Prayer of the Optina elders for everyone. Prayer of the Optina Elders (full text). Pregnant woman's prayer

Optina Pustyn can be called anything you like: a symbol of Orthodoxy, a place of prayer, a holy land - everything will correspond to reality.

Its very location: proximity to Kozelsk, a city of Russian glory, which held a 7-week defense against the troops of the Golden Horde until the last inhabitant - suggests the presence of a special spirit on this land.

The emergence of the desert

The Zhizdra River, which fenced the edge of the forest, made this corner an ideal place for the followers of John the Baptist, who was also famous for being the first desert dweller, that is, a hermit. Neither the date nor the history of the appearance of Optina Pustyn are known. But its names (the second is Makarinskaya) testify in favor of the version about the dashing man Opta, who traded in robbery in the 14th century. Hiding from his pursuers, he just wanted to sit out in a quiet place, but the grace that descended on him turned his entire robber life upside down. He became the first hermit Macarius. It can be assumed that the prayer of the Optina elders for every day has its roots precisely at this time.

For a long time, Optina Pustyn was subjected to raids, seizures, and devastation by the forces of external and internal enemies of Russia. And only in 1796, through the efforts of Metropolitan Platon, Father Abraham became the rector of the monastery, under whom the revival of the monastery began and the appearance of the first elders, people who reached certain heights of spiritual perfection.

The heyday of Optina Pustyn

All-Russian glory, as well as the real flourishing of the monastery, began in the 20s of the 19th century, when the post of rector was taken by Archimandrite Moses, a holy man and a remarkable business executive. Under him, Father Lev officially founded the eldership in 1829. The venerable elders settled in a small monastery, which was built in 1821. The associates of the founder of Optina Hermitage were the holy fathers Cleopas and Theodore. The prayer book had not yet been compiled, and the prayer of the Optina elders for every day was a help to them in their labors. The significance of Optina Hermitage in the spiritual life of Russia is very great. Dostoevsky and Solovyov lived in it for a long time, gaining spiritual strength, and Lev and Alexei Tolstoy visited it. “Father Sergius” was written under the impression of Optina Hermitage.

The Council of the Optina Elders is a unique phenomenon, a special form of holiness that has flourished for 100 years in the Optina Hermitage. Something similar only happens on Mount Athos.

Cathedral of the Venerable Optina Elders

The first elders were only 6; Hieroschemamonk (the title of a monk-schemamonk with church rank) Lev, who appeared here in 1829, brought all-Russian fame to the monastery, which did not fade until 1917. There were 14 venerable elders in total, each of them added to the greatness of the Optina Hermitage. All of them, possessing a special spirit, had the gift of clairvoyance, prophecy and miracles. Much of what they predicted came true.

The legacy of the elders includes books, advice, letters, and prayer services. The daily prayer of the Optina elders is also part of this heritage. Isaac II (there were no more elders after him) and a number of his associates, inhabitants of the Optina Hermitage, were shot in 1937. The abbot of the monastery, Nektary, died in 1928 in his cell, having prevented his arrest by one day.

The most difficult years of Orthodoxy in Rus'

The fate of hundreds of members of the clergy in the 30s of the 20th century was tragic. Therefore, the prayer of the last Optina elders contains only a prayer to the Lord for humility, for a calm and dignified acceptance of the challenges of reality, interpreting them as a manifestation of his will, a prayer for sending down spiritual strength, the absence of doubts and the ability to overcome fatigue at the end of the day. Without such a prayer (it is now included in all Orthodox prayer books), it would probably be difficult to maintain the faith. One specialist described the prayer as non-denominational and psychotherapeutic. Of course, repeating it all the time, like a spell, it was possible to somehow wake up and fall asleep in the conditions of repression in 1937. (We are talking about those people who were doomed to this fate, specifically the clergy).

Unique prayers of the elders

The Optina elders advised, when turning to the Lord, to avoid verbosity, to be laconic and specific, therefore their prayers are understandable and loved by many Orthodox. Thus, an example is the prayer of the Optina elder Leo. It is known as the private prayer for suicides. Short and laconic, it is addressed to the Lord with a single request - to accept and, if possible, forgive the soul of a suicide, and not to punish the person asking for it. After all, church canons prohibited the commemoration in the church and burial in the cemetery of suicides, those killed in a duel and robbery, and drowned people. The wise elders understood that unbearable life circumstances can drive a person to suicide. They allowed private prayers, bypassing the official church, to calm the soul of a person who had committed suicide.

Morning prayer as a spell for happiness

Two more prayers deserve special attention, one of them is the morning prayer of the Optina elders. Having become acquainted with them for the first time, it is impossible not to note their dissimilarity with prayers in general. They, both morning and evening, contain so much expression and passion that, indeed, they can play the role of an affirmation (a short phrase, with repeated repetition of which a necessary image or attitude can be strengthened in a person’s subconscious). An attitude toward happiness, joy, and life in harmony with everyone. This prayer is more like a hymn and a spell at the same time. Repeated declaration of love to the Lord sounds like an unshakable faith in reciprocity. The person making this prayer sincerely believes that it is difficult not to respond to such a sincere request for help in matters only bright and good, for a declaration of love for everything and everyone. And a flow of warm gratitude, repeated “amen” can lead to a state of joy and a benevolent attitude towards the whole world.

The originality of the prayers of the Optina elders

The evening prayer of the Optina elders can also evoke a feeling of surprise and a desire to read it again and again. The effect is enhanced by repeated, repeated appeals and enthusiasm, emphasized by exclamation marks. There is a feeling that these two prayers imply the Lord’s friendly disposition towards the one praying. Of course, they are appropriate in the mouth of a cheerful, joyful and successful person, convinced that tomorrow will be as wonderful as today. In the evening he reports to God about a happily spent day. Joyfully thanks him for his help, forgives everything and everyone (including himself) for the mistakes he has made, and has no doubt that the Lord will do the same.

Good prayers, understandable, close - this is probably the great wisdom of the reverend elders.

Actually, the prayer of the Optina elders for every day is any prayer taken from the prayer book and suitable for a specific occasion. The role of the daily can be performed by both the morning and evening, as well as the akathist and service to the icon of the Mother of God, called the “Spreader of the Loaves.”

Everyone knows the Commandments of God. But few people know how to apply them in everyday life, in relation to themselves. Therefore, it is good if a person can find a spiritual mentor. The Optina elders became such teachers for all of Russia. Their prayer at the beginning of the day can set them in the right mood.

Why pray in the morning

It can be difficult for a person to constantly be in a good mood. Things worry me, premonitions torment me, responsibilities weigh me down. In such a state, you need to remind yourself that everything is in God’s hands, He is able to help. To tune your soul into communication with the Almighty, to receive relief from worries, there is a good remedy - at the beginning of each day, read the prayer of the Optina elders. She reminds that a person must do what depends on him, and leave everything else in the hands of the Lord.

Psychologists have proven that the state of communication with God is completely special. At this moment, the body tunes into unusual waves and perceives a different reality, which scientists are not yet able to fully explain. This is very beneficial for the psyche and the whole organism as a whole. And it takes very little time.

Text of the prayer of the Optina elders at the beginning of the day

Lord, let me meet with peace of mind everything that the coming day will bring me. Let me completely surrender to Your holy will.

For every hour of this day, instruct and support me in everything.

Whatever news I receive during the day, teach me to accept it with a calm soul and a firm conviction that everything is Your holy will.

In all my words and deeds, guide my thoughts and feelings.

In all unforeseen cases, do not let me forget that everything was sent down by You.

Teach me to act directly and wisely with each member of my family, without confusing or upsetting anyone.

Lord, give me strength to endure the fatigue of the coming day and all the events during the day.

Guide my will and teach me to pray, believe, hope, endure, forgive and love. Amen.

What do the wise words of the Optina elders teach?

Although the prayer of the Optina elders at the beginning of the day is quite short, the text gives a strong charge. After all, it was compiled by the best people of his time. All spiritual ascetics were gathered in the Optina Hermitage and left a legacy of sayings and conversations, but the most valuable thing was prayers. Every word is spiritual gold, which is forged in the soul of monks.

  • Any surprise must be met with peace in your soul.
  • In the most difficult situations, God's help is available to a person.
  • One must be patient with the shortcomings of others and never judge them.

It is not easy for a modern person to have constant peace in his soul. But this can be achieved if you follow the advice of spiritually more experienced people. And they all speak with one voice about the importance of prayer.

There are many other texts in Orthodox prayer books. Each of them is devoted to a separate issue - appeal to the Holy Trinity, the Mother of God, cleansing from sins, etc. This prayer was compiled so that a person could “let go” of his anxiety and successfully engage in work or study. It makes sense to read a prayer only in the morning; it is not suitable for reading before bed.

How to develop the habit of praying in the morning

The Optina elders possessed many spiritual gifts - they predicted the future, saw all the shortcomings of the visitor, his fate, and could heal illnesses. But they could also instruct on spiritual life. They advised starting with a small amount. For example, read “Our Father” several times, then choose a few more prayers. A rule that is too extensive can drain spiritual strength. Then the person will become upset and begin to reproach himself, which leads to despondency. And this is not the result that is needed.

Communication with the Creator should bring spiritual relief, give strength, and not plunge into sadness. Moreover, there is no need for such a state at the beginning of the day, when there is a lot to do ahead. The prayer of the last Optina elders, if read not mechanically, but with all attention, will bring balance and peace. It helps a lot to understand the meaning of the phrases that it is written in Russian. Therefore, it will be understandable to anyone.

The text may differ; our website contains a prayer that was blessed by the Optina fathers, so you can read it safely, without fear of spiritual harm. In any other cases, the texts should be shown to the priest, and only then read daily.

It should be noted that the elders wrote many other prayers, all of which are short. It is important not to repeat the same text over and over again, but to read it meaningfully. Then once is enough. God help you!

New book

The publishing house of our monastery has published a new book - “The Life of the Hieromartyr Veniamin (Kazan), Metropolitan of Petrograd and Gdov, and those like him who suffered the Venerable Martyr Sergius (Shein), the martyrs Yuri Novitsky and John Kovsharov » .

In the new book of the famous Russian hagiographer Archimandrite Damascene (Orlovsky), the reader is offered the life of Metropolitan Veniamin (Kazan) of Petrograd - one of the first holy martyrs who did not sin with their soul or conscience during the persecution that began and gave their life for Christ and His Church .

TO then he considers himself an unworthy sinner, he cries about his sins. But one who realizes his own lack of worth and weeps about his sins cannot be subject to anger. He will be a kro-tok according to the example of Spa-si-te-la, Who said: Na-u-chi-te-sya from Me, because I am a kro-tok and humble in heart (Matt. 11:29).

Believers who are just beginning their journey in faith recognize many saints who are not entirely known to them.

For example, such personalities as: Monks of the Optina Monastery. Reading the prayers of the monks of the Optina Monastery every day helps to be in a good mood and has a positive effect on achieving all your goals.

Who are the Optina elders

The differences from other elders were that:

  • The Lord rewarded them with his gift
  • Served people
  • Truly believed in our Almighty
  • Prayed for forgiveness for all sinners

In addition, the monks were excellent prophets, they saw the future perfectly, and also had the gift of remembering events of the distant past.

They were wonderful healers, which is why many believers went to this monastery in search of healing of soul and body.

The most famous of the elders were:

  • Lev Danilovich - this monk healed those who asked with oil from a lamp lamp, which was never extinguished.
  • Saint Seraphim was known as the most righteous man; all believers in the country tried to go to him for confession.
  • And the third elder, a follower of the teachings of Lev Danilovich, Makar - he could see the future.
  • Optina monks are holy fathers who were characterized by high religiosity, true faith, purity of thoughts, and holiness.

Prayer of the Optina elders read the text for every day and the beginning of the day

The prayer is said early in the morning, as soon as people have woken up from sleep. In order for the prayer to be heard by the elders, the petition must be pronounced with a grasp of the essence. When reading a prayer, you need to meaningfully prepare yourself for a frank conversation with the Lord God, and not for the sake of a tick, so that it is just like that. The prayer book should not be read out of boredom; this is considered a sinful activity.

Most often, the prayer at the beginning of the day is said along with some others, such as “Our Father.” This will help break up your morning ritual a little. It is better to start turning to the Lord from the very early morning, with a clear head and an unclouded mind. It is not forbidden to submit a petition in your own words if you have not memorized the holy text.

Full text of morning and evening prayers:

My God, help me, with a calm soul, accept everything that this day will give me. Almighty, help me to completely fulfill Your righteous will. My Lord, I ask you throughout this day to guide me on the true path and help me. Almighty, I ask you to help me, accept the good and bad news that came to me throughout the day, with peace of mind and with full confidence that everything is your will, God’s. Show me your will of God, true for me and my friends.

My God, let your will be in all my deeds and motives, as well as in my thoughts and emotions. Almighty, remind me in troubles and hardships that everything is God’s will. My God, help me speak correctly and intelligently with my relatives and with all the people in my social circle: Old and small, and the same as me, so as not to offend anyone, but to guide them on the true path. Almighty, I ask you for patience to endure the entire daily day, rich in activities, and not feel tired. My God, guide me on the true path, and show me how to turn to You, not to lose faith, how not to remember an insult, how not to lose hope and love, and endure all hardships.

Almighty, do not leave me without help before my enemies, but in the name of You, our Father, lead me and command me. God, cleanse my mind and soul for the understanding of God’s canons, unchanged forever and ever, so that I, Your careless Servant, can follow You faithfully and without offending my neighbors. Almighty, thank you for everything that happens to me, I truly believe that you will not send anything bad to your loved ones.
God, give me your blessing: for all my actions, thoughts and desires, for all my movement through life, give me the opportunity to sincerely praise and thank You, because You are always praised in everything. Amen.

This prayer helps heal the spiritual body and helps to acquire wisdom and harmony in oneself. It must be said at dawn in order to start working without problems. This prayer also has a short version of reading, but it is better to say the full version.

The elders of the Optina monastery are clergy who are characterized by high spirituality, faith, holiness and purity of soul.

Prayers of the Elders

The prayer of the Optina elders at the beginning of the day should be said as soon as a person wakes up in the morning. For the sacrament to happen correctly, you need to pray with understanding. You need to pronounce the holy text, realizing and tuning yourself to turn to the Lord, and not for the sake of marking that it was done. Prayer should not become boring, for this would be a great sin.

Often the morning prayer of the Optina elders is read together with other prayers, for example, “Our Father.” This helps add variety to your morning routine. You should pray every day with a fresh head and a clear mind. You are allowed to use your own words if the text is difficult to remember.

Prayer of the Optina Elders, text:

Lord, let me meet with peace of mind everything that the coming day will bring me.

Lord, let me completely surrender to Your holy will.

Lord, at every hour of this day, instruct and support me in everything.

Lord, guide my thoughts and feelings in all my words and thoughts.

Lord, in all unforeseen cases, do not let me forget that everything was sent down by You.

Lord, teach me to correctly, simply, rationally treat everyone at home and those around me, elders, equals and juniors, so that I do not upset anyone, but contribute to the good of everyone.

Lord, give me strength to endure the fatigue of the coming day and all the events during the day.

Lord, You yourself guide my will and teach me to pray, hope, believe, love, endure and forgive.

Lord, do not leave me to the mercy of my enemies, but for the sake of Your holy name, lead and rule me.

Lord, enlighten my mind and my heart to understand Your eternal and unchangeable laws that govern the world, so that I, Your sinful servant, can correctly serve You and my neighbors.

Lord, I thank You for everything that will happen to me, for I firmly believe that all things work together for good to those who love You.

Lord, bless all my exits and entries, deeds, words and thoughts, deign me to always joyfully glorify, sing and bless You, for You are blessed forever and ever.

This sacred text helps to heal the soul, achieve wisdom and inner harmony. You should read it at the beginning of the day in order to get ready for good work. It is best to use the full version of the prayer, but you can also read a short version.

Whatever news I receive during the day, teach me to accept it with a calm soul and the firm conviction that everything is Your holy will. Amen.

Whatever prayer is used, the main thing is to say it with faith and love for the Lord God.

4 thoughts on “Prayer of the Optina Elders for every day”

I am 51 years old. Since childhood, I have lived in prayer with the word of God with the Most Holy Mother of God. Although we had no church in Kazakhstan at that time. But my parents always believed in the power of God’s prayer. And we are so my best Dad and Mom I was brought up that way. I believe in the power of worship.

Svetlana Galkina Now Puzankova.Germany 01/16/2017

Rika, yes. Look at the prayer to Archangel Michael - in the right field, point 1 of “Useful reading”. It also seems like there is a prayer to Jesus Christ for the evil eye and damage.

I would like that when citing the text of the prayer here, people do not make mistakes, demonstrating ignorance of the basics of the Russian language. Errors distort the meaning. “NOT” and “NOR” have opposite meanings. And one more thing. People do not “come to religion”; believers firmly know that faith, as the Apostle Paul said, “... does not come from us, it is God’s gift.”

WHAT DOES THE HOLY PRAYER OF THE OPTINA ELDERS HELP WITH?

There is probably no person in Russia who has not heard about Optina Pustyn. Optina is a very famous monastery, spiritual and pilgrimage center. Over the several centuries of its existence, this holy monastery raised and gave to the world fourteen lights, the great Optina elders. Even N.V. Gogol wrote about the Optina elders only in excellent form, he noted their radiance, love for all living things, simplicity, affection, and hard work. The special atmosphere of the Optina Hermitage and the blessed cover of the Mother of God over it have always contributed to the fact that people from all over Russia came to the monastery to the elders for spiritual guidance, help, advice, and prayerful support. The monastery is also famous for its publishing business: spiritual literature published in Optina is distributed throughout the world and brings spiritual joy to Orthodox Christians. And the morning prayer of the Optina elders is included in the obligatory prayer rule, and is read daily by millions of Orthodox Russians.

Strong Orthodox prayer of the Optina elders for peace of mind

The gift of prayer of the Optina elders helped them gain popular love even during their lifetime, and their ability to see the human soul gave them the opportunity to find the right words for each person, to encourage, console, and suggest what to do in a given life situation. Text of the Orthodox prayer of the Optina elders at the beginning of each day

Amen.

God, come to my help, Lord, strive for my help.
