How to remove the fuel filter on a Cherry Tigo. How to change the fuel filter on Chery Tiggo. Don't go for cheap

I decided to replace fuel filter on my Cherie Tigo, but figured that there was no store nearby with spare parts for the Chinese. There are still stores designed for foreign cars, but everything that concerns the Chinese, you even have to order consumables and wait a week.

I went to a regular auto parts store, that is, designed for domestic auto industry. And the filter is no worse, and even less structurally different.

You can easily replace the fuel filter on a Cherie Tigo at garage conditions. Replacement takes no more than 20 minutes. Issue price: ~200 rubles.

Replacing the fuel filter

  1. Place the car on a lift box (or drive into the inspection hole);
  2. Find a filter. On a Cherie Tigo car it is located in the area of the gas tank (in front of it on the right side) and is secured with a plastic clamp;
  3. Disconnect the tubes from it and use screwdrivers to remove the filter;
  4. Install a new one, taking into account the direction of the arrows on the filter in relation to the tubes;
  5. Turn the car key until fuel is pumped. This is necessary for the filter to start functioning. Repeat the procedure 3-5 times and then start the engine.

Symptoms of a worn filter

  1. Jerking when driving high speed(more than 90 km/h);
  2. Engine burning;
  3. Insufficient power and “aggression” of the car when you press the accelerator pedal.

By car Chery Kimo(Cherie Kimo) The manufacturer recommends changing the fuel filter every 20,000 km or after 2 years of operation. But, given the quality of our gasoline, advice change the fuel filter every 10,000 km(at the same time as ) will not be erroneous. Since a dirty fuel filter will not bring anything good to the car. Some problems are loss of engine power, increased fuel consumption, difficulty starting the engine... And at the same time, the cost of the filter itself is not high, the process of replacing it is not complicated (you can do everything yourself without any problems). Does it make sense to save money and delay the time to replace the filter? I think not. But, it's up to you to decide. You may disagree with me and say that ten thousand is not serious. Why so early? I won't convince you otherwise. But I definitely wouldn’t advise you to exceed the recommended twenty thousand.

Spare parts. The catalog number of the fuel filter for the Chery Kimo car is B14-1117110.

Tool. First of all, we think about the location of the work. Because to replace the fuel filter on Chery Kimo You will need an inspection hole, overpass or lift. It is not possible to replace the filter from the ground. After reading the article to the end, you will understand why it won’t work. Next, a few words about the tool that will be needed to complete the task. And so, to quickly and successfully replace a gasoline (fuel) filter you will need: a container for collecting gasoline, a short Phillips screwdriver (a flexible screwdriver is also an option), simple or sliding pliers. I also advise you to purchase or make your own pliers for compressing the fuel pipe clamps (an example of homemade pliers in photo 1). In theory, these clamps can be squeezed with your fingers and the tube can be pulled off the filter. But, in practice, these clamps often provide resistance. Therefore, the presence of two mechanical/metal “fingers” is welcome.

The procedure for replacing the fuel (gasoline) filter on a Chery Kimo car:
We begin work on replacing the fuel filter by relieving pressure in the fuel supply system. We drive the car into the inspection hole and turn off the engine. In the fuse box located in engine compartment near the battery, we find the fuel pump relay (photo 2). We take it out and start the engine. After a few seconds the engine will stall. And this is good, since the pressure in the system will be relieved, which, when working with fuel pipes, will allow you to avoid a gasoline shower.

Next, you should find the filter itself. Thereby answering the question - " Where is the fuel filter on Chery Kimo"On Cheri Kimo's car it is located near the gas tank, on the right side, and is attached to the gas tank using a clamp. This is where the most interesting part of the work begins. If on your car the Chinese workers attached the clamp to the gas tank in a human-like manner, then you will not have any problems Since access to the screw that compresses the clamp will be free, you will be able to unscrew the screw quickly and comfortably. Otherwise, the clamp is fixed as in photos 3 and 4, and you will have to tinker. with a warm word... If a short Phillips screwdriver, a cross head, or a flexible screwdriver did not help, then you will have to use sliding pliers. The main thing is to grab onto the screws (photo 5). You won't be able to completely unscrew the screw, but you can loosen it.

After the filter in the clamp begins to move (photo 6), you can begin working on the fuel pipes. We squeeze the clamps (photo 7) and tighten the tube. Not completely. We do the same with the second tube. We substitute the container and disconnect the tubes from the fuel filter completely (photo 8).

Then all that remains is to pull out the old filter (photos 9 and 10). And install a new filter in its place, the arrow on the filter should be directed towards the front axle of the car (photo 11).

Tighten the self-tapping screw (pliers help). We connect the fuel pipes (photo 12). When the tube is seated, a click should be heard, which will indicate that the clamps are in place. After this he tries to pull the tube off the filter. If the tube remains in place, then everything is ok, the tubes are correctly attached to the filter.

All that remains is to pump the filter and check the tightness of the connections. We turn the key in the ignition switch (until the starter turns on), give time to the pump to pump fuel into the filter and create the necessary pressure in the system. After this, turn off the ignition and start the car engine. We perform a check inspection of the fuel filter and the pipes that are connected to it.
Is everything dry? Are there any traces of fuel leakage? If yes, then we can congratulate you - Replacing the fuel filter on Cherie's beloved Kimo was successful!

In accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations, the fuel filter is replaced after 2 years of operation or 20 thousand kilometers. However, taking into account the experience of operating cars in Russian conditions, we recommend replacing it every 15 thousand km. Jerking while driving the car most likely indicates a clogged filter.

The fuel filter is located near the front right side of the fuel tank and is mounted on the base of the body, so it is more convenient to work with the car mounted on a lift or inspection ditch.
1. Reduce the pressure in the fuel supply system (see).

2. Squeeze the clips and disconnect the tip of the fuel outlet pipe from the filter.

3. Similarly, disconnect the tip of the fuel supply line on the other side of the filter.

4. Disconnect the wire connector from the fuel filter.

5. Press out the spring fastener...

6….and remove the fuel filter.

7. Install the new fuel filter in the reverse order of removal so that the arrow on the cylindrical part of the filter housing coincides with the direction of fuel flow.
Connect the tips of the fuel hoses to the filter by moving along the fittings until the clamps snap into place.
Warning.
After installing the fuel filter, be sure to check the connections of the fuel filter to the fuel lines for gasoline leaks while the engine is running. If necessary, repeat the operation of connecting the fuel lines until they are securely fixed. If leaks from the connections cannot be eliminated, replace the fuel line tip O-rings or fuel line assemblies.

The purity of the fuel that Ukrainian motorists have to refuel with often leaves much to be desired. And it's not always the producers' fault. The transport tank or bunker in which gasoline is stored at a gas station may be contaminated. Dirt in fuel tank It can also get in while pouring fuel into it.

For injection-type engines - and this is exactly what is installed in - it is very important that the fuel used is clean. In this case, the injectors will not become clogged with dirt and gradually deteriorate and will ensure uniform injection of the combustible mixture, and the engine will function in optimal mode and delight the car owner with uninterrupted operation for a long time.

To purify gasoline to the greatest possible extent, and apply. It carries out fine cleaning, in contrast to the mesh installed in the fuel module at the inlet of the fuel pump, which produces coarse filtration.

What indicates that it is time to change the filter?

The automaker recommends changing the Chery Tiggo fuel filter after every 20,000 kilometers. However, in our country we often have to refuel with fuel of questionable quality, so this figure needs to be reduced to 15, or even 12 thousand.

Remember to do this in a timely manner. Otherwise, you will be forced to pump fuel through clogged filter, which means he will have to work with an increased load, which, of course, will not benefit him. If you hear a loud noise coming from the gas tank, this may be the case. Although contamination may occur in other places in the system. First of all, you should check the coarse mesh, which is located in the fuel module along with the pump.

If the fuel filter is clogged too early, it may indicate the presence of debris in the fuel filter. In this case, it must be washed.

Some changes in the car's behavior may indicate that the fuel filter is likely clogged. Loss of power, interruptions in engine operation, and jerking of the car at first will be noticeable mainly when accelerating or driving at high speed. Gradually, such symptoms will begin to occur more and more often at slower movements.

How does the fuel filter in Chery Tiggo work and where is it located?

The fuel filter used in Chery Tiggo is a direct-flow type device. Inside a non-separable cylindrical body made of stainless steel is placed, which carries out fine cleaning of the fuel. Special paper is used as a filter material. It is the quality of the paper that primarily distinguishes a good fuel filter from cheap counterfeits.

On opposite bases of the cylinder there are inlet and outlet fittings through which fuel is supplied and exited. In addition, the housing has a terminal for connecting the ground wire (ground).

Since the filter has a non-separable design, it cannot be repaired. Therefore, the worn-out element must simply be replaced with a new one.

In brand cars Chery Tiggo The fuel filter is mounted on the base of the body in the area of the gas tank to the right of it. Due to this location, the filter can only be reached from below. To make it convenient to work with it, you can use a lift or inspection pit. If this is not possible, then you can simply lie down on the mat.

Self-replacement of the fuel filter in Chery Tiggo

Once you have successfully reached the fuel filter, the procedure for replacing it is unlikely to cause you any difficulties. If at least five hours have passed since the engine was stopped, the pressure in the fuel system will drop to almost zero by itself. Otherwise, you must first perform a forced release of pressure, and only after that can it be disconnected from the fittings.

To relieve pressure in the engine power system, you need to start the engine with the fuel pump and wait until the remaining gasoline in the fuel rail is used up.

There are two ways to turn off the fuel pump.

Method 1 is to remove the relay responsible for starting the pump. It is located in the fuse box under the hood on the right side of the car.

Method 2 is to disconnect the connector with the power wires in the fuel module. To get to it, you need to flip it back seat and raise the floor covering. Under it you will find a hatch cover, under which there is fuel module.

By removing the chip with wires, you will thereby de-energize the fuel pump.

Before disconnecting the chip, do not forget to remove the negative cable from the battery.

Now put the gear lever in neutral and engage parking brake. Start the engine. After some time, when the remaining fuel in the system is used up, it will stall.

Turn on the starter for a couple of seconds to equalize the pressure in the pipeline, return the relay to its place (or connect the chip) and you can begin dismantling the fuel filter.

1. Squeeze the latch and remove the fuel line tip from the outlet fitting. The latch may provide serious resistance, then use a suitable tool, such as a screwdriver, to press. If the tip cannot be moved by hand, use a wrench as leverage.

2. Do the same on the opposite side of the filter.

3. Disconnect the ground wire from the chassis.

If you want to replace the ground wire, unscrew the 10-head bolt that secures it to the body.

4. Remove the device from the holder. To do this, you need to release the spring clamp.

5. Mount the new element in reverse order. To avoid mistakes during installation, follow the arrow on the device body, which indicates the direction of fuel flow.

Sometimes the arrow may point in the wrong direction. To find out exactly where the inlet is and where the outlet is, insert a long thin object, such as a nail or a piece of wire, into the fitting hole. At the exit hole it will encounter a hard obstacle. There will be no such obstacle at the entrance.

Push the hose ends on until you hear a click.

Check the tightness of the connection with the engine running. If you notice a gasoline leak, try reconnecting the fuel lines. If this does not help, change the seals in the tips or the entire hose assembly. Keep in mind that the hoses used in the engine power system are manufactured using special technology from materials that are resistant to grease and gasoline. Avoid using random tubes that just happen to come to hand. This can cause problems with the functioning of the fuel system, and sometimes even lead to a fire.

Don't go for cheap

A cheap fuel filter often has a plastic housing that is not designed to withstand the significant pressure present in the fuel system. It may also not withstand sudden temperature changes. As a result, such a device may simply crack, which will at least lead to a gasoline leak.

But manufacturers of cheap fakes save not only on the body. They use thin, fragile paper in the filter element, which does not clean gasoline well, allowing a lot of dirt into the fuel rail. It happens that it simply breaks, and then almost unrefined fuel is supplied to the injectors. Injectors clogged with dirt will immediately affect the stability of the power unit.

If you want to avoid such problems, purchase devices made by a reliable manufacturer.

If you want to extend the working life of the filter

First of all, minimize the chance of dirt getting into the fuel system. Try to refuel at trusted places where gasoline is of good quality.

Avoid using old cans to store gasoline. There may be rust on their inner walls, which will eventually end up in your gas tank.

Don't be lazy to take it out of the gas tank from time to time
