The best and most reliable crossovers. We choose a crossover on the secondary market. State "before" and "after"

Cars in Russia off-road have gained great popularity; first of all, they are valued for their excellent technical characteristics, the ability to overcome difficult sections of the road, and their presentable appearance. But not all cars meet the expectations of car owners, because reliable SUVs should rarely break down, have a long service life of the engine and transmission parts, and be well adapted to harsh off-road conditions.

Ratings of SUV class cars are constantly published on the Internet, and completely different models are at the top of the charts, among the best, every time. The whole point is that when choosing best SUV Various criteria are taken into account - there are TOP budget and prestigious cars, often the list includes not only real all-terrain vehicles, but also crossovers, SUVs, and much more depends on the year of manufacture of the vehicle, engine type, and efficiency.

TOP 10 reliable SUVs for Russian roads

Undoubtedly, a car is considered reliable if it requires as little repair as possible during its operation. vehicle, contact a car service or service station. List best models often compiled without taking into account discontinued cars; in some cases, only used cars are considered. In this TOP 10 we included SUVs that are deservedly popular among Russian motorists regardless of year of manufacture, mileage, cost. So, the top ten best 4x4 cars include:

  • Toyota Land Cruiser 200;
  • Range Rover;
  • Lexus GX470;
  • Infiniti QX56;
  • Cadillac Escalade;
  • Hummer H2;
  • Mercedes W166;
  • Jeep Cherokee XJ;
  • Nissan Patrol.

In the published ratings of “the most reliable SUV”, such popular models as Toyota RAV4, BMW X5, Mazda CX-7, Honda CR-V. But if we take a strict approach, all these listed brands, like many others (for example, Renault Duster, Hyundai Santa Fe), belong to the class of crossovers and are not true all-terrain vehicles for a number of reasons:

  • are not always equipped with all-wheel drive;
  • in many cases they do not have a lower range of gears;
  • often do not have high ground clearance, which provides very good cross-country ability.

Previously, it was believed that a real all-terrain vehicle should only have a frame structure, but since recently a body on a frame has become less and less common, the type of vehicle was no longer classified according to this criterion.

The most economical SUVs for Russia

Fuel consumption is an important indicator for a car, but the concepts of “SUV” in the true sense and “economical” are not always incompatible. In order for an all-terrain vehicle to overcome difficult sections of roads, it must be equipped not only with an all-wheel drive transmission, large wheels, high ground clearance, but still have a fairly powerful, high-volume engine. Nevertheless, there are SUVs that are capable of using fuel quite economically, most often these are cars with small dimensions and a diesel engine. Models in this category include:

  • Range Rover Evoque;
  • Jeep Cherokee XJ;
  • Chevrolet Niva;
  • Suzuki Jimny;
  • Mercedes-Benz W463.

Of course, fuel consumption depends on the type and size of the engine; it is unlikely that a Mercedes Gelandwagen will be economical if it has a five-liter power unit. But with diesel engine 2.7 L, this car consumes fuel very, very moderately, especially on the highway and without a heavy load.

Someone might argue that there are many models that are characterized by more economical fuel consumption, but again these are mainly crossovers and SUVs, with small-displacement internal combustion engines and not the most high ground clearance. It should be noted that the UAZ Patriot with a diesel engine also consumes relatively little fuel if it is equipped with a ZMZ-51432 or Iveco F1A engine.

Rating of the most inexpensive used SUVs

For Russia, with its sometimes impassable roads, buying an SUV often becomes an urgent need; not only hunters and fishermen buy cars, but also residents of remote villages and hamlets. Here the question often arises - how to buy an inexpensive car, and at the same time of sufficient quality; saving money is forced by a very limited budget. Purchasing a used car in this case is a very reasonable decision, although there are many pitfalls in this option. When buying a used car, you should pay close attention to the technical condition of the vehicle; if you buy a car with serious defects, in the future you will have to invest a lot of money and your labor into it.

Often, hints on which used SUV to choose can be found on car forums; drivers express positive opinions about the models:

  • Nissan Patrol;
  • Opel Frontera;
  • Isuzu Trooper;
  • Mitsubishi Pajero III;
  • Great Wall Hover;
  • Ssangyong Rexton;
  • Ssangyong Kyron (all-wheel drive version).

One could also consider the Pajero II model, but finding such a car with a good body condition is very difficult.

Russian UAZ and Niva cars in all modifications are inexpensive, but it’s difficult to talk about reliability here, although in capable hands and if you want to do the repairs yourself, buying a Russian SUV is a very good option. Among domestic cars There are also models that are in demand and have such important characteristics as excellent maneuverability, ease of repair and maintenance, and low price.

Rating of the best Russian SUVs

Russian automakers are often criticized for low build quality and a large number of defects, however, there are car models that have conquered not only Russia, but also the West. Although domestic SUVs are not considered the most reliable in the world, they have unique technical characteristics and, in terms of cross-country ability, compete with the best foreign-made all-terrain vehicles.

First place In the ranking of the best Russian 4x4 cars, the VAZ-2121 (Lada 4x4) is occupied; this model has repeatedly participated in international competitions and won such prestigious rallies as Paris - Dakar. Lada can easily overcome rough terrain and climb mountains, so it is rightfully considered a high-altitude car.

Second the most popular domestic SUV is the UAZ-469, currently it has passed the baton to the no less famous “Kozlik” UAZ Hunter. This all-terrain vehicle can be driven through areas where there are no roads at all, and has amazing cross-country ability even without any lifting or installation of special mud tires.

Third on the list of domestically produced “rogues” is the UAZ Patriot; unlike the previous two models, this car can be used not only off-road, but is also well suited for city driving. The UAZ has a fairly comfortable and spacious interior, not the poorest set of additional options; in rich trim levels it is even equipped with cruise control, air conditioning, a multimedia center and a pre-heater.

Fourth place The ranking is occupied by the T-98 Kombat special vehicle, which looks like a tank and has an armored body. Although the design of the car is frameless, the body elements of the car are made of high-alloy steel, its armor is capable of protecting against bullets from a Kalashnikov assault rifle.

There are Russian SUVs that do not make it into the TOP, but you should also pay attention to them. One of these cars is the Derways 3131 “Cowboy”, built on the platform of the Romanian ARO model, has a very aggressive appearance, has a spacious interior, a large trunk, is distinguished by a high seating position and excellent cross-country ability. “Caucasian Jeep” is similar in appearance to Gelendvagen, the model was produced from 2003 to 2006.

Land Cruiser 200 is one of the most reliable SUVs in the world

The Toyota Land Cruiser 200 model has been produced since 2007 and is supplied to Russia with two types of engines:

  • V-shaped turbodiesel (8 cylinders) 4.5 l;
  • petrol "eight" 4.7 l Euro-4.

Of course, the “200th” is an extremely reliable, large and generally unpretentious car, but paradoxically, it is rarely used for driving on heavy off-road conditions, and is mainly used in the city. You can understand why this happens - this model is purchased to assert its status, and far from poor people drive such a car.

Although the Kruzak is a prestigious and expensive car, it has not only advantages, but also its disadvantages. The advantages of this machine include:

  • rich equipment even in the basic configuration;
  • huge interior and impressive trunk size;
  • good maneuverability and controllability, road stability;
  • excellent visibility;
  • big ground clearance(230 mm);
  • soft suspension that absorbs all irregularities;
  • good sound insulation;
  • warm interior that quickly warms up in frosty weather.

But although the LC 200 is characterized by rich equipment and high-quality finishing materials, its interior still lacks any special chic, and compared, for example, with a cool Mercedes, it looks quite gray inside. Another very serious minus - high consumption fuel, especially in cars with gasoline engines; here, during dynamic driving, fuel consumption can reach 30 liters per 100 km. Car owners also have complaints about the standard lighting, the quality of body paint, and one of the characteristic “diseases” of the Land Cruiser 200 is weak brakes.

Features of the Mitsubishi Pajero IV SUV

Unlike the LC 200, the Mitsubishi Pajero is not considered a brutal city car for the elite; rather, it belongs to the category of “workhorses”. This model has been produced since 1982; by 2018, four generations had already been produced; the car has been restyled several times. For Russia, the 4th Pajero is available with 3.0 liter gasoline engines (6 cylinders) and 3.2 liter turbodiesels (in-line four). The SUV's wheel drive is plug-in all-wheel drive, there is a center differential with locking, and a number of low gears.

Characteristic Mitsubishi differences Pajero IV:

  • Interior quality is average;
  • quite stiff suspension;
  • very good handling even off-road;
  • not too high fuel requirements.

It may seem strange, but on the Pajero the steering column is adjustable only for the angle of inclination; adjustment for reach is not provided. In terms of reliability, handling, visibility, and cross-country ability, car owners have no complaints about this car, but the following disadvantages should be highlighted:

  • not the best sound insulation;
  • high fuel consumption and poor dynamics in cars with a 3-liter gasoline engine;
  • expensive maintenance and spare parts.

Pajero IV also does not have the lowest price, but a real Japanese SUV cannot be too cheap.

Full-size SUV Range Rover L405

Range Rover in the L405 body has been produced since 2012, this is the fourth generation of this model. If at the very beginning of the two thousandth company cars Land Rover were not highly reliable, then later, after 2006, the automaker corrected many of the shortcomings, although even now you can hear various complaints from car owners.

Range Rover is an expensive and prestigious car with many advantages:

  • spacious interior with rich finishing;
  • a large number of additional options even in the simplest configuration;
  • high level of comfort;
  • excellent maneuverability and stability on the road;
  • excellent dynamics with any type of engine;
  • good sound insulation;
  • thoughtful standard navigation.

The car is equipped with air suspension, thanks to which you can change the ground clearance; in terms of comfort, Range Rover surpasses even BMW, Mercedes and Toyota. But the SUV also has disadvantages, and in some cases they are quite serious:

  • knocking in the front suspension;
  • weak paintwork;
  • electrical problems.

Since there are a lot of electronics in the car, it can periodically malfunction. The electrical part is a sore spot for Range Rover cars; here you can understand the indignant car owners who bought a car for more than six million rubles, but it refuses to drive.

A crossover is a practical and convenient thing, but expensive. What if you look at a car with low mileage? Then you can easily stay within the range of 600-900 thousand rubles.

Let's find out which model will cause the least amount of trouble.

For ease of navigation, we have divided our publication into three parts. In the first we will tell you what you can count on with up to 600 thousand rubles in your pocket, in the second - up to 800 thousand, and in the third - up to 1 million rubles. There are eight crossovers in total. Which one is more reliable?

Renault Duster

Duster was introduced to the world back in 2009 under the Dacia brand. The car, already with the Renault emblem, reached us only in 2012. The model has three engines - 1.6 and 2 liter petrol and 1.5 liter diesel. Front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, and even the basic 1.6-liter “baby” can have either front or all-wheel drive.

The same is true with a 2-liter engine, but the default diesel engine has a 4x4 formula. Only the 2-liter engine is equipped with an automatic transmission, and starting this year it can be ordered along with all-wheel drive. Most aftermarket cars have all-wheel drive and a manual transmission, about a quarter are equipped with an automatic transmission, and there are only a dozen scarce 4x4s with automatic transmission throughout the country.

Breakdowns and waste

There were many minor problems with cars in the early years, which dealers fixed under warranty. Thus, the problem of timing belt whistling arose due to its design feature.

If on vehicles with all-wheel drive rear wheels turn off in first or second gear, which means you need to update the program in the control unit. This happened due to a problematic firmware of the 4WD system ECU algorithm. You can “reflash” it at any dealer for free.

Before purchasing, check the floor under the passenger floor mat. If there is moisture there, it means they are trying to sell you a car with an unupgraded climate system. When the air conditioner is running, condensation will constantly flow past the drain hole.

Drivers note that the fuel level sensor often lies because the working measuring surface of the sensor becomes clogged with tarry deposits due to our poor fuel. Renault replaced the entire fuel level sensor unit under warranty.

Oil stains sometimes appear on the oil seal at the junction of the drive and the gearbox, since the bearing is not pressed properly at the factory. If the problem is not eliminated (that is, the bearing is not changed), then the entire box can be “killed.” We have already written about how this happens in the article about.

If the paintwork starts to crack, it will be first in the places of welds, especially in the rear and on the gutters, so check the body carefully before purchasing.

Suzuki SX4

This “semi-crossover” (as an option - an all-terrain hatchback) appeared on sale in our country (as well as throughout the world) in 2006. At first, the company presented only a five-door car, and the sedan entered the production line a year later.

The hatchback allows you to choose between front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive, while the sedan only has the 4x2 formula available. But both the hatchback and the sedan are equipped with an automatic transmission. All-wheel drive in the five-door is combined with an automatic transmission. There is no variety of engines in the SX4 in our country - for Russia the Japanese left only a 1.6-liter engine with 112 hp.

A few words about the Japanese and Hungarian assembly. There are many myths about this on the Internet. All sedans on our market are Japanese. But with a hatch it’s more difficult: until 2011, only top-end GLX configurations with automatic transmission(with front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive), and the rest are from Hungary. In the fall of 2011, the Hungarian assembly line in Esztergom mastered the full line of SX4, and since then all cars officially delivered to our country have Hungarian roots. The “Europeans” have a slightly different bumper design compared to the “Japanese”. There are no striking differences in quality, although mechanics identify some purely “Hungarian” breakdowns, which we will describe below.

The timing chain is working properly. If it was pulled out, it was literally in isolated cases and at least after 150,000 km. The chain itself is inexpensive, but along with it you need to replace two tensioners and a pusher. The attachment belt has to be changed every 90,000 km.

The generator on Hungarian copies may fail if the car is not driven for a couple of weeks. The clutch on front-wheel drive vehicles lasts an average of 100,000 km, but in 4x4 vehicles its service life is usually 30-40% less.

The hubs can withstand an average of 70,000 – 100,000 km on our roads. The lower arms calmly move away from 150,000 to 200,000 km.

Skoda Yeti

The first and so far only crossover of the Czech brand has been sold since 2009, and in 2013 the model was restyled, losing its signature round headlights. There were three engines at the start of sales - TSI 1.2 and 1.8 liter petrol engines and a 2 liter TDI diesel engine. Since 2012 in power line a 1.4 TSI engine appeared.

Engines 1.2 and 1.4 have front-wheel drive, the rest have all-wheel drive with a Haldex clutch. Boxes - “mechanics” or “robot” DSG. In the aftermarket, most of the offers come with a base 1.2 engine, which, thanks to supercharging, is quite enough for a quiet ride.

There are also plenty of cars with a 1.8 engine, but almost all of them have manual transmissions, since automatic transmission I received this motor only a couple of years ago. There are not many copies with a diesel engine, since immediately after the start of sales, Skoda excluded it from the line and returned it only two years ago. Cars come to our market from Kaluga and the Czech Republic.

Breakdowns and waste

On 1.2 and 1.8 TSI engines, the timing chain is already stretched to 70,000 km. On the 1.2 engine, due to its small volume, problems arise with heating in winter. If you stand in a traffic jam at -20 ° C, then the car literally begins to cool down. This drawback was corrected in 2012, when an additional electric heater was added to the “base”. Turbines can withstand an average of 150,000 km. There are no special problems with a diesel engine.

With boxes the situation is more complicated. The model is equipped with a DSG “robot”, which we have written about several times. The most problematic option with a dry clutch (DSG7) is on the 1.2 engine. Many drivers changed the clutch set and mechatronics by 75,000 km. The first symptoms are vibration and jolts when shifting from first to second gear. On gearboxes with 1.8 and 2.0 diesel engines, the discs rotate in oil and this problem is much less common. But the warranty for DSG7 is 5 years or 150,000 km.

Stabilizer struts can withstand 30,000 – 40,000 km on our roads. Shock absorbers can last up to 100,000 km. On cars before 2013, the rubber on the front door seal often wore off the paint. This “illness” was also fixed under warranty.

Mitsubishi ASX

The car began to be assembled and sold in 2010. Prototype Mitsubishi ASX was inspired by the Concept-cX concept presented at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2007. The car has one body, five seats and three engines. All engines are conventional naturally aspirated petrol inline-fours. The base 1.6 is only available with front-wheel drive and a manual transmission. The 1.8 also has drive only on the front axle, but is equipped only with a CVT, and the most powerful 2-liter unit transmits torque to all four wheels and also only through a CVT. The wheel arrangement “4x2 + automatic transmission” or “4x4 + manual transmission” for the ASX, unfortunately, is not available. More than half of the offers on the secondary market are with a 1.8 engine, another third of the ads are with a 1.6 engine, and two-liter all-wheel drive vehicles approximately 12% of the total.

Breakdowns and waste

Timing chains are installed on all engines, and they ask for replacement only when the mileage exceeds 130–150 thousand km. The most common disease of the ASX is the fuel pump, which does not like bad gasoline. If the car does not start the first time, change the gas station. If the problem does not go away, you will have to take out the pump and check its condition. If it has not yet had time to “burn out,” then flushing will help. Otherwise - only replacement.

Oil stains on the driver's mat are not a cause for concern. This is grease dripping from the steering column parts, which was not spared at the factory when assembling the car. Over time, this “disease” goes away.

Problems with gear shifting on manual transmissions are most likely to blame for the outgoing brake fluid, since the clutch hydraulic fluid has a common reservoir with the brake fluid.

A strong whistle under the hood on a 1.8 engine is most often associated with a faulty roller drive belt- it was often replaced under warranty. Another weak point is the generator on this engine. Owners of cars manufactured in 2012-2013 especially often applied for a generator replacement under warranty.

Mitsubishi Outlander XL

Mitsubishi, as always, has a generational mix-up. As in the case of , marketers have complicated and confused everything. The second generation Outlander, built on the same platform as the tenth Lancer, appeared in 2007 and turned out to be 10 centimeters longer than its predecessor. During 2007 and 2008, they were sold on the market simultaneously, occupying slightly different market niches. For the larger Outlander-2, they came up with the XL prefix. The 2010 restyling added to the confusion, during which the model received a completely different front design in the Jet Fighter style. Since the appearance has changed so much, many consider the restyled cars to be the third generation “Outlanders”... But all this fuss does not detract from the merits of the car.

There are three engines - two in-line naturally aspirated “fours” with a volume of 2 and 2.4 liters and a 3-liter V6. Drive - front-wheel drive or plug-in all-wheel drive. Officially, only 5-seater versions were brought to us, but on the secondary market it is very rare, but still there are copies from Europe with a 7-seater interior.

All the cars initially came to us from Japan, but since 2010, large-unit assembly was established at the PSMA Rus plant near Kaluga.

Breakdowns and waste

The V6 engine has a timing belt, which is changed according to regulations every 90,000 km. Around this time, the attachment belt is usually changed. The 2.0 and 2.4 liter engines are equipped with a timing chain, the operating time of which is calculated for the entire life of the engine.

All three engines are very reliable, do not have turbines and easily “digest” our fuel. True, if you fill your car with bad fuel, the catalysts will not last even 80,000 km.

A manual transmission and a variator are installed on 2.0 and 2.4 liter engines, while the 3-liter unit only has a classic torque converter. If the clutch in the manual transmission requires replacement, it will most likely not be earlier than 150,000 km.

The transmission oil must be changed regularly. In a variator, this must be done every 90,000 km, and in “mechanics” and “automatic” - every 120,000 km. If the variator overheats (happens in hot weather and after prolonged load), a light on the instrument panel will tell you about this. There is no need to panic, but you should immediately turn off the engine and let it cool. Alas, the variator’s tendency to overheat can be attributed to the car’s “family” problems.

Volkswagen Tiguan

A compact crossover, built on the same platform as the Golf and Skoda Yeti, appeared in 2007. The range of engines includes five options - 1.4 TSI (122 or 150 hp), 2.0 TSI (170 or 200 hp) and 2.0 TDI (140 hp). Drive - front or full with Haldex clutch. Boxes – manual transmission, classic “automatic” or “robot” DSG, in six- or seven-speed versions. Cars are brought to us either from Germany or from near Kaluga, with approximately the same level of build quality. About 70% of cars presented on the secondary market have an automatic transmission and only 30% have a manual transmission. Almost 90% of cars have all-wheel drive.

Two liter gasoline engine, regardless of the number of “horses” under the hood, it likes to eat up oil. But the diesel engine has no problems, except for its low prevalence and high cost on the secondary market.

Diesel engines have a regular automatic transmission, and the problematic seven-speed DSG, which we dedicated to, appeared only on a 150-horsepower engine, and then only after 2012. Among the troubles it is worth noting wheel bearings, which sometimes begin to hum already at 30,000 km.

Chevrolet Captiva/Opel Antara

Captiva went on sale in Russia in 2007, and its “twin” Antara entered the market a year later. Both cars are technically very similar and differ mainly in design.

Today, the domestic market offers a huge selection of crossovers, which allows you to truly find reliable copy, and not alone. There are budget models to choose from, widely represented middle class cars Elite car brands stand a little apart, a priori implying impeccable quality and high reliability.

To make our review more relevant, offers from the Russian secondary market were studied, mileage and owners’ opinions were taken into account. Based on reliability information obtained from open sources, crossover models took certain positions in the rating.

Top 10 most reliable crossovers

10 CHEVROLET NIVA

Favorable price. Low operating costs
Country: Russia
Average price: 588,000 rub.
Rating (2019): 4.0

Our rating would not be complete if we did not pay due attention to this crossover. It is moderately comfortable (there are models with a climate system, power steering, etc.), and demonstrates high maneuverability and controllability. Generally, power point and transmission deserve respect - regular maintenance using high-quality consumables ensures long-term maintenance-free operation.

Compared to imported cars, the Chevrolet Niva suspension is not so reliable and more often requires replacement of parts. At the same time, we should pay tribute to the affordability of spare parts. They are inexpensive, and in comparison with imported analogues, they cost much less.

9 LIFAN X60

The most reliable Chinese crossover
Country: China
Average price: RUB 669,900.
Rating (2019): 4.3

Unpretentious in maintenance, this Chinese crossover demonstrates enviable reliability and practicality. Almost all owners talk about the feeling of fear that possessed them at the time of purchasing the Lifan X60. After 50,000 km, they began to consider this crossover one of the most reliable (not among the Chinese ones, but in general!).

During operation on Russian roads, the crossover did not cause any particular problems to its owners. There are minor errors made during assembly; the pump may fail (not for everyone). The suspension has proven itself quite worthy on our roads, and the power unit of the crossover works like a Swiss mechanism (if you change the oil on time). On the secondary market, for a used X60 with a mileage of around a hundred they ask for 350-400 thousand rubles, which for a Chinese car is also an indicator of high quality and reliability.

8 MAZDA CX-5

Reliable car
Country: Japan
Average price: RUB 1,400,000.
Rating (2019): 4.6

Another Japanese crossover that became a participant in our rating. There is no intent here, and the owners of the presented SUVs can confirm that their cars belong to the category of the most practical and reliable on the domestic market. This is a fairly recent crossover model, and it is impossible to find a car older than 6 years.

During this time, the Mazda CX-5 was able to evolve very seriously, and all the flaws that were in the first generations are completely absent in the new models. However, I dare to assure you that the shortcomings were minor (water getting into the camera rear view, low electrolyte density in the battery, hood rattling, etc.), which can also be evidenced by the activity of the secondary market. Thus, a 5-year-old crossover with a mileage of 90-95 thousand km is offered at a price of 900,000 rubles and above.

7 RENAULT DUSTER

The best combination of price and quality. Economical engine
Country: France
Average price: 649,000 rub.
Rating (2019): 4.6

One of the most reliable and inexpensive crossovers, Duster is popular in automotive market Russia. Both new models and used cars are in demand in our country. The motors have a decent service life (300 thousand km), which can be extended with timely maintenance and the use of high-quality consumables. In addition, the 1.5-liter diesel engine is very economical - it consumes only 5.3 l/100 km (combined cycle).

Secondary market prices for crossovers of this brand are kept at a good level - for a “not damaged” copy, 5-6 years old and with a mileage of about 100 thousand km, today they ask about 450,000 rubles. The only weak point that can be pointed out is the ignition coil in the first generation of the crossover. It breaks quite often due to weak seals.

6 HONDA CR-V

High reliability of the power plant
Country: Japan
Average price: RUB 1,750,000.
Rating (2019): 4.8

The popularity of this model led to the emergence of the fourth generation of Honda CR-V crossovers. It is due to its more than reliable design and components, as well as a fairly high level of comfort. The secondary market offers models more than 10-12 years old at a price of about 700 thousand rubles, and cars produced in 2012-2013 cost about a million. The price range indicates the high reliability of this car, and this is especially true for the CR-V engine and body.

If the previous owner did not skimp on maintenance and consumables, and promptly replaced worn-out components, then a 12-year-old crossover will be able to demonstrate its reliability to the new owner. After 150 thousand kilometers, malfunctions in attachments (generator, starter, air conditioner) may occur, which can be resolved by deep maintenance (replacing brushes, relays, bearings, etc.).

5 HYUNDAI SANTA FE

Better suspension endurance
Country: South Korea
Average price: RUB 1,780,000.

Continuing the list of the most reliable crossovers is the used 2013 Subaru XV Crosstrek, which has standard all-wheel drive and a high safety rating. However, the low-power engine prevents it from being a leader in its class.

Advantages:

  • All-wheel drive by default.
  • Good fuel economy.
  • One of the most reliable crossovers.

Flaws:

  • Weak engine.
  • Nondescript interior materials.

There are several good reasons to consider a used 2013 Subaru XV Crosstrek. It offers the rare combination of standard all-wheel drive and impressive fuel economy, along with a strong safety record. That said, it's not a particularly good subcompact SUV. The engine is weak and the reliability rating is as bad as it gets. A gloomy interior also detracts from its appeal.

Thanks to all-wheel drive, the 2013 Subaru XV Crosstrek, equipped with a 148-horsepower four-cylinder engine, has trouble accelerating on the highway. The five-speed manual transmission provides a decent 10 hp. per 100 km. in the city and 8 liters on the highway. With its available automatic transmission, fuel economy improves at 9.4 liters. in the city and 7.3 l. on the highway. This good grades for the class. Despite the XV Crosstrek's height, it handles like car. The brakes are strong and the all-wheel drive system is good dirt roads and in bad weather.

While the five-passenger 2013 Subaru XV Crosstrek has a handsome interior design, its plastic surfaces are dull and low-budget. There is plenty of space for passengers in both rows. Each rear outboard seat has a full set of latches for installing child seats. The 2013 XV Crosstrek comes with USB and auxiliary ports, as well as Bluetooth. It is available with navigation, a sunroof, automatic climate control, leather upholstery, a 4.3-inch LCD screen and HD radio.

The average price of the 2013 XV Crosstrek ranges from $14,200 for the 2.0i Premium trim with manual transmission to about $16,000 for the 2.0i Limited trim with automatic transmission. However, the final price depends on the location, condition, mileage and features of the SUV.

The Subaru XV Crosstrek received crash test ratings from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, but not from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The IIHS gave it its top rating of "Good" in all four of its tests (moderate overlap frontal, side impact, rear crash protection and roof strength). There are no standard active safety features, but a backup camera is available.

Sporty handling and a peppy turbocharged engine make it a used car to drive. Nissan Juke 2013 was an absolute pleasure. However, it suffers from harsh handling and a cramped cabin.

Advantages:

  • Sporty design.
  • Greater fuel economy.

Flaws:

  • Small salon.
  • Cheap interior materials.

If you want a fun subcompact crossover and don't need a lot of cargo or interior space, the Nissan Juke is great buy. It offers powerful engines and maneuverability.

The front-wheel drive Nissan Juke has two turbocharged four-cylinder engines. The 188-horsepower base engine delivers brisk acceleration. The performance-oriented Juke Nismo instead produces 197 horsepower. An automatic transmission is standard, and a six-speed manual transmission transmission is available on SV, SL and Nismo trim levels with front-wheel drive. All-wheel drive is available on all trim levels.

With an automatic transmission, the base Juke gets up to 8.7 liters. per 100 km. in the city and 7.5 l. per 100 km. on the highway, which are among the best fuel economy estimates for any SUV. From behind the wheel, the Juke offers sharp handling and agile handling. However, its sporty styling makes handling quite tight. If you want even sharper driving dynamics, check out the Juke Nismo. It has a sport suspension for more agile cornering.

The Nissan Juke seats five people in two rows. Its interior features distinctive sporty styling and comfortable technical features. However, it is made mostly from inexpensive materials. Like most subcompact SUVs, the Juke has enough front-seat room for average-sized adults. The rear seats are cramped, offering little headroom due to the low roofline. Each of the rear outboard seats has a full selection of child seat connections.

Standard features on the 2013 Juke include an auxiliary input jack and Bluetooth phone connectivity. Some models may come with navigation, a USB port, a Rockford Fosgate stereo or touchless push-button start.

The average price of a used 2013 Nissan Juke ranges from nearly $10,000 for the base model Juke S with automatic transmission and front-wheel drive to nearly $13,300 for the Juke Nismo with automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. Advantages:

  • Stylish classic design.
  • The rear seat increases seating capacity to five.
  • High safety ratings.

Flaws:

  • Low technical characteristics.
  • Insufficient engine power.
  • Rough ride.

The Used 2013 Mini Countryman offers sharp driving dynamics. However, you give up ride comfort for its sporty handling. Plus, some competitors have better interiors with much more convenient tech features than this mini crossover.

The base model Mini Countryman is equipped with a four-cylinder engine producing 121 horsepower. With. It doesn't provide enough power for the car's hefty weight, so acceleration is rather sluggish. Luckily, the Cooper S and John Cooper Works (JCW) trim levels feature powerful turbocharged four-cylinder engines that generate 181 and 208 horsepower, respectively. Front wheel drive and a six-speed manual transmission are standard, all-wheel drive (which Mini calls ALL4) is also available and automatic transmission with six speeds. With the base engine and automatic transmission, the Countryman gets 9.4 mpg. per 100 km. in the city and 8.1 l. on the highway. While these are very good fuel economy estimates for the class, prepare to spend more at the pump for premium fuel. The Countryman delivers engaging driving dynamics and sharp steering. Its ride quality also feels overly firm.

The 2013 Mini Countryman's interior features retro touches such as toggle switches and round gauges. Interior materials look good, but the combination of hard and soft plastics feels a little cheap. The speedometer can also be difficult to read due to its location in the center of the dashboard. The Countryman seats five with the standard rear seat or four with available rear bucket seats. There's plenty of room in the front and rear seats for most average-sized adults. The rear outboard seats have full sets of connectors for installing child car seats, while the middle seat only has a seat belt.

Standard features include a six-speaker stereo with an auxiliary jack, HD radio and Bluetooth. Features to choose from include satellite radio, a USB port, a Harman Kardon stereo, a panoramic sunroof, the Mini Connected infotainment system and navigation. Interior technology—including audio, navigation, and climate control—is confusing and difficult to use.

The 2013 Countryman with front-wheel drive has average price about $12,400, while the John Cooper Works model with all-wheel drive (ALL4) costs about $20,500. However, your price may vary depending on the location, condition, mileage and features of the SUV.

The Mini Countryman has an above-average reliability rating of four out of five. Only the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety provides crash test ratings for the 2013 Mini Countryman. It earned a Top Safety Pick award and excellent scores in all five crash tests. The 2013 Countryman doesn't have driver-assist safety features, while most competitors have a rearview camera.

The 2013 Countryman is part of the first generation of the SUV, which includes 2011-2019 models. If you need five seats, you should buy the 2013 model, which was the first to add a standard rear row, increasing the seating capacity from four to five. For performance enthusiasts, 2013 also marks the first year of the John Cooper Works Countryman. However, if you're not interested in expanded seats or a performance model, you should look no further than the similar 2011 and 2012 models.

The Mini Certified program offers two levels of warranty coverage depending on the age and mileage of the vehicle. The original new vehicle warranty has been extended to five years.
