What kind of automatic transmission for Volkswagen Tiguan. How does all-wheel drive on a Tiguan work, plug-in or permanent, why it doesn’t turn on. Other problems and malfunctions

The Trend&Fun package is purely urban in nature and has very weak off-road qualities. This version is available only in front-wheel drive.

Sport&Style is intended for fans of a sporty driving style, and in addition to modified suspension characteristics and a powerful engine, it is equipped with 17-inch wheels.

The off-road version of Truck&Field is equipped with a special “offroad” mode, which includes electronic locking of center differentials, modified shock absorber settings, a hill descent assistant and a standing start mode when going uphill. Constant four-wheel drive provides the car with excellent road grip on any surface, and the electronic control system instantly detects wheel slip and distributes torque, making the likelihood of the car skidding to zero.

The range of engines supplied to the domestic market includes turbo engines with a volume of 1.4 to 2.0 liters and a power of 122 to 210 hp

Depending on the vehicle configuration, it is equipped with a manual or 8-speed automatic transmission.

The history of the Volkswagen Tiguan

This car was first presented in Frankfurt in 2007. This model was restyled in 2011. It should be noted that this is an all-wheel drive five-seat crossover. At the same time, the basis for creating the car was the platform of the legendary car - Volkswagen Golf.

In the process of the latest restyling work, manufacturers not only “tweaked” the appearance of this handsome car, but also worked hard on the safety of the car, and in particular on its technical content.

Exterior of the new Volkswagen Tiguan

The updated version is very similar to its predecessor. However, you can see the reasonable practicality of the updated car (this is especially clear in the Track&Field version). And one more step Volkswagen company became an external combination of styles of all produced cars. Those. The Tiguan shares features with several other models. But, in general, it looks like its older brother - the Touareg.

The car exudes style, design and, of course, speed and energy. Volkswagen specialists highlighted fog lights and two-section headlights with LED running lights. The car also has updated side sills, chrome roof rails and alloy wheels. The whole look of the car with its spaced arches speaks of freedom of movement. When choosing this model, you should remember that different versions will give Volkswagen Tiguan individuality. (Track&Field is off-road, and Sport&Style is more sporty).

Interior decoration, interior and technical filling

The new version of the crossover received a multifunctional steering wheel, and the location of the buttons on the front console has changed slightly. The engine start button has also changed its location and is located to the left of the gearshift knob.

All instruments and control buttons are in the driver’s line of sight. Excellent visibility from the driver's seat is complemented by minimal blind spots located behind the car's A-pillars.

When you sit inside the Volkswagen Tiguan, you immediately feel the quality (like all “Germans”). Perfectly fitted panels, pleasant-to-touch plastic and thoughtfulness make you simply fall in love with this car. Pleasant lighting and perfectly readable instruments will give comfort to any driver. However, there are also minor complaints: the driver’s seat has a slightly recessed front part, which is not very comfortable for tall people. However, electrically controlled seats can help solve this problem.

Pleases wide range adjustments of the steering column, so that the driver, after spending a little time, can get comfortable. For rear passengers, it was also possible to increase legroom: the seat moves forward/backward by 16 centimeters. As for the luggage compartment, from almost 500 liters you can easily make 1500 by simply folding rear seats. It is also worth noting that the loading height of the machine is optimal, and such operations do not create problems.

In terms of technical features, the Volkswagen Tiguan will delight its customers with light and rain sensors, dual-zone climate control, a car radio with 8 speakers, adaptive cruise control and a panoramic roof.

The manufacturer paid no less attention to security systems. Let's start with “smart” headlights that will not blind a driver passing in the opposite direction, and will also illuminate the road in the direction of the turn (when you turn the steering wheel, the headlights also turn).

The car is equipped with a driver fatigue monitoring system. While driving, she independently analyzes driving behavior and, if there is a slowdown in reactions, strongly recommends stopping. The lane assist system is also a pleasant surprise. This system monitors road markings and informs the driver about crossing the lane (without the turn signal on, the system will recognize “unauthorized movement” and the car will return to its original lane). It should only be noted that most of these options are not included in the standard package, and accordingly, if they need to be installed, additional funds will be required.

Engines, gearboxes and driving behavior

Here there is where to roam when choosing. The Volkswagen Tiguan is offered with a range of 1.4-liter TSI petrol engines with 122 and 150 horsepower. As for the smallest in the line, a strat/stop fuel saving system is installed on the car along with it. Next, the model range is represented by 2.0 TSI with a power of 170 and 200 hp. And complete the line diesel units volume 2.0 and power 140 “horses”. Here, of course, everyone must decide for themselves.

I would like to note that all engines pull perfectly from the very bottom. And now the dynamics and maximum speed are within the capabilities of everyone. As for gearboxes, manual gearboxes are only available on the 1.4 TSI. All other engines are equipped with a 6-speed automatic transmission.

And now about ride quality. On asphalt the car feels great: it handles easily, holds the road well and swallows potholes. Off-road, you can connect a lot of “assistants”, but the suspension travel is clearly not enough on some bumps, and you can easily “break through” it. In terms of cross-country ability, it’s better not to drive a Volkswagen Tiguan too far in the mud, but it will easily withstand a trip to the dacha on a washed-out road. As for the torque distribution system, it turns on only when the front wheels begin to slip, transferring part of the force to the rear axle.

Disadvantages and problems of car operation

Despite the famous pedantry of German designers and engineers, judging by the reviews of the owners, the car still has some minor drawbacks:

There is no backlight for the ignition key hole. A rather unpleasant little thing that can be attributed to the forgetfulness of the car’s creators.

Insufficient visibility and small side mirrors. There are no special problems with the left mirror - with small adjustments there are practically no dead zones left in it, but with the right mirror things are much worse. There is no curve on the mirror, so you will have to tinker with its settings for a long time.

Passenger doors are difficult to close, which means you have to slam the doors for the door closing system to work.

Unclear work automatic transmission. Until the 100 km/h mark is reached, the automatic transmission does not even try to engage the higher sixth gear. Switching occurs only when the speed reaches 120 km/h, which leads to increased consumption fuel.

The trunk has an original design - the right compartment is not covered with plastic, so the car body and its insides along with the wires are visible.

The small size of the driver's armrest box does not allow it to accommodate everything necessary for the driver's needs. But the size of the armrest box is compensated by the abundance of drawers located under the seats and a large glove compartment.

Mysterious operating mode of the headlight washer. The operating algorithm is quite complex and it takes a lot of time to get used to it.

Poor sound insulation of the wheel arches - when driving on a gravel or sandy road, there is a strong knock in the cabin from gravel and sand.

Problem with driver's floor mats and gas pedal when used in winter. Ice begins to form on the mat under the gas pedal, which reduces the travel of the gas pedal. This occurs due to insufficient insulation of the underbody of the car, which is why ice forms both under the mat and on top.

In principle, all identified deficiencies are not critical for the operation of the vehicle. You can get used to the operation of the engine and gearbox over time, and the problem of doors closing tightly can be solved by modifying or installing other seals.

Advantages of the car

Rich basic equipment - even as standard, the car is equipped with an ABC system, exchange rate stability system and a tire pressure monitoring system.

Availability of a full-fledged multimedia center with a large color active LCD display. Storage of area maps for the navigator and multimedia files is possible on a hard drive with a maximum capacity of 30 GB.

Modern navigation system independently remembering up to five hundred intermediate points when moving along a route for which there are no navigation maps.

Complete protection of the car's underbody and engine, which includes engine protection from gravel

Large trunk volume, which can also carry up to 650 kg of cargo. In addition to the trunk, all versions of the car are equipped with roof rails, which allow you to carry up to 100 kg of additional cargo on the roof.

Excellent quality of interior trim.

Excellent car handling. Even in the front-wheel drive version, the crossover responds perfectly to the steering wheel and is controlled in “one breath.” At the same time, in sharp turns, body roll is minimal, which indicates excellent suspension settings and thoughtful design of the car.

Low fuel consumption for cars with diesel engines.

Attractive appearance and excellent ergonomics of the car interior.

High ground clearance allows you to feel confident both in winter and in moderate off-road conditions.

Results, configurations and prices of Volkswagen Tiguan 2013

To summarize, I would like to note that the 2013 Volkswagen Tiguan model year has every chance to compete with its crossover brothers. This car is suitable for energetic and modern people who like compact cars, but are no longer satisfied with hatchbacks. The price of this car ranges from 800,000 to 1,350,000 rubles.

In general, the car turned out to be very attractive and even despite the higher price compared to its main competitors, the new Tiguan will find a large number of fans. Despite the relatively minor shortcomings, it is an excellent example of a stylish and modern urban crossover.

The Volkswagen Tiguan is a compact crossover that has been produced since 2007. The 2nd generation of Tiguan was recently released, and on the secondary market there are many offers for the sale of the 1st generation Tiguan. We'll find out now whether it's worth buying a used Volkswagen Tiguan. Tiguans appeared in Russia in mid-2008; the cars were assembled in Kaluga. If at first these cars were assembled using SKD SKD technology, then after 2010 cars were already produced in Kaluga using full cycle– CKD, they welded and painted the bodies there.

The build quality is the same as what the Germans assembled as ours. Of course, there were a couple of nuances, for example, the side doors were poorly adjusted, and the trunk door was crooked, but after a few months we learned to do everything as it should. So, the oldest cars had to be recalled for service in order to replace some bolts and put them on sealant. If this is not done, the driveshaft could become loose.

Salon

The interior is quite high quality, the materials look almost like new after many years of use, everything of course depends on the previous owner. But it happens that even the door trim can begin to creak while driving. On Tiguans produced from 2008 to 2009, the wiring had to be repaired under warranty: the wire that comes from the antifreeze temperature sensor was broken, so the fan worked constantly. There is also a harness that goes to the engine control unit; it is poorly secured, so it could burn, which would make the car immobile.

There have also been cases of headlights going out on their own on cars manufactured before 2011. This situation was corrected in 2013. The problem was in the fuse or switch box, which is located under the hood. But the body is well protected from corrosion, the only weak point is on the trunk door; rust may appear on the lower edge.

Over time, purely cosmetic flaws appear, some of which you won’t even see right away, for example, a hood soundproofing sheet can sag after just a few years, and if you wash the engine carelessly, this sheet will come off completely. At dealership centers, they changed the clip holders, or completely replaced the soundproofing lining. The appearance can be spoiled by a peeling radiator grille, door trims, and paint peeling off the side mirrors and bumpers. By the way, if chips appear, they must be painted over as soon as possible, because the remaining paint may begin to peel off.

Traditionally, door locks and the heater motor, which already begins to make a lot of noise after 3 years of using the car, are considered weak points. A new motor like this costs 130 euros, but for the first time you can simply lubricate the bearing.

The Tiguan has an RNS radio navigation system manufactured by Continental, it lasts a long time and does not fail, so if it happens that it cannot be controlled using the buttons on the steering wheel, then this means that you need to change the contacts on the steering column for 120 euros, because that because of them the signal and airbag may stop working.

Motors

The very first Russian-assembled cars were equipped with a 1.4-liter engine with a power of 150 hp. With. There are 25% of cars on the market with this engine. The engine is economical, but pulls well, the car accelerates quite quickly. But reliability is not all that good. The liquid intercooler becomes dirty over time. So, if you apply a high load, the piston group will wear out faster, the bridges between the rings may burn out, and the pistons will be destroyed, especially the 2nd and 3rd ones. Overhaul of this motor is quite expensive - 2500 euros, so it is better to look for a disassembled motor somewhere.

In 2011, there was a restyling and the 1.4 TSI engine began to be installed in Tiguans - this is a modernized version of the same engine. The power remained the same, only the pistons were strengthened, so the engine became more reliable.

But some problems with the engine still remained. For example, fuel injection pumps and injectors are sensitive to fuel; if you fill in low-quality fuel at least once, you will have to pay 260 euros for a new high-pressure fuel pump, and 150 euros for each injector. After 100,000 km. mileage, the pump, which costs 350 euros, may begin to leak. The chain in the timing drive can stretch by approximately 60,000. The chain itself costs 70 euros plus the cost of labor. Therefore, in order not to have to overhaul the motor, it is better in advance, as soon as rattling or clicking noises appear, to immediately check the condition of the chain and change it. But definitely after 100,000 km. it needs to be changed.

In general, all these problems are typical for Tiguan gasoline engines. The engine has a supercharged 1.4 TSI and a power of 122 hp. s., which appeared in 2011, the chain is also not very strong. You also need to remember that it is undesirable to leave a Tiguan with any gasoline engine on a hill without a handbrake; starting it with a pusher is also a big risk, because the chain can jump over the teeth, especially when it is approaching. In general, you need to be careful with the chain.

By the way, the 1.4 TSI dual-supercharged engine, which has a cast-iron cylinder block, an aluminum head and a phase shifter on the intake shaft, must be filled with 98-grade gasoline. Most of all cars with a 2.0 TSI engine, after a while they begin to eat oil, this is more noticeable on cars produced before restyling - 0.7 liters per 1000 km. mileage There are several reasons - the camshaft position sensor seal begins to snot. After restyling, this problem was fixed.

But the real reason for oil consumption is the oil scraper piston rings and the poor efficiency of the valve in the crankcase ventilation system. On cars produced after 2011, the design of valves, rings, seals was improved, the program in the ECU was improved, after all these innovations, oil consumption decreased by 2 times, but still remained.

But there are also diesel engines, they are installed on 20% of cars, these engines cause fewer problems for their owners - they do not eat oil, there is no chain. The only thing is that from driving around the city at low speed and when driving short distances it can happen after about 70,000 km. require intervention on the EGR valve, a new one costs 150 euros.

You also need to monitor the quality of diesel fuel; here the fuel injection pump is more expensive - 1000 euros. In general, the engine is reliable, but sometimes it happens that after 100,000 km. mileage require replacement of the injector seals, they are inexpensive - 15 euros per set, but you also need to add the cost of work. There are also cases that after 180,000 km. the damper in the intake tract begins to jam, because by this mileage the plastic gear in its drive mechanism wears out. To fix this, you will have to spend 150 euros.

If a situation occurs when a diesel car after 150,000 km. mileage does not start very well, then you need to immediately check the pressure reduction and injection valves of the fuel system. And maintenance should be done not once every 15,000, as the officials recommend, but once every 10,000 km. In general, it is better to buy a Tiguan with a diesel engine, because it is much more reliable than gasoline engines.

Gearboxes

There are different gearboxes - the preselective DQ200 with 2 dry clutches is a robotic gearbox, it is installed on cars with front-wheel drive and a 1.4 TSI engine, the power of which is 150 hp. With. In Europe, this box can also be found on Tiguans with a 1.8 TSI engine. On cars manufactured after 2011, this box began to break down less often, and after 2012 it underwent a serious modernization and there were almost no problems with it.

After 2011, both 6- and 7-speed robots DQ250 and DQ500 appeared; they were installed on all-wheel drive vehicles with 1.4 and 2.0 engines. The weak point in these boxes is considered to be the mechatronic hydraulic control unit. A new unit like this is not cheap - more than 2,000 euros, so for it to last longer - it needs to be done once every 80,000 km. change the oil in the box. ATF DSG goes here.

The most popular transmission is the 6-speed automatic, it is available on approximately 60% of cars. This box is the Aisin Warner TF-60/61SN series, jointly developed in 2003 by Japanese and German engineers. For front-wheel drive Tiguans this box is indexed 09G, and for all-wheel drive Tiguans it is 09M. There are no problems with the box, you just need to monitor the purity of the oil and its quality. Officially, the oil in the box does not need to be changed, but it is better to do this once every 80,000 km, then the hydraulic control unit will last longer. If freezes or jolts appear during switching, this is a clear sign that it is time to change the oil in the box. Also, do not forget to monitor the radiator in the gearbox on diesel cars, because sometimes leaks appear.

But the 6-speed manual transmission is considered the most reliable, no matter what engine it works with. The only thing that can happen to it is that the seals leak after about 80,000 km. The clutch lasts for about 140,000 km, a new set will cost about 400 euros. It happens that at the same mileage the clarity during switching disappears, then you need to check the switching mechanism, it is possible that it is worn out, replacing it will cost 200 euros. On all-wheel drive vehicles, you must remember to change the oil in the Haldex coupling, then the pump will last longer and the all-wheel drive will be in working order. The oil needs to be changed every 60,000 km.

Suspension and chassis

The electric power steering on cars before restyling could simply turn off while driving. Therefore, in 2009, engineers reflashed the electric power steering control unit. But despite this, there have often been cases when steering gear assemblies were changed on cars manufactured before 2011 under warranty after 30,000 km.

It is better not to drive the Tiguan off-road, despite the short overhangs, because the suspension is not particularly designed for these purposes. Approximately 100,000 km. The stabilizer bushings fail, but before that, they can simply creak for a long time. Replacing bushings with stabilizer will cost 140 euros. Approximately 70,000 km. fail:

  • wheel bearings, which together with the hub cost 130 euros;
  • support bearings on the front struts, which cost 50 euros;
  • silent blocks of front levers (30 euros each).

But shock absorbers can last longer - about 120,000 km. The front ones cost about 150, and the rear ones – 130 euros. The levers last as long as the shock absorbers; in general, rebuilding the rear suspension will cost around 700 euros, but less than 100,000 km. There should definitely be no problems with the rear multi-link.
But the front suspension with MacPherson struts still causes problems a little earlier, but up to 70,000 km. the suspension will be fine.

This generation of Tiguan uses the PQ35 platform, which is also installed on these cars:

  • Skoda Yeti
  • Volkswagen Golf;
  • Octavia (A5);
  • Audi A3.

Many parts in the suspension are taken from the Passat. But in general, a car requires attention if it is no longer new, and the costs are quite high, especially if something breaks down. In terms of reliability, the Tiguan is about the same as the Nissan Qashqai, which is 100,000 rubles cheaper. The price on the secondary market does not fall so quickly. It's better to look for a diesel car with automatic or manual transmission gears after restyling. The price will not be lower than 1,000,000 rubles for a 3-year-old car.

The feeling of driving a Tiguan

The engine capacity is modest - 1.4, but produces 150 hp. With. thanks to turbocharging. With a manual transmission, the car behaves better on the highway, but in the urban cycle you have to change gears often to avoid getting into a turbo lag. On the off-road, it’s also not particularly convenient to drive a manual, so that the car doesn’t stall, you need to rev more, because there’s not enough traction. Tiguan with a 2-liter engine and automatic transmission gears behave better, especially if you turn on sport mode on the box. In turns Volkswagen is better included than similar models of competitors. Excellent feedback on the steering wheel thanks to the electric power steering. The rolls are minimal, and there is not much sway either. There is a stabilization system that will prevent you from skidding on a slippery road.

The car has excellent handling and brakes well if necessary, but the suspension is quite stiff and keeps the body level at any speed. Every bump is felt, but these are the qualities of a sportier car. By the way, the sound insulation is good, you can’t hear any noise from the tires. At speeds over 140 the wind becomes audible. The Volkswagen Tiguan has nothing to do off-road, because the geometric cross-country ability here is so-so, but the car climbs hills well, since the engine is quite high-torque. But the suspension is short-travel and on serious off-road bumps the wheels remain in the air.

Volkswagen Tiguan is a bright representative of the class of compact crossovers with off-road ambitions. The car is built on the Volkswagen Golf platform. Tiguan got its name by combining the German words Tiger - tiger and Leguan - iguana lizard. Production of the Tiguan began in 2007 at the Volkswagen plant in Wolfsburg. Later assembly Russian crossovers was established in Kaluga. In 2011, the Tiguan underwent restyling, during which the appearance was retouched and the range of engines was expanded.

Engines

The pre-restyling VW Tiguan was equipped with 1.4 TSI (150 hp) and 2.0 TSI (170 hp) petrol engines with a mechanical supercharger and turbocharging. A 2.0 TDI turbodiesel (140 hp) was also available. After restyling, the line of gasoline units included: 1.4 TSI without a mechanical supercharger (122 hp) and 2.0 TSI boosted to 200 hp. All engines have a timing chain drive, with the exception of the diesel engine, which uses a toothed belt. The engines are mated to a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission.

1.4 TSI engines (150 hp) sometimes caused serious problems for their owners. The reason is large loads on the piston group at low speeds. As a result, there have been cases of spillage piston rings, burnout of the piston partitions and destruction of the pistons themselves (with a mileage of more than 60 - 100 thousand km). After using more durable materials in 2013 and changing the engine control program, no problems have yet arisen. Engine repair in case of such troubles will require about 100 - 150 thousand rubles.

Unstable engine operation with a mileage of more than 20 - 30 thousand km can be caused by a stretched chain. But sometimes the signs of the problem are not so obvious, and in the period of 100-200 thousand kilometers some owners encountered chain jumping. Replacing the timing drive from the officials will cost 40 - 50 thousand rubles, from third-party services - about 15 - 20 thousand rubles (including work). Sometimes the oil pump drive sprocket also wears out.

Problems with turbochargers can arise due to loosening of the pump wheel nut, oiling of the turbine cavity, or destruction of the supercharger shaft (from 40,000 rubles per turbine). The cases are rare, but you should not forget about the possible problem.

1.4 TSI engines (122 hp) without a mechanical supercharger with only a turbocharger are less “bloated”, and therefore are less loaded, so there are practically no problems with them.

The 2.0 TSI is characterized by “fogging” of the detachable connection of the air intake pipe going to the turbine (with a mileage of more than 30 - 60 thousand km). This phenomenon is not a malfunction. The reason for the appearance of oil is oil mist entering the intake tract through the crankcase ventilation system. This effect intensifies when the engine is idling for a long time.

There are also malfunctions of the high pressure fuel pump (10-15 thousand rubles). Sometimes problems arise with the intake manifold flaps jamming, or the engine mount starts knocking.

On cars with 2.0 TSI, assembled before 2015, after 60-100 thousand km, problems with the timing chain drive were observed. In addition, there are known cases of balancer shafts jamming. The meshes in the oil channels (inside the shafts) become clogged, and lubricant does not flow to the shafts. In case of a sad outcome, repairs will require from 50 to 100 thousand rubles. After 100-150 thousand km, the oil separator may fail (about 6,000 rubles), which leads to oil leakage through the seals and from under the timing cover.

The 2.0 TDI diesel with a common rail injection system is demanding on fuel quality. But when using high-quality fuel, it will easily cover more than 200-300 thousand km. The timing belt of a 2-liter turbodiesel is driven by a toothed belt, which is recommended to be changed every 90,000 km. Problems with starting a warm engine may occur after 100,000 km due to failure of the pressure reduction or discharge valves. There is also a problem with throttle valve due to wear of its plastic drive (eats the gear). A new throttle assembly will cost 8–9 thousand rubles for the original and 3–4 thousand rubles for an analogue. Replacement work costs about 2 - 3 thousand rubles. The TDI engine was subject to a recall campaign to improve the fuel supply pipe to the engine.

A number of problems common to all types of engines have also been noticed. For example, a liquid cooling system pump may sound (squeaking or whistling) already within the first ten thousand kilometers. A new pump costs about 13-15 thousand rubles. Often, when driving more than 20 - 40 thousand km in cold weather, a problem arises with the “disappearance” of antifreeze. The reason is a leaking tee of the lower pipe at the outlet of the radiator, or less often, a leaking radiator at the junction of plastic and metal.

With a mileage of more than 100,000 km, problems may arise with stable engine operation due to oxidation of contacts at the site of insulation failure of the Gateway device that separates the CAN buses.

There are also problems with the starter due to the retractor, more often in winter. Failure of the injection pump pump can cause a “tired” pump in fuel tank. Sometimes on new cars the fuel level sensor gets stuck, but later the readings are restored and the problem does not recur.

Transmission

No problems have yet been identified with the 0A6 6-speed manual transmission. With the Aisin automatic, things are a little different. Often complaints appear after a mileage of more than 20 – 40 thousand km. Owners notice jolts or jerks when changing gears. As a rule, everything can be done with little expense - reflashing the box's ECU. If shocks continue to occur during acceleration, then it may be necessary to replace the automatic transmission valve block (40 - 50 thousand rubles). However, the owners are in no hurry to visit the service, and the transmission continues to work, occasionally kicking when transitioning between 2nd and 3rd gear. The appearance of vibrations in 6th gear will indicate the need to replace the torque converter. It is worth noting that real cases of overhaul of an automatic machine occur only after 250-300 thousand km.

Contrary to the worst expectations, the 7-speed DSG robot does not bother with the notorious problems.

The cause of dull knocks when driving over uneven surfaces is often the gearbox cushion - the rubber band knocks on the metal. The sound is similar to the knocking of stabilizer bushings. Finding its source is not easy. Upon external inspection of the support, it does not cause suspicion.

For connection rear wheels The Haldex coupling of the IV generation is responsible. The first problems may arise with a mileage of more than 50 - 100 thousand km due to a creaking outboard bearing. cardan shaft or failure of the electric booster pump. It is recommended to replace the suspension bearing (8 - 10 thousand rubles) only as an assembly with the driveshaft (45 - 55 thousand rubles). A repair kit for the clutch pump will cost 10,000 rubles. The 5th generation coupling does not allow for refurbishment. You have to change the clutch motor (13,000 rubles). To extend the life of the coupling, it is recommended to update the working fluid every 30-40 thousand km.

Chassis

The first to be sold in the suspension are the support bearings (600 - 800 rubles apiece), which begin to creak when turning the wheels or rattle on uneven surfaces (with a mileage of more than 30 - 60 thousand km). After 40 - 70 thousand km, the silent blocks of the front levers may creak, more often with the onset of cold weather. Dealers replace them under warranty. Suspension arms give up at 100 - 150 thousand km.

Shock absorbers last more than 100 - 120 thousand km. Wheel bearings will last at least 60 - 80 thousand km. The front ones will cost 6–7 thousand rubles, and the rear ones 9–10 thousand rubles. Replacement work costs about 1 thousand rubles.

The front stabilizer bar bushings wear out after a mileage of more than 100 - 140 thousand km. They are replaced only assembled with a stabilizer - 5-6 thousand rubles.

The front brake pads last about 30 – 70 thousand km, the rear ones 40 – 90 thousand km.

On cars manufactured before 2012, the steering wheel becomes heavy and the red power steering warning light comes on after starting the engine and attempting to move off. More often the disease occurs in winter. In such a situation, you must turn off the ignition and start the engine again. The malfunction can be treated by flashing the electric power steering unit. If the failure occurs while driving, then the new software will not help in this case - the EUR will have to be replaced.

Other problems and malfunctions

The paintwork on the body is not very strong. Fortunately, the iron at the chip site is in no hurry to “bloom.” Sometimes paint blisters appear on the rear tailgate. On Kaluga-assembled cars, the doors are often poorly “fitted”, which is why they do not close well, and there is leakage from under the seals. An attempt to open the hood in severe frosts can lead to breakage of the plastic bracket where the hood lock control cable stops. The problem of headlights fogging is rare.

Windshields do not withstand mechanical stress well. And the slightest chip immediately spreads across the glass into a web of cracks.

Extraneous sounds in the cabin can be caused by the rear door lock, rear parcel shelf or false floor. On many Tiguans, the door seals crunch or squeak when driving over rolling bumps.

The whistling of the heater motor is a common phenomenon, intensifying in cold weather or during acceleration. The reason is dust getting on the fan bushings. Official services replace the “whistle” under warranty. If it runs out, you need to remove the fan, clean and lubricate its bushings.

Due to a failure of the ignition switch contact group, the radio may turn on or off spontaneously, and the light may not come on when the ignition is turned off. A problem with the light can cause the fuse in the unit to melt. Window washers and wipers do not respond when the control unit fails on-board network(14 thousand rubles). If not removed parking brake, or the door open alarm constantly lights up, you need to reset the terminal from the battery for a few seconds.

Conclusion

Miracle beast - Volkswagen Tiguan was not without flaws. Fortunately, all the problems are well known from other VAG cars. It is worth noting that the manufacturer was constantly working to eliminate mistakes.

The first generation Volkswagen Tiguan was one of the most popular crossovers in its class, especially the restyled version. The advantages of the car included a wide selection of transmissions, both the presence of a standard automatic transmission torque converter, a wide selection of gasoline and diesel engines, as well as one of best systems all-wheel drive. Disadvantages include modest size and small volume. luggage compartment. The second generation of the German crossover, which should go on sale on the Russian market, has retained all the advantages of its predecessor, while the new product has gotten rid of the shortcomings that the owners of previous Tiguans complained about.

Potential owners new Volkswagen Tiguan 2nd generation offers several types of transmissions to choose from:

We invite you to get to know each version a little closer.

Tiguan with manual transmission

Despite the fact that 2017 is outside the window and a huge percentage of car owners recognized all the splendor automatic transmissions, there are still drivers who prefer classic mechanics. Its advantages can be considered:

  • control depends entirely on the driver;
  • fast gear shifting compared to automatic transmission;
  • lower fuel consumption compared to automatic transmission;
  • the ability to tow a car;
  • reliability;
  • ease of maintenance.

Judging by the reviews of owners of Tiguans with manual transmission, no one had any problems with this transmission, which indicates its reliability.

Several versions and trim levels with manual transmission will be available in Russia:

Trendline

  • 1.4 125 hp – 1,459,000 rubles;
  • 1.4 150 hp 4motion – 1,659,000 rubles.

Comfortline

  • 1.4 125 hp – 1,559,000 rubles.

It is worth noting that European drivers got a wider variety of engines, which include a 2.0-liter diesel engine with a power of 150 hp; cars with this engine and gearbox can have front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive.

Volkswagen Tiguan with DSG

Manufacturers decided to completely abandon the classic automatic transmission in favor of robotic DSG.

DSG-6 will be installed on :

Trendline

  • 1.4 125 hp – 1,559,000 rubles;

Comfortline

  • 1.4 150 hp – 1,669,000 rubles;
  • 1.4 150 hp 4motion – 1,769,000 rubles;

Highline

  • 1.4 150 hp – 1,829,000 rubles;
  • 1.4 150 hp 4motion – 1,929,000 rubles;

DSG-7 will be available on :

Comfortline

  • 2.0 TDI 150 hp 4motion – 1,859,000 rubles;
  • 2.0 180 hp 4motion – 1,909,000 rubles;

Highline

  • 2.0 TDI 150 hp 4motion – 2,019,000 rubles;
  • 2.0 180 hp 4motion – 2,069,000 rubles;
  • 2.0 220 hp 4motion – 2,139,000 rubles.

Moreover, it is worth noting that this is not the “breakable” DSG7, which for many Volkswagen owners appears in nightmares, but rather on the contrary, the new product is equipped with the index DQ500. This gearbox has a “wet” clutch (while the DSG-7 with a dry clutch, especially the first versions, is considered unreliable) and is capable of “digesting” up to 600 Nm of torque in stock. The exact same transmission is installed on the sports versions of the Audi RS3, RS Q3 and TT RS.

If you are a calm driver and your plans do not include chip tuning of the Tiguan, then the version with a 1.4 liter engine and DSG-6 will be the most the best option. As practice shows, with proper operation and timely maintenance, a six-speed robot does not cause any problems to its owners up to 200,000 km.

For more active drivers with a “ragged” driving style, definitely best choice will be a version equipped with DSG-7 DQ500. Moreover, its safety margin will allow you to increase the engine power in the future, without fear of failure.

In 2018, sales of the Skoda Karoq crossover will start in Russia, which in its characteristics and dimensions is similar to the Tiguan. On our portal you can find out about... By the way, the choice is almost completely similar to its German counterpart.

As for the overall impression of the car, it has become significantly better than its predecessor. The first thing that catches your eye is the appearance of a new style, which we could see on the Passat b8. Another important change was the increase in dimensions, which made it possible to increase the space in the cabin and the volume of the luggage compartment. Let us remember that with all the advantages of the first Tiguan, excellent handling and decent performance on light off-road conditions, the disadvantage was its modest dimensions in which it was inferior to its competitor. With the advent of the second generation, without too much modesty, we can say that a leader has emerged in the compact crossover segment. All of the above pluses include an interior with standard ergonomics, however, VAG cars have never had any problems with this. All this led to a significant increase in price; now a Tiguan in a “good” configuration with a 2.0 liter engine and all-wheel drive costs the same as its older brother, the Touareg, cost 3 years ago. If the price tag is compared with classmates, then the price is not so high.
