How to replace spark plugs on a Nissan Note 1.6. Replacing spark plugs on a Nissan Note (1.4)

Replacement spark plugs nissan note is one of the most important and necessary procedures to ensure smooth operation of the car engine. The internal combustion engine has a complex structure in which even the smallest part plays a significant role. For example, a car transmission is responsible for the interaction of the engine with the drive wheels, brake pads provide an emergency reduction in speed, the vehicle's optics serve to improve the driver's visibility at night or in the dark. What are spark plugs for? Despite the important purpose of spark plugs, their role is often unknown even to experienced drivers. So why are they important and how do they affect the performance of the entire car?

Spark plugs are a device that is used to ignite the fuel-air mixture in a car engine to ensure its continuous operation. There are 4 types of spark plugs: spark, glow, arc and catalytic. IN gasoline engines spark plugs are used. The principle of their operation is based on the formation of a powerful electric charge that arises between the electrodes and ignites the combustible mixture at a certain moment in engine operation.

If at least one spark plug fails, unused residues of the working mixture will be deposited in the car's catalyst and will lead to a complete stop of the engine or to its ignition. Providing timely assistance to your car will allow you not only to save significantly on repairs, but also to get to know your “iron friend” better.

Nissan note spark plugs are replaced when the normal operation of the engine is disrupted. To determine the need to replace the device, it is recommended to perform a visual inspection. Since spark plugs are constantly subjected to thermal and mechanical stress, they appearance can determine the degree of their performance.

In order to produce independent replacement spark plugs on a car Nissan Note, it is recommended to use the following guide.

1. Remove the engine cover, if installed.

2. Disconnect the battery

3. Loosen the clamps on the rubber hose that goes to the air duct, then remove it

4. Disconnect the electrical connector going to the air manifold

5. Disconnect the crankcase ventilation hose and remove the rubber inlet pipe

6. Disconnect the air intake clips located above the radiator

7. Remove the air intake

8. Unscrew the air manifold mounting bolts. Replacing Nissan Note spark plugs requires extreme care and caution, because many parts have a plastic body and can break if pressed incorrectly

9. Remove the device. Do not allow dust, bolts or other objects to enter the intake manifold openings.

10. After unscrewing the bolts, completely remove the air manifold

11. Once the manifold is completely removed, the spark plug coils will be exposed. To remove the device, disconnect from the coils high voltage wires

12. After unscrewing the bolt, carefully remove the spark plug coil

13. Using spark plug wrench, unscrew the spark plug

15. For Nissan car Note use IRIDIUM POWER candles

Table - Determination of spark plug performance
Candle condition Symptoms of spark plug damage Ways to eliminate damage
Normal There is no erosive damage. Heat cone color – light brown or light gray This condition indicates correct work systems. There is no need to replace the spark plug, so you can put it back.
Charred electrode edges The spark plug insulator has a normal color, but the electrodes are charred. The electronic gap is increased to the limit. Spark plugs in this condition will make it difficult to start the engine in winter and will lead to increased fuel consumption. Nissan note spark plugs need to be replaced. The new device should have the same thermal characteristics.
Fuel mixture contamination Candles in this case have a specific smell and damp deposits of dark brown or black color. A car with such spark plugs is unstable, consumes a large amount of fuel and misfires. You can temporarily save the situation by cleaning the spark plug electrodes in gasoline. However, the problem of soot formation on the electrodes can only be solved if the cause of the malfunction is determined.
Glow ignition The insulator of the device is bright white, and the electrodes are fused. At the same time, the car experiences premature ignition and frequent overheating of the engine. This candle does not suit the car's thermal characteristics. A replacement device with the correct parameters is required.
Lead deposits The insulator and electrodes are covered with porous deposits that have a strong odor of hydrogen sulfide. This problem occurs with prolonged use of highly leaded gasoline. The spark plug can be cleaned and reinstalled if there is no damage to the electrodes. It is recommended to change gas stations.
Glazing Spark plug housing, glossy yellow The device cannot be restored, so further replacement is recommended. However, it should be emphasized that the formation of this damage is created when avid racers sharply press the gas pedal. To protect your car from this problem, it is recommended to use a smoother driving style.
Detonation The spark plug has obvious damage, expressed by cracks and destruction of the insulator. Such a spark plug can cause destruction of the piston. When installing a new spark plug, carefully adjust the spark plug gap. Reuse of a candle with these damages is prohibited.

Inspection and replacement of Nissan Note spark plugs is carried out sequentially. This allows you not only to avoid getting tangled in the coils, but also provides correct installation devices.

When the condition of the spark plugs has been diagnosed and the necessary work has been carried out, install the engine parts in the reverse order, remembering to be careful and careful. Be careful and everything will work out!

In my Nissan note the (engine) light on the dashboard came on - check engine. Then I noticed that the car began to work a little intermittently and was running rough. I haven’t had time to go for engine diagnostics yet... I’m sinning on the spark plugs. I didn’t have time to check them either - I’ll do it in the evening).

But since I had never changed spark plugs in foreign cars, I decided to first ask an intern how and in what sequence to change them, so as not to break anything, as often happens due to ignorance;).

Before this I dealt with domestic cars- everything is simple there - everything is in sight, unscrew it - look, if something is wrong - change it and that’s it.

They write on the Internet about replacing spark plugs in Nissan note, but somehow it’s not the same. And by chance, following a link from some site, I came across the forum of the site http://nissan-note.info/forum/viewtopic.php?p=250730#250730 from where the printed instructions below were actually taken.

My option for replacing spark plugs with NOTE 1.4. I apologize if I state common truths and the obvious, but maybe it will be useful to someone. The option of removing TWO plastic casings, as described earlier, did not work out for me, since I could not unscrew the front bolts (in the picture it is marked “do not unscrew”), it was tightened too tightly - the square nut was turning. As it turns out, you can do without this.
So let's start with the tool:

Tools needed to replace spark plugs on NOTE 1.4. The hinged wrench did not fit in my case due to the outer diameter being too large, approx. 24.5 mm. Because The seat of the spark plugs is very deep and narrow, I was forced to buy a 16mm socket/wrench. (special for spark plugs with internal rubber washer), outer diameter approx. 22.5 mm. Issue price 75 rub.

Remove two clips (1), electrical connectors 3 pcs. (2), two rubber hoses (3), unscrew the six bolts (4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9), REMOVE another rubber hose (10) from the clamp (I don’t understand why it is needed). Gently, but with force, lift the entire plastic casing upward along with the air filter. That's it - access to the ignition coils is open.

Unscrew four more bolts (11) and remove the coils (12).

We change the spark plugs and reassemble in the reverse order as always. When installing the plastic casing, I recommend paying attention to the rubber coupling (13), it may become jammed, so it’s easier to pull it out of the valve cover and first attach it to the corresponding place on the plastic casing.
Well that's it! Good luck everyone

P.S.: Just like that, you can replace the spark plugs yourself))).
Later I’ll tell you how things were with me... maybe it’s not all about the candles... an autopsy will show))))

To replace spark plugs you need the following set of tools:

Spark plug wrench 16 mm with rubber inside (or with magnet)

10 mm head.

Open-end wrench 10 mm.

Phillips screwdriver

Pliers

Job.

First of all, unscrew the 10 mm bolts that secure the cover to the engine with the NISSAN logo. There are 7 of them.

Using pliers, remove the hoses suitable for it (3 pieces) and the gas outlet hose, which is attached to a plastic clamp at the back of the engine.

Using a screwdriver, unscrew the sensor located on top, and also remove the wires from the 3 sensors located on the cover.

Unfasten the casing air filter(2 spring latches)

Remove the cover with the NISSAN logo.

Another plastic cover appears in front of us ( smaller in size), using a 10mm wrench, unscrew the 4 mounting bolts.

We take off the CANDLES in front of us.

The spark plugs on our miracle engine are powered using special pads (ignition coils for each spark plug), which in turn are attached to the engine with 10 mm bolts.

Unscrew the bolts. When I got to the ignition coils, I had to disconnect the wire only from the 2nd cylinder spark plug, because... it was short. I got to the rest of the spark plugs by unscrewing only the bolts.

I reassembled everything in reverse order without any problems.

You just need to be careful:

When connecting hoses at the rear of the engine. Don’t forget to put the gas outlet hose tightly in place;

When putting the top cover in place. It fits hermetically into place and you need to carefully tighten the bolts so that there is no distortion;

When installing the air filter housing. First you need to insert the guide protrusion into the groove on the cover from the bottom, and then carefully snap it with spring latches;

One of the plastic caps is covered in oil. At first I was afraid that it was oil from the engine crankcase and wanted to wipe it off. But in fact, it was specially placed there so that dust that came from unknown where would settle on the lid and not interfere normal operation engine. So there is no need to remove the oil.
