Wiring connection diagram for IZH Planet 5. Bike IZH Planet of the fifth model: what should you know about its wiring? Headlight and dashboard lamps

The wiring diagram of IZH Planet 5 has simple design: Single-wire DC power is provided by a 12-volt battery, which is charged by a 100-140 watt generator. The role of the negative wire in the electrical circuit is played by the metal frame, and since the rest of the wiring has a positive charge, their short circuit is often the main cause of the malfunction.

Generator IZH Planet 5 Generator device

Battery

To supply all components, a low-power energy storage device of 12 volts is required, since IZH Planet 5 does not have a starter. Task lead acid battery only apply voltage to the ignition system and the generator excitation winding during start-up.

Battery

Ignition system

In IZH Planet 5, the ignition coil converts low-voltage voltage into high-voltage and transmits it to the spark plug. That, in turn, is responsible for the spark that detonates the fuel. To ensure that detonation occurs only in the desired piston position, there is an ignition chopper.

Ignition system

From the factory, this model is equipped with a classic ignition system, which requires periodic cleaning of the breaker contacts and adjusting the gap between them.

Installing a contactless SG on a motorcycle gives:

  • timely powerful sparking;
  • reduction of vibration levels;
  • reduction in fuel consumption.

Control devices

The following control devices are installed on the motorcycle:

  • tachometer, on which there are indicator lights for headlights and turns;
  • speedometer showing total and daily mileage;
  • power engine temperature indicator;
  • voltmeter.

Control devices

Headlight and dashboard lamps

As lighting equipment and for illumination dashboard Conventional incandescent lamps are installed. Switching elements are responsible for supplying electricity from the battery to the lamps.

The headlight circuit includes lamps:

  • headlight (35 watt);
  • parking light headlights (4 W);
  • control - blue light (2 watts);
  • rear brake light (15 W).

Headlight

Switching elements

Switching elements are various types of switches that close or open electrical circuit. They can be activated using keys on the dashboard (for example, turn signals) or by sensors.

In IZH Planet 5, the switching elements include:

  • turn switches;
  • signal key;
  • switches for low/high beam headlights;

Maintenance

The owner can independently perform some maintenance procedures:

  • check the motorcycle generator if the battery loses charge;
  • set the gap between the breaker contacts;
  • adjust the quality of the sound signal.

The need to inspect and adjust the wiring arises if:

  • the motorcycle moves in the rain for a long time, as this causes oxidation of the contacts;
  • a motorcyclist rides in an area with a lot of vegetation that damages wiring;
  • the driver rides in winter time on snow, which can stick to electrical wiring parts and damage them.

Self-check of the Planet 5 motorcycle generator in case of loss of charge

The cause of loss of charge in the IZH Planet 5 battery is most often a breakdown of the generator.

To check it yourself you need:

  • multimeter device;
  • straight screwdriver.

Step-by-step instruction

The following steps must be followed:

  1. Disconnect the wires from the battery and remove the generator cover.
  2. Disconnect the top 5 wires from the generator, first unscrewing their fastenings. In order not to mix up the wires during assembly, it is worth marking them.
  3. Measure the winding resistance using a multimeter in ohmmeter mode. To do this, you need to touch the body with one probe, and the other should be connected in turn to the 3 wires of the winding. There should be no short circuits, as indicated by the inscription on the multimeter screen.
  4. Test the resistance between the stator contacts: you need to touch them one by one with the multimeter probes. The value on the screen should be 8 ohms.

Availability short circuit at the 3rd stage or discrepancy in the indicators at the 4th will indicate problems with the generator.

How to correctly set the gap between the contacts of the breaker?

In order to set the gap between the breaker contacts, you will need:

  • straight screwdriver;
  • wrench 10;
  • candle key;
  • probe thickness 0.4 mm (+/– 0.05 mm).
  1. Place the motorcycle on a stand and place the gearbox in neutral.
  2. Remove the right crankcase cover and unscrew the spark plug.
  3. Using a 10mm wrench, grab the generator rotor mounting bolt and turn the crankshaft to a position where the contacts are as far apart as possible.
  4. Loosen the screw securing the contact.
  5. Place the probe between the contacts and adjust the tightening of the eccentric screw until the probe passes the contacts with little resistance.
  6. Tighten the contact fixing screw.

While improving the car, the plant made a number of changes to it. In particular, the fixation and clarity of operation of the IZH P101 and IZH P102 switches and the switch on the steering wheel have been improved. The Hella optical element in the headlight was replaced by the Soviet FG 137, and the IZH UP1 turn signal lights were replaced by standardized lights 16.3726. There are other innovations as well.

Jupiter-4 is now equipped with 12-volt equipment. The plant is preparing for production and new model“Planet-Sport”, the electrical equipment of which is unified with “Jupiter-4”.

However, even now, Planet-Sport owners can use a number of IZH Yu-4 electrical appliances without significant modifications. These include generator 28.3701 (if it is sold without a breaker and capacitor, they can be taken from the old IZH GP1); direction indicator lights 16.3726; headlight optical element FG 137; rear light FP146; speedometer SP102; battery 6MTS-9.

To install the IZH RP2SM-10 turn signal breaker in the headlight housing, you need to make an additional bracket from a steel strip 1-1.5 mm thick and replace the plug tips with round ones. After the same modification of the tips, the combined switches IZH P101-20 and IZH P102-20 from the IZH Yu-4 motorcycle can be used on Planet-Sport. To do this, squeezing out the fixing tendrils with an awl or knitting needle, remove the plug tips. They cut them off and crimp and solder round tips on the stripped ends of the wires. At the IZH P101-20 switch, a blue outlet wire 130-150 mm long with a plug tip is soldered to the black wire.

Improvements in the electrical equipment of motorcycles and the use of new devices have naturally led to some complication of the electrical circuit. Let's get acquainted with its main elements using the example of electrical equipment of the “Planet-Sport” circuit, which is in many ways similar to the circuits of other Izhevsk motorcycles.

Ignition system. This is perhaps the main system, because without it the motor cannot work. Let's trace and remember its electrical circuit. From the battery 24 through fuse 25 and rectifier 26, power is supplied to terminal (2) of the connecting panel in the headlight housing and then to terminal (3) of the ignition switch 9. When the key is turned to position I, the terminals (3—2—1 and 5) are closed -6). Now from terminal (1) of the lock, the current flows to terminal (5) of the connecting panel, from it to the emergency ignition switch 11, and through its closed contacts to terminal (1) of the connecting panel and then to the primary winding of the ignition coil 21 (second end primary winding— terminal “—” is connected to the breaker). This turns on the motorcycle's ignition circuit.

If the engine does not run due to lack of spark at the spark plug, check whether high voltage is supplied to it. To do this, remove the wire from the cap and bring it to the edge of the cylinder with a gap of 2-3 mm. If, when the crankshaft is rotated by the kick starter, a spark does not appear between the wire and the cylinder - high voltage No. The reason for this is found as follows. When you turn on the ignition, use a 12-volt test light to check whether power is supplied to the “+” terminal of the ignition coil. If not, then check the entire circuit, starting from the battery. The usual cause of no voltage is loose or oxidized terminals, or a faulty fuse.

Having ensured that normal voltage appears at the “+” terminal of the ignition coil, carefully clean the breaker contacts, check and set a gap of 0.4-0.6 mm between them and adjust the initial ignition timing.

If the engine gives only isolated flashes when starting, and the breaker contacts appear white coating- this means the capacitor has failed (rarely, but it happens).

With the correct gap, clean contacts of the breaker and a working capacitor, the reason for the lack of a spark on the spark plug may be a malfunction of its plastic cap (ground fault) or the ignition coil (it is not removable, so it must be replaced). A poor-quality spark plug can cause engine interruptions or make it difficult to start. Signaling and lighting system

Direction indicator. When the ignition is turned on (key in position I), electricity from the battery 24 (or rectifier 26 when the engine is running) is supplied through terminals (3 and 1) of the ignition switch 9 to terminal (5) of the connecting panel. The power wire for turn signal relay 6, horn 18 and the “positive” wire for light switch 11 located on the steering wheel are connected to it. From relay 6, power is supplied to the lights through the terminal (9) of the connecting panel and then to the turn signal switch 19. From it, through terminals (6 and 7) of the connecting panel, it goes to lights 10 and 28 turn indicators. The turn signal indicator lamp 16 is also connected to the terminals (6 and 7) of the connecting panel through the diode block 7.

The reason for the failure of direction indicators to work most often is the lack of “ground” in the lamps when their fastening to the frame is loosened, oxidation or loosening of the connections of the tips with the wires, contacts in the lamp sockets.

To speed up troubleshooting, the circuit is checked from the non-working consumer to the power source. To determine the functionality of the turn signal relay 6 without dismantling it, you must first make sure that terminal (5) of the connecting panel is receiving voltage and that the brown wire of the relay is securely connected to ground. Then check the serviceability of the circuits going to the direction indicator lights by connecting terminal (5) with terminals (6 and 7) of the connecting panel with a separate wire. The lights on the right (terminal 6) or left side (terminal 7) and indicator lamp 16 should light without blinking if the circuits are working. Then disconnect the pink relay wire from terminal (9) and connect it to terminals (6 and 7) of the connection panel. If the relay is working properly, the starboard or port side lights should blink at a frequency of 60 to 120 per minute.

The relay removed from the motorcycle is checked using two A12-21-3 test lamps (each with a power of 25 W), connected in parallel. Connect it to the red wire “plus” DC voltage 12 volts, to brown - “minus”, and to pink - warning lamps. When the device is working properly, the lamps should flash at a frequency of 90 ± 30 per minute.

headlight. It contains the main part of the wiring diagram, the turn signal relay, the neutral 3 and oil pressure indicator lamps 5, the lamp 8 that illuminates the speedometer scale, the parking light lamp 1, the head light lamp 2, the ignition switch 9 and the speedometer.

On the latest motorcycle models, the turn signal switch is mounted on the frame under the gas tank.

Let's consider the electrical circuit of the head, parking and side light. When the ignition is turned on (key in position I), power is supplied to terminal (4) of the connecting panel, then through the contacts of the light switch 11 - to the central contact of the high-low beam switch 19. Next, through the terminals (11 and 12) of the connecting panel - to the high or low beam filament of lamp 2.

The side light in the headlight (lamp 1) and in the rear lamp 29 lights up when switch 11 is activated and current flows through contacts (5 and 6) of ignition switch 9.

If the ignition key is turned to position II (parking), then these lamps receive power through its contacts (3 and 5) regardless of the position of the switches on the steering wheel.

Lamps that glow dimly when the engine is not running indicate that the battery is not fully charged. If this is observed in all modes of engine operation, it means that the voltage in the lamp power circuit drops significantly. In this case, check the electrical connections of the power and ground wires, clean and tighten the screw and plug connectors, contacts in the headlight and flashlight lamp sockets. Check the serviceability and reliability of the contacts in the switches and fuse.

Since the motorcycle is constantly being improved during the production process and its electrical circuit is changing, it is advisable to include the differences in your motorcycle in the circuit printed here, so that by using it you can always easily and quickly find the desired circuit and determine the malfunction.

Electrical equipment of motorcycles IZH 7.107-01

The electrical diagram is given in Appendix 6. The electrical equipment of the motorcycle includes:

    sources of electricity - battery and generator;

    control device - rectifier-voltage regulator;

    ignition devices - ignition coil, sensor, switch and spark plug;

    lighting and signaling devices - headlight, tail light, direction indicator lights, sound signal (for a motorcycle with a side trailer, additional front marker light and rear light);

    control and monitoring devices - ignition switch, warning lamps, turn signal switch, lighting mode switch, horn switch, turn signal switch, lighting mode switch, alarm switch high beam, emergency engine switch, brake light switch for front and rear wheel brakes.

5.4.1. Motorcycle generator IZH 7.107-01

Generator (Fig. 30) alternating current single-phase with excitation from permanent magnets.

The generator rotor is installed on the cone of the right half-axis of the engine crankshaft, the stator is installed in the generator cover or on a base fixed to the engine crankcase. The stator has two separate windings: charging and power. The charging winding is connected directly to the switch and serves to power the engine ignition system; the power winding, through a rectifier-regulator, provides power to lighting devices, an alarm system and charging the battery.

Rice. 30. Generator and ignition sensor:

1 - rotor; 2 - stator; 3 - ignition sensor

The ignition system is powered by alternating current; other consumers are powered by a rectifier-voltage regulator by direct current.

The generator does not have sliding contacts or rubbing parts; its maintenance boils down to monitoring the condition of electrical insulation, wire connections and the reliability of the rotor and stator fastening.

The serviceability of the generator set (generator-rectifier - voltage regulator) is checked using a DC voltmeter with a scale division of 0.1 V. The voltmeter is connected to the “+” terminal of the rectifier-voltage regulator and to ground. At medium engine speeds with the battery connected and the headlights on high beam, the voltage should be 13.7...14.7 V. A deviation of the voltage from the specified values indicates a malfunction of the rectifier-voltage regulator or generator.

Remove the generator from the engine in the following order:

    disconnect the wires of the generator and ignition sensor from the rectifier-voltage regulator, switch, main harness;

    remove the generator cover with the stator, remove the four screws securing the stator and the screw of the bracket securing the wires to the generator cover, disconnect the stator from the generator cover;

    Unscrew the rotor mounting bolt, using the screw from the device for squeezing out the chain link axis as a puller (screw it into the rotor shaft), remove the rotor.

If the stator is installed on a base fixed in the crankcase, unscrew the four screws securing the stator to the base and remove the stator with the harness.

Install the generator in reverse order.

5.4.2. Motorcycle battery IZH 7.107-01

The battery is the power source when the engine is not running. The “-” terminal of the battery is connected to the “ground” of the motorcycle. Reverse connection of the terminals is unacceptable, as it leads to failure of electronic devices, other electrical equipment components and the battery itself.

The activation, operation and maintenance of the battery are described in the attached operating instructions for the battery.

A capacitor with a capacity of 2200 microfarads is connected in parallel to the battery, designed to smooth out the ripples of the rectified voltage and ensure normal operation of the motorcycle's electrical energy consumers when the battery fails or is missing.

5.4.3. Rectifier-voltage regulator for motorcycles IZH 7.107-01

The rectifier-voltage regulator (Fig. 31) or voltage regulator is designed to rectify the alternating current of the generator, maintain the voltage of the generator within specified limits and ensure reliable operation of the entire electrical equipment system, the connection of which to the system is different (see electrical diagram in the appendix 7).

Rice. 31. Diagram of the rectifier-voltage regulator BPV 21-15

To avoid disruption of the thermal operating conditions of the rectifier-regulator, it is necessary to periodically (at least once every six months) clean it with a brush from dust and other contaminants. It is not allowed to clean with metal objects or break the factory seal during the warranty period of the motorcycle.

5.4.4. Ignition installation for motorcycles IZH 7.107-01

The initial ignition timing angle is determined by the relative position of the ignition sensor and the generator rotor and is not subject to adjustment during operation. When the engine is running, the ignition system automatically changes the ignition timing depending on the crankshaft speed.

5.4.5. Electronic switch for motorcycles IZH 7.107-01

The electronic switch is designed to accumulate the energy produced by the generator and transfer it to the ignition coil.

The switch is housed in a hermetically sealed plastic case, which prevents moisture from entering. It requires no maintenance and cannot be repaired.

5.4.6. Motorcycle ignition sensor IZH 7.107-01

The ignition sensor (Fig. 30) is designed to create a control pulse for the ignition switch. During operation it does not require maintenance and cannot be repaired.

5.4.7. Motorcycle ignition coil IZH 7.107-01

The ignition coil (Fig. 32) is designed to convert the energy accumulated in the commutator into a high-voltage pulse supplied to the spark plug. During operation, it is necessary to clean the coil from dust and other contaminants.

Cannot be repaired.

Rice. 32. Ignition coil

5.4.8. Spark plug for motorcycles IZH 7.107-01

After 2500-3500 km, check the condition of the spark plug; if carbon deposits form and become oily, rinse the spark plug in clean gasoline and dry it.

Check the gap between the spark plug electrodes with a feeler gauge. When adjusting the gap, carefully bend the side electrode. Install the spark plug into the socket with a sealing ring.

5.4.9. Spark plug tip for motorcycles IZH 7.107-01

The spark plug tip (Fig. 33) connects the spark plug to high voltage wire ignition coils and ensures reduction of radio interference to acceptable standards. During operation, it is recommended to periodically check the reliability of the fastening of the wires in the tip and in the ignition coil, blow through the tip to remove dust between the screen and the body, and wipe the tip inside. The wire must be screwed into the lug until it stops.

Rice. 33. Candle tip:

1 - body; 2 - resistor; 3 - wire; 4 - screen

5.4.10. Motorcycle headlight IZH 7.107-01

The headlight has two lamps: a main light with two filaments (low and high beam) and a parking light. To better utilize the light quality and reduce glare, the headlight must be adjusted. Before adjustment, place the motorcycle on a horizontal platform perpendicular to the Screen at a distance of 10 m. The load on the motorcycle during adjustment is the driver. The adjustment should be made with the low beam on in accordance with the screen markings (Fig. 34), while the longitudinal vertical plane of symmetry of the motorcycle should intersect with the screen along line AB.

Rice. 34. Headlight adjustment

5.4.11. Brake light switches for motorcycles IZH 7.107-01

The brake light switches for the front and rear wheels are used to turn on the light signal when the motorcycle is braking. Adjust the moment when the signal is turned on in the event of a change in the position of the rear wheel brake lever by moving switch 1 (Fig. 35) with its fastening loosened. The brake light must come on before the wheel begins to brake.

The front wheel brake light switch is installed in the front wheel brake lever bracket and does not require adjustment.

Rice. 35. Adjusting the brake light switch:

1 - brake light switch; 2 - screw; 3 - nut; 4 - spring; 5 - traction

5.4.12. Motorcycle sound signal IZH 7.107-01

The sound signal does not require maintenance. The sound strength can be adjusted using an adjusting screw located on the body.

5.4.13. Motorcycle fuse IZH 7.107-01

The fuse consists of body 1 (Fig. 36), cover 3 and fuse link 2 for 10 A.

The fuse is connected to the “+” terminal of the rectifier-voltage regulator.

If the fuse link burns out, eliminate the cause that caused the combustion and replace it by disconnecting the body from the lid.

Monitor the condition of the contact connections of the fuse, cleaning them from contamination.

Rice. 36. Fuse:

1 - body; 2 - fuse link; 3 - cover

5.4.14. Turn signal switch

The direction indicator breaker IZHRP-4 (Fig. 37) is designed to interrupt the power supply circuit of the direction indicator signal lamps and monitor the serviceability of these lamps.

The turn signal switch is located on the frame under the gas tank. It is protected against short circuits in the signal lamp circuit and requires no maintenance. Cannot be repaired.

The wiring diagram of IZH Planet 5 is not complicated, and it is quite possible for a person, even with little experience, to independently check its serviceability and carry out repairs. It is enough to know the principle of operation and its main problems, which owners of the IZH P5 motorcycle often encounter.

How to wire IZH Planet 5

Most of those in use today are equipped with a contactless ignition system. This makes it possible to use the motorcycle even without a battery - but the lights and direction indicators will not work. Some owners remove the battery themselves or remove the main fuse if the electrical circuit is damaged and there is no time or desire to deal with it. But, according to current traffic rules, operation of a motorcycle with such malfunctions is prohibited, and therefore the Planet 5 wiring must always be in perfect condition.

The IZ wiring diagram is designed for a voltage of 12 Volts, not 6, which should be taken into account by the owner of the motorcycle. The circuit uses the metal frame of the motorcycle as the negative wire: all wires have a positive charge, and their short circuit with the frame is often the main cause of wiring failure.

Typical wiring diagram for IZH Planet

Conventionally, the wiring can be divided into 2 circuits: external devices and ignition.

The motorcycle uses the following operating model: When the engine is running, the generator supplies voltage to the coils and charges the battery. The voltage from the battery goes to other consumers.

The problem with Planet 5 motorcycles is the lack of a separate fuse box, and often in the event of a malfunction it is necessary to inspect the entire electrical wiring. The standard IZ Planet 5 wiring model provides for installing a fuse on the positive wire of the battery. Therefore, in the event of malfunctions in the operation of external devices, but with a working ignition system, this fuse should be checked first.

One of the most common problems with Planet motorcycles is loss of battery charge due to a faulty generator. It’s quite easy to check it yourself; the check scheme is as follows:

Guided by your knowledge of the electrical wiring of IZH Planet 5, you can easily restore the wiring on other motorcycles: the IZH wiring diagram and its connections are similar.

The history of motorcycles from the Izhmash plant begins in the 30s of the last century. During this time, many modifications of the IZH 1 - 6 bike were released. They are very popular. The article is devoted to the IZH Planet 5 bike, discusses its features, the IZH Planet 5 wiring diagram, and talks about maintenance.

[Hide]

Motorcycle Features

The IZH Plante 5 motorcycle has the original name IZH 7.107. Just like IZH 6, it belongs to the middle class of motorcycles, designed for movement on roads with any surface. Main feature is the use oil pump, when refueling there is no need to add oil to the tank, and also contactless system ignition, which operates independently of the battery.

It became possible to start a motorcycle from a pusher. To do this, you need to turn on the ignition, second gear and, when pushing the bike forward, the engine starts. True, without a battery, operation is possible only during daylight hours.

The Fifth Planet can be equipped with a cargo trailer and a passenger stroller. To reduce the clutch release effort, the bike has a clutch consisting of 7 pairs of discs. Vibration dampers are installed on the cylinder ribs. An important feature of this series is the presence of hydropneumatic suspension with disc brakes, which contributed to a smooth ride. Power is 22 Horse power, the maximum possible speed is 120 km/h. The volume of the two-stroke single-cylinder engine is 346 cm3. Power unit has good traction at low speeds.

Electrical equipment IZH Planet 5

Motorcycles IZH 3, 4, 5 and 6 are equipped with 12-volt electrical equipment. The wiring of IZH Planet 3 and 5 consists of standard 12-volt incandescent lamps, a set of instruments and switches.

The electrical wiring is single-wire, there is no negative wire, its role is played by the bike frame. Planet 4 is similar to the electrical circuit of Planet 5.

The electrical circuit includes the following main components:

  • generator;
  • turns and side lighting;
  • Headlight;
  • contactless ignition system.

The power source on both IZh 5 and 6 motorcycles is a battery and a 3-phase alternating current generator. In the generator, alternating current from the windings is supplied to the rectifier and converted into D.C.. Power is supplied to all consumers through the ignition switch (video author: altevaa TV).

The head light circuit of the IZH Planet 5 motorcycle consists of: a headlight bulb, a blue turn-on indicator light, a parking light bulb, and a rear brake light bulb.

The following control devices are installed on the bike:

  • tachometer, on which there are indicator lights for headlights and turns;
  • speedometer showing total and daily mileage;
  • power engine temperature indicator;
  • voltmeter.

Maintenance

Those who love their bike regularly monitor its technical condition. During operation, it is sometimes necessary to adjust the gap between the breaker contacts. To carry out this operation, you need an electrical diagram of the IZH 5 motorcycle, which shows the connection of devices, and the corresponding tools.

The procedure consists of the following steps:

  1. The motorcycle should be placed on the stand and put in neutral.
  2. Next you need to unscrew the spark plugs.
  3. Then remove the cover from the crankcase.
  4. At the next stage, you need to ensure that the contacts are as open as possible. To do this, we need to turn the crankshaft.
  5. Next, you need to loosen the locking screw using a screwdriver.
  6. Using a feeler gauge, the gap should be set to 0.35-0.45 mm. Fix the gap with a screw.
  7. We do the assembly in reverse order.

When the clearance is correctly set, the engine idles stably.

The electrical circuit of IZH 3, 4, 5 and 6 is quite simple and any driver can figure it out in order to repair it with his own hands if necessary.

This need may arise in the following cases:

  • operating the bike in wet weather (contacts oxidize);
  • movement through areas overgrown with vegetation (mechanical damage to wiring);
  • trips in winter (dirt sticks, which can damage the wiring).

On IZH bikes both 5 and 6 there may be problems with sound signal, it may sound weaker. To adjust it, you need to loosen the lock nut, turn on the ignition and use a screwdriver to adjust the tone. Once the desired tone is achieved, the locknut must be tightened.
