce noise levels in the cabin and as a more reliable barrier against dust.

Xray also has a third side window - it looks better, more solid than Sandero! I have only seen the body with the original new floor - with a very low central tunnel. This means that for now all Xrays are front-wheel drive. The bodybuilders work according to the new Renault standard, which is also new for the French. The main idea is that even experienced bodies are welded not on the knee, but on the main line. 39 “training” bodies have already been made (they are then destroyed) and 62 pre-production ones, which are being painted and assembled. Experimental bodies are painted at the main production, but the final assembly of the cars is still carried out in the Pilot Production - the Vesta assembly technology was also worked out there (ZR, 2015, No. 2). The first XRAY was completed here in May. And since then, more than 20 cars have been assembled and sent for testing.

I said we need to do as much as possible experimental machines. This is expensive, but necessary for debugging the technology. I did the same thing at GAZ. Errors need to be recorded early stages. And I am proud that six months before the official launch, we can hypothetically assemble 250 cars per day - because the welding production is ready, the painting line is working, the chassis assembly line and the main conveyor are modernized. At the same time, we are putting pressure on suppliers: many were not ready for AVTOVAZ to do everything on time. The plan has not changed: we are launching XRAY in December and by the end of the year we will assemble a thousand cars, in 2016 - more than thirty thousand. Vesta is also on schedule: we will launch on September 25 and will produce six thousand cars by the end of the year. And finally, and most importantly, have the prices been set? Bo Andersson answered the question with a question - he suggested that I “form” a price list. Hmm... At the euro exchange rate of 65 rubles, I would assign 480-500 thousand rubles for not the most expensive versions of Vesta. And the initial XRAY would cost me about 570 thousand. A bit expensive? But even the basic XRAY will not be naked: the standard equipment includes an audio system, ESP and some small things.

There are no visual differences between the chassis and Sander's: there is a subframe and McPherson struts at the front, a lower steering rack, and an elastic beam at the rear. But for the Xray they selected springs and shock absorbers with different characteristics, and the track became a little wider. Crossover ground clearance - 195 mm. Instead of hydraulic power steering, an electro-hydraulic power steering was used, which is more economical.

STILL GREEN

For a short test ride on the factory oval, the VAZ team rolled out two Xrays. The first one is simpler - with a brand new 114‑horsepower 1.6 H4Mk engine and manual transmission JH, the assembly of which was also mastered at AVTOVAZ. Modest equipment, 15‑inch wheels. The second is with the new VAZ-21179 engine (for now it only has a robotic gearbox from Granta), 16‑inch wheels and all the “pies”. Grunenkov sat on the right. We did several laps on one car, then on another... These Xrays are too different! And it's not just about power units. On one, the doors close tighter, on the other, wind noise breaks through the cracks, but the interior plastic grumbles a little less. On the first, the stabilization system was turned off, and I was pleased with the clear reactions on the reset, but on the other, it pulled me back so zealously that it almost knocked the steering wheel out of my hands. Oleg knows all this: - We are also dissatisfied with the level of noise and vibration. But there is still work to be done, using different methods - including modernization of body welding technology. We will calibrate the ESP. You better pay attention to this: the robot works differently than on Grant.

Tochnyak: more tasty shifts, with slight throttle changes. They reconfigured the robot’s “brains”, and quite successfully! And there will also be a Grantov 106-horsepower engine - in combination with mechanics or a robot. Two 1.6 engines of similar power? For what? To obviously consider the XRAY with its own engine defective and give it away for less money? The cost of the VAZ engine is 13 thousand rubles lower, and this is significant. But Andersson has a more powerful argument. To negotiate toughly with Renault, you need to have a serious trump card. - If they don’t give you reasonable prices, we’ll install our own engine. We try to cover all key positions with our own production. So, for Vesta we make almost all the important plastic ourselves. We can do it for Ixray too. We have a modern plastic production in Izhevsk - we will make bumpers, front panels, door trims.

XRAY is now at the stage that Vesta went through in the winter: the first cars have started driving, and this is the main thing. Ahead lies painstaking fine tuning. And Vesta has already been brought to mind. I knocked out a couple of laps on Vesta with Grant’s 106-horsepower engine and an AMT gearbox: correct, clear reactions. And the silence is such that it will certainly disturb the peaceful sleep of Polo sellers and

Many fans of the domestic automobile industry are interested in the question: which is better Lada Vesta or Lada X Ray? Both cars are currently flagships in model range AvtoVAZ. Appearing on Russian roads in 2015, Lada Vesta and Lada X Ray won recognition and admiring reviews from their newly-made owners. Using technical data and a description of the external features of the cars, including photos, you can compare these two models.

Both models are made in the same stylish design with a pronounced letter X on many parts of the cars. The head optics and the front part of the body with the radiator grille are practically the same. Identical X-shaped stampings on the fenders and doors of cars attract the attention of others. The interior and ergonomics of the cabin have minor differences.

It is impossible to compare both of these models on the same scale. First of all, they are made in different types body, which means a comparative analysis must be carried out taking into account this important design difference.

The X Ray crossover, thanks to its significant ground clearance and short wheelbase, has advantages on roads with worse surfaces and on poor off-road conditions. By dynamic characteristics it loses to the more stocky and streamlined Lada Vesta sedan, which has a lower center of gravity and much better stability on the highway than its competitor. If you compare the Lada Vesta in city traffic on the asphalt, in terms of maneuverability it is not much different from the X Ray.

Specifications

The technical equipment of Lada Vesta and Lada Xray is similar. The power units for these models are the same: a 106-horsepower 16-valve 1.6-liter engine and a 1.8-liter engine with a capacity of 122 hp. Two gearboxes work in tandem with them: a 5-speed “robot” and a classic “mechanics”. Despite the similarity in the equipment of these machines, they are speed characteristics differ slightly.

Ride and Handling

The comparison of the Lada Vesta with the Lada X Ray in terms of driving characteristics is the most interesting. The front suspension of both new products is independent, equipped with stabilizers. lateral stability. The rear wishbone semi-independent suspension with gas-filled shock absorbers is also unified for both cars. But the settings of the car's chassis are different.

The crossover in its design is designed for frequent trips to the countryside, and its suspension is tuned more rigidly to “swallow” potholes and bumps in off-road conditions. In the city of X, Ray is less comfortable due to the constant slight trembling from minor joints and defects of city roads.

The sedan is equipped with a softer suspension, which copes well with minor irregularities on city roads. But its design and suspension tuning are not designed to overcome serious obstacles.

In order to independently evaluate the driving advantages and handling of these cars and decide for yourself whether to buy a Lada Vesta or an X Ray, dealership centers offer a test drive. It is better to sign up for this service in advance, indicating a convenient date and time.

Prices for new AvtoVAZ products

Prices for Lada Vesta and Lada X Ray are displayed in detail on the official website of Lada cars. The significant difference in price from the basic configuration to its maximum performance is explained by the large number of options and generous equipment of the car. How much this or that modification will cost depends on the buyer’s preferences.

Basic equipment

Lada Vesta with the most modest Classic equipment and a base engine paired with a manual transmission will cost the buyer 545,000 rubles. The list of equipment already includes all the necessary safety systems for skidding and loss of control, two airbags and some pleasant little things for comfortable driving.

X Rei's cost in minimum configuration Optima with the same engine and manual transmission starts at 600 thousand rubles. The equipment of the crossover is distinguished by the presence in the “base” of an installed audio system with speakers and modern functionality. In addition, X Ray is equipped with electric power steering, unlike Vesta’s electric power steering.

Maximum configuration

Prices for new Vesta in Moscow with a “robot” and more powerful engine start at 650,000 rubles for the average Comfort equipment. The maximum list of Luxe/Multimedia options will cost 735 thousand.

Similar equipment for a crossover in the mid-range Luxe configuration will cost 760,000 rubles. The price of the top version Exclusive will be 830 thousand. The crossover has a more generous package, which includes:

  • interior lighting;
  • presence of an additional socket in the trunk;
  • 17" alloy wheels;
  • double luggage compartment floor;
  • folding rear seats forming a flat surface for transporting additional luggage;
  • leather trim of the gearshift knob and steering wheel;
  • the presence of an additional box under the front passenger seat;
  • original design of seats and interior Exclusive.

The presence of additional options and the advantage of a 5-door off-road explains why Khrey is more expensive than Vesta. After watching numerous videos where two models are compared directly under the conditions of their actual use, you can decide which car you should buy, taking into account individual preferences.

Conclusion

Despite the fact that these two representatives of the Tolyatti concern are assembled on the same platform and have the same units and components in their designs, they are still different. They differ in driving behavior, handling, some little details in equipment and much more. It is impossible to say unequivocally which of them is better, each is good in its own way. The final choice remains with the buyer, who will weigh the pros and cons and choose for himself best option.

Lada XRAY is a high hatchback from AvtoVAZ, a pre-production version of which was shown at the Moscow Motor Show in two thousand and fourteen along with a sedan. At the beginning of November fifteenth, the manufacturer officially presented the commercial version of the new product.

In general, the appearance of the car at the time of presentation was not a secret. The design of the new Lada X Ray 2018-2019 (photo and price) is made in the company’s corporate style, developed by Steve Mattin. The key feature of the appearance is the X-shaped front end, as well as the corresponding stampings on the sidewalls. The latter are quite difficult for mass production, so it’s good that they still made it to the assembly line.

Configurations and prices of Lada XRAY 2019

MT5 - 5-speed manual, AMT5 - 5-speed robot.

This style was first tested on the original XRAY concept - Mattin’s first work at AvtoVAZ. Of course, that prototype still looks much more impressive today than the serial X-Ray, but it was just a show car to attract attention - without a full-fledged chassis at its core.

But the Lada X Ray 2019 hatchback, prepared for production, is built on the basis of the French B0 platform, used on Renault Logan and Sandero Stepway. The latter became the starting point for Russian car, which AvtoVAZ representatives planned to make better than the source in all respects, despite the corporate hierarchy.

Specifications

Overall length Lada XRAY 2019 in the new body is 4,164 mm, the wheelbase is 2,592, width is 1,764, height is 1,570. The trunk volume is 376 liters, and with the backrests of the rear sofa folded, the size of the compartment increases to 1,382 liters. Thus, the car turned out to be 84 millimeters longer than the Sandero Stepway, 7 millimeters wider and 48 millimeters higher. Ground clearance (clearance) - 195 millimeters.

On the version of two thousand and nineteen, the Togliatti people slightly modernized the five-door, installing the rear sofa in the cabin a little further and lower than before. This solution was initially tested on the Cross version, and later transferred to a regular hatchback. As a result, it was possible to carve out an additional 25 mm of free space for the legs of the rear passengers.

As power units X Ray received a 1.6-liter sixteen-valve engine with a power of 106 hp, and the top-end engine was the new 122-horsepower engine developed by AvtoVAZ with a displacement of 1.8 liters, which had already been tested on the Priora. Initially, the appearance of a localized Nissan engine with a capacity of 114 hp was expected. coupled with a Jatco variator, but such a tandem has not yet appeared on the car.

Both engines on the Lada X Ray are paired with a 5-speed manual transmission, and a more powerful one is also available robotic transmission AMT. From zero to hundreds, the basic version of the model accelerates in 11.4 seconds, and its maximum speed reaches 176 km/h. A car with a 1.8-liter engine reaches 100 km/h in 10.3 seconds (0.6 seconds longer with a robot), the maximum speed is stated at 179 and 186 kilometers per hour, respectively.

What is the price

Serial production of the Lada XRAY started on December 15, 2015 in Togliatti (on the same line with Largo, Nissan Almera and the Renault cars mentioned above), and sales started on February 14, 2016. Initially, the car was available only from 120 dealers in 56 major cities, but now it can be bought at any official Lada center.

At the end of January two thousand and sixteen, AvtoVAZ organized a test drive of a hatchback in Sochi, during which the specifications and prices for the new product were announced. Today, the price of the Lada X Ray 2019 starts at 609,900 rubles for a car with an initial 106-horsepower engine and a manual transmission in the Standard configuration, while for a better-equipped Classic they ask for a minimum of 649,900 rubles.

The minimum cost of an X-Ray with a 122-horsepower engine is 732,900 rubles, and the most expensive version of the model reaches 842,900 rubles. In addition, earlier, for a short time, the car was also offered with a 1.6 liter Nissan engine with 110 hp, but then it was decided to abandon it.

The initial version “Standard” (formerly Optima) has ABS and ESP, front airbags, central locking, on-board computer, front electric windows and 15-inch stamped wheels.

The “Classic” package is complemented by height adjustment of the driver’s seat, plus there is the ability to disable the passenger air bag, while air conditioning and a cooled glove box are available for an extra charge in the “Air” package.

In the “Comfort” version, it is possible to choose an engine (1.6 or 1.8), and the equipment includes a multifunction steering wheel, electric drive and heated exterior mirrors, heated front seats, as well as electric windows on all windows. The top-end “Lux” version boasts light and rain sensors, standard multimedia with navigation, cruise control and parking sensors.
