It is extremely important that the correct spark plugs are installed in your vehicle. this engine(types of candles are given in the Specifications at the beginning of this Chapter). If the requirements of the Specifications are met, candles should not require special attention in the intervals between the intervals of the current change of spark plugs, it may occasionally be necessary to clean the spark plugs, which should not be undertaken without the presence of special equipment, since otherwise the working ends of the electrodes can easily be damaged.

1. To prevent dirt and foreign particles from entering the cylinders, it is necessary to remove dirt from the surface adjacent to the spark plug holes using a brush, vacuum cleaner or compressed air.
2. With spark plug key, a suitable tubular wrench or a deep socket screwdriver and an extension, remove the spark plugs. Keep the replacement head strictly parallel to the spark plug; if the head moves or tilts to the side, the ceramic body of the spark plug can easily be damaged.
3. After removing all spark plugs, inspect them as follows.
4. Inspecting the spark plugs provides good information about the condition of the engine. If the spark plug insulator is clean and white with no deposits, it indicates the mixture is too lean or the plug is too hot (a hot plug transfers heat from the electrode slowly, while a cold plug transfers heat quickly).
5. If the plug tip and insulator are covered with a thick layer of black deposits, this indicates that the mixture is too rich. If the spark plug is black and oily, this generally indicates severe engine wear, as well as the supply of a mixture that is too rich.
6. If the insulator is covered with a light coating of gray-brown deposits, this indicates the correct mixture and that the engine is in good condition.
7. Very important parameter is the spark plug electrode gap. So, if the gap is too large or too small, the size of the spark and its efficiency will be seriously reduced. The electrode gap must be set in accordance with the values ​​given in the Specifications at the beginning of this Chapter.
8. To set the spark plug gap, measure the gap with a feeler gauge or wire gauge.
9. Or measure the gap with a wire gauge.
10. Then press or bend the outer electrode of the spark plug until the correct gap size is set. The center electrode of the spark plug should never be bent, as this may cause the insulator to crack and cause permanent damage to the spark plug. When using a meter probe, the gap is correct when the meter probe passes the gap between the resistance electrodes.
11. In stores car accessories There is always a special tool for adjusting the spark plug electrode gaps.
12. Before reinstalling the spark plugs, make sure that the threaded ring is securely fastened and that the outer surface of the spark plug threads is clean.
13. It is often difficult to insert the spark plug into the socket along the threads. To prevent thread stripping, place a short piece of rubber hose with an internal diameter of 7.94 mm onto the end of the spark plug. Flexible hose works like universal joint, and will help align the spark plug in the threaded hole. When the spark plug warps, the hose will begin to slip on the spark plug, thereby preventing the possibility of stripping the threads in the cylinder head made of aluminum. Remove the rubber hose and tighten the spark plug to the required torque using a spark plug wrench and then a torque wrench. Install all spark plugs in the same way.

11. Carefully, so as not to puncture the radiator, remove the knee pulley. I recommend leaving a couple of screws in it not completely unscrewed. I had it rusted to the shaft, I had to swing it with a crowbar, later I loosened it with my hands and removed it. I fucked for about 20 minutes.
12. Remove the upper timing case.
13. Remove the lower timing case. We see a belt.
14. Remove the car from gear.
15. We put the balloon on the crankshaft and turn the mechanism according to the marks to check how the old belt is aligned. If the motor worked well with the old belt, we don’t touch the rollers and pulleys!
16. Unscrew the tensioner roller - I just removed it together with the spring.
17. Remove the old belt.
18. We wipe everything there. We check whether the camshaft oil seal is sweating and what else is natural to look at.
19. Align the pulleys according to the marks. Be careful with the crankshaft roller! At first I took the technological hole for a mark.
20. It is convenient to use M8x80 bolts to fix the pulleys.
21. We put on a new roller, a new spring. We move the roller to a distant position (down and to the left), and secure it.

Here's a subtle point, the fuel injection pump pulley above it is easy to align with the mark, and install it in preload, in the initial injection phase.

26. Scroll the crankshaft with a balloon clockwise 5 full turns. We check the marks. If everything is fine, then tighten the tensioner roller. Torque 32-47 Nm. Don't overtighten! I pulled it over. I checked it. I unscrewed the bolt from the compressor, shortened it, and tried to engage the last threads of the thread. Horseradish there - picked again. Later, in a panic, I ran around the garages and found an M12 bolt from the Lada suspension and M12x1.25 taps. I drilled and cut with a screwdriver, however, the radiator had to be removed. It is impossible to drill through the block - experienced Koreans installed a certain element of hard metal in the depth of the hole, which does not allow the drill to go further
27. We put on the crankshaft pulley and tighten it with a pair of bolts. If you did not remove the cooling system, then start the engine. It should start in half a click. You can take a ride and check the draft and the absence of smoke. A couple of minutes is enough to understand what and how.
28. If everything is fine, then turn off, remove the pulley, and assemble the engine.
