Mak as truck in the Russian army. A hymn to chrome and technology: the new Mack Anthem is revealed. Truck tractors in Russia - advantages of Mack Truck

To celebrate the debut of the new generation Mack Anthem, a press conference was held, at which the company's vice president of global marketing, John Walsh, said that "Mack is the only American truck manufacturer that can claim that all trucks sold in the United States trucks, made right here in the USA.”

The company's designers tried to embody the image of a “true American tractor” in the new product, while maintaining Mack’s signature features so that it could be recognized at first sight. The head of the Volvo Group, which includes Mack, Martin Lundstedt commented on the new Anthem, saying that in time it will become a classic.

The manufacturer stated that by changing the generation, Anthem has become 1.5-3.0% more economical and more comfortable. The most spacious version of the cabin received 35% more space due to the new layout, as well as a 178 cm long sleeping bag, more shelving, cabinets and work surfaces. The cabin also has new seats and a large number of sockets, and the inscriptions and icons on the buttons are made with a laser, so they will no longer be erased.

Included power range The new Anthem includes MP series engines. For example, at the top of the line is the 13-liter Mack MP8, whose output is 505 hp. and 2,521 Nm of torque. Behind it comes the 11-liter MP7, developing 425 hp. and 2,115 Nm. All engines come standard with a 12-speed mDRIVE AMT transmission, with 13- and 14-speed options available as options.

1890 - John Jr. Jack gets a job at the Fallesen & Berry automobile manufacturing firm in Brooklyn.

1893 - Jack Meck and his brother Augustus buy the firm of Fallesen & Berry.

1894 - William Meck, who operated the Scranton Carriage Works, joins his brothers in business. The production of railway cars is closed, and the brothers focus their attention on the production of trucks. The brothers experiment with steam and electric cars.

The early years of the 20th century were full of innovations, the revolutionary spirit of which is still felt today. In 1902, Willys Quarry introduces air conditioning; in 1903, Orville and Wilbur Wright first took to the air; in 1908, Henry Ford demonstrates his Model T. The Meck brothers are working on creating a powerful heavy truck and engines for it. In 1900, the brothers opened bus production. Meck was engaged in the production of buses until 1960.

The brothers go public and create new company Mack Brothers Motor Car Company. Meck was one of the first manufacturers to place the driver's compartment above the engine, which increased the view of the person behind the wheel, especially on busy city streets. The Manhattan cab-over-engine model was first introduced in 1905. Meck patented some elements, such as those that protected the engine from damage when driven by inexperienced drivers; a mechanism that allowed the driver to immediately switch from high speed to low speed, without passing through medium.

Mek presents new model- semi-light truck. Meck created the first fire truck for Morrisville. In August 1911, the brothers sold the company and the new owners continued operations as the International Motor Company, a holding company. Mack Brothers Motor Company And Saurer Motor Company. In 1916 it was introduced famous model AC with chain drive rear axle, it has proven itself to be a reliable and durable machine. This model was produced until 1939. Meck produced military armored vehicles during the First World War. There were deliveries of cars to the UK. At the end of the war the company name was changed to Mack-International Motor Truck Corporation. 1918 - Meck became the first manufacturer to install air conditioners and oil filters on trucks. In 1920, a vacuum brake booster appeared on Mack trucks. In 1922, the bulldog became the company logo. Growing sales and increased demand spurred engineering thought. During this period, two types of trucks were produced: non-reverse and reversible.

Mack offers the E Series vehicles in two versions: bonnet truck and cab-over truck. Their production lasted until 1951. For the first time, Meck vehicles featured brakes on all four wheels, which increased braking capability and provided greater safety on heavy trucks. Mek begins releasing its own diesel engines.

In 1938, production of ¾ ton trucks began. Until 1972, trucks with a volume of 15 to 100 tons were produced for mines. In the 1950s, G, H and B models were produced. G series trucks had an aluminum cab, which lightened the weight of the vehicle and made it possible to increase the load capacity.

By 1940 in "Mack" The new famous L-series truck with a regular cab layout is released, gaining popularity on the east and west coasts of the country. During World War II, Mack contributed to the Allied victory by producing over 35,000 trucks for the army, of which 16,000 were equipped with its own diesel engines.

After the war "Mack" returned to the production of civilian equipment, and in 1947 the LT model appeared. This machine was created in Ellinton and was produced until 1956. Many believed that the car represented the pinnacle of diesel engineering.

Many cars appeared in the 50s "Mack Trucks" with new transmissions and rear end design.

Series B became one of the most successful in Musk's production history. These cars are still widely used today. The word “international” disappeared from the name over time and only Mack Motor Truck Company until today.

The first diesel fire truck of the B85F series was sold in 1960.

1962 - new series of trucks with a cab over the engine with and without a sleeper are released. 1967 - Maxidyne engine introduced, which flattened the power curve in horsepower ah, resulting in increased fuel economy.

In 1977 Mack Trucks buys Brockway Motor company. Production Brockway stops.

In 1982, Renault increases its shares by 20%. Signal is cutting its shareholding by 10%. Mack introduces the ultra-liner model with a fiberglass cab. The new design is the result of reduced cabin weight and increased corrosion resistance.

1983 When Mack Trucks, Inc. became a public corporation again in 1983 with an offering of 15.7 million non-preferred shares, further tying them to Renault. The two firms were in talks as early as 1977 to distribute medium-duty diesel trucks in North America and parts of Central America and the Caribbean. Renault and Mack entered into a partnership to introduce a series of medium-duty trucks in 1979. Renault increases its stake to 40%. Signal is cutting its stake by 10.3%.

1987 Commercial Vehicle Division Renault- Renault V.I. - undergoes a financial reorganization, it buys out Mack's share from its parent company.

1988 - the new E7 series with a 12-liter engine is released. Today this series of cars numbers sixteen different types engines with horsepower ranging from 250 to 454. The E7 boasts the best power/weight ratio for maximum performance. That same year, Mack introduced a new CH series of highway trucks.

Truck tractors in Russia - advantages of Mack Truck

The automaker, founded more than a hundred years ago by the Mack brothers, has a tradition of impeccable quality. An automotive legend from Mack Truck is the world-famous AC truck, nicknamed the "Bulldog" for its distinctive design and unique performance characteristics: a massive hood tapering forward, wide-spaced wheels, a squat stance, increased power and the ability to work in extremely difficult conditions.

MACK TRUCK- a plant known all over the world. This is a manufacturer of not only tractors, but also one of the leading manufacturers of quality powerful engines , which are supplied not only to cars of our own production, but also to other American and European tractors. Therefore, purchasing a new truck tractor from us in St. Petersburg or Perm, manufactured to order, according to Russian road and weather conditions, taking into account the low quality of fuel, will be a clear advantage over cars purchased based on availability and cost from intermediaries.

Why Mack truck tractors are purchased from Continent LLC

Our truck tractors in Russia, unlike all other tractors imported from America, were not simply purchased at auction or through intermediaries, namely ORDERED directly at the MACK plant,And collected specifically for Russia: axles, gearbox, suspension were selected taking into account Russian operating and repair conditions. Namely, those that have long been known to everyone: EATON FULLER gearbox, MERITOR axles, VOLVO suspension 670, etc.

By purchasing new tractor unit with us, you won’t need to think about how to get rid of exhaust gas purification and recirculation systems (or another option is permanent replacement or repair), which cause the bulk of problems during vehicle operation.

Visit the tractor showroom of the Continent LLC company and select a new truck tractor, depending on your tasks.

Mack equipment by cab type

All cabins are equipped with independent WEBASTO interior heaters and “TV” preparation has been carried out - the antenna plug and socket for connecting a TV have been removed). Mosquito nets and full NORCOLD 12/24 V refrigerators with freezer are installed (except DAY CAB and FLAT TOP). As practice has shown, the use of our truck tractors in Russia in winter (according to the words of drivers, and not from advertising brochures) is as comfortable as possible, since the cabins of our vehicles are warm and have good noise and vibration insulation.

IMPORTANT: In the cabin characteristics inches indicate length sleeping place, which starts behind the driver's seat! 1 inch = 2.54 cm.

The Mack Brothers Company automobile company was founded in February 1901 by the brothers John, Augustus and William Mack, descendants of a French Huguenot family who fled to Germany and emigrated to Germany in the mid-19th century. America. The MACK brothers in the New York suburb of Brooklyn began assembling horse-drawn carriages. They were subsequently joined by brothers Joseph and Charles. In 1901, the five Mack brothers founded the Mack Brothers Company and began assembling small buses.

The business turned out to be very profitable, and in 1905 the company was moved to Allentown, Pennsylvania, to expand production. There, August Mack developed and began producing simple hooded trucks with a capacity of 1.5-2 tons of cargo, which were soon followed by a 5-ton model that had a gearbox with constant mesh gears. In 1905, August Mack invented the original spring starter for starting engines. By 1910, the range of trucks included the light 32-horsepower Junior series with a payload of 1-2 tons and the heavy Senior series with a payload of up to 7.5 tons.

Externally, the cars differed in respectively left-hand and right-hand steering. The second group also included 4-ton trucks with a driver’s seat above the engine and a characteristic “dumb” front end, for which they received the nickname “Bulldog”. This was emphasized by the new trademark, which has survived to this day, in the form of a bulldog figurine. In 1911, when the company's workforce numbered 700, the chassis and engine plant in Plainfield was purchased.

At the same time, the Mack brothers decided to create a small holding company, International Motor Company, abbreviated as IMC, which included the American branch of the Swiss company Saurer and the small company Hewitt, known for its trucks and talented designers. IMC was doing well, and all three companies independently continued their own production. However, the brothers remained dissatisfied and gradually left their native company. The first to leave it in 1912 was Jack Mack, who founded the Mackar company (Massag) next door. Then Augustus and Joseph left.

In 1916, William (Willie) Mack founded his own light truck company, Mackbilt, and was the last to leave the company in the twenties. Back in 1913, discord and strong competition between the brothers led “Mac” to serious financial problems. On the basis of IMC, a new corporation, International Motor Truck Corporation, was created, but due to patent misunderstandings with the International Harvester company, in March 1922 it was renamed Mack Trucks Incorporated, where by that time it had already None of the Mac brothers worked.

By the mid-twenties, the company had a closed production cycle, including its own foundry, tool and woodworking shops, employing over a thousand people. But the most important event was the invitation to the Mac of leading engineers from the Hewitt company.
In 1913. Edward Hewitt created the Mak AB truck with a classic layout with a payload of 1.5-2.5 tons, produced until 1936. It had a monoblock 4-cylinder 30-horsepower engine, a cardan or chain drive of the rear wheels with a worm final drive, a stamped frame, brakes rear wheels with solid tires.

Subsequently, the AB trucks received a two-speed bevel final drive, an electric starter and lighting, pneumatic tires and a closed cab. The last sixty-five strong AB models with a lifting capacity of 3-5 tons were equipped with a cardan drive and a new all-metal cabin. The most significant contribution to the development of the Mac company was made by another Hewitt engineer, Alfred Masury. In 1916, he developed the most famous truck of the Mack company and the whole world - the AC model with the unofficial name "Bulldog", which was justified by a massive hood tapering forward, squat stance and widely spaced wheels, huge headlights and the ability to work in the most difficult conditions .

The “AS” model was offered in several versions with a carrying capacity of 3.5-7.5 tons with a wheelbase of 3962, 4267 or 4572 millimeters. Inline 4-cylinder engine with 75 hp. was located directly above the front axle, and the radiator was in front of the driver’s seat and was cooled by the air flow from the impeller mounted in the flywheel. The four-speed gearbox was located in the middle part of the chassis in a block with the main gear and differential, from which torque was supplied to the rear wheels by two side chains. 18 patents were issued for the design solutions used in AS.

Among them: a stamped frame made of chrome-nickel steel, pistons made of gray cast iron and cylinders cast in pairs from alloy steel, subjected to subsequent heat treatment; metal working parts reinforced by surface compaction; a number of details from aluminum alloys. The crankshaft and drive gears were cemented, and the beam front axle obtained by free forging from a steel billet. Other features of the “AS” include long springs with sheets of thin thickness, extensive use of roller bearings, brakes on the rear wheels and on the transmission shaft, and wide alloy tires.

Since 1923, “AS” trucks have had 6-cylinder engines with a capacity of 97-120 horsepower (models “AN”, “AJ”, “AL”). Since 1932, “AS6” construction dump trucks with a six-cylinder, one hundred and fifty-horsepower engine were produced. The “AC” series is known in numerous versions, famous for its strength and durability. Without any special technical changes, it was produced until 1938, producing 40,299 cars. Alfred Maisury's achievements also include the creation of the “Poppy” emblem with an ornament. The first version of the “AS” truck in 1927 was a lightweight five-ton “AK” with a cardan drive, a seventy-horsepower engine with an aluminum block head and a double final drive.

Since 1929, two and three axle versions of the “AR” were produced with a carrying capacity of 7.5-10 tons with a new six-cylinder engine of 150 horses. For two-axle versions, a cardan drive was used, three-axle 6x2 trucks had a chain drive of the middle axle, but in 1931 they received an inter-axle differential and were offered with a 6x4 wheel arrangement. The enormous success of the “AS” series lulled the management of the “Mak” company, which only in 1928 began production of more advanced and diverse hooded trucks of the “B” range.

It included a large number of options (from “ВВ” to “ВХ”) with a lifting capacity of 1-8 tons with engines with power from 57 to 128 horsepower, equipped with four or five-speed gearboxes, a main double bevel or hypoid gear, and several wheelbase sizes and two types of cabins. During the economic downturn, Mak found itself in a difficult situation and entered into an agreement with the company RIO (REO) to sell a number of models of light and medium-sized RIO trucks under the brand name “Mask Junior or Jr.” So in 1934, bonneted vehicles “Mac Junior-1M”, “10M”, “20M”, “30M” and the hoodless “30MT” with a carrying capacity of 1-3 tons appeared.

Since 1937, a light series “2M” was produced, similar to the “Reo Speed Delivery” model and offered in several versions with a load capacity of 500-750 kilograms. This treaty ended in 1938. The appearance of its own hoodless series “C” in 1933 marked the refusal of the Mak company from outdated hood designs. More precisely, the new cars had a half-hood layout with a partially protruding engine compartment. The main models were “CH” and “CJ” with a carrying capacity of 5.5-7 tons and engines with a power of 108 and 117 horsepower, respectively. Since 1936, their new engines began to fit completely under the cabin, and for repairs they were pushed forward along special guides.

In the same year, production of the new “E” series began, which included more streamlined vehicles of various designs and layouts. It included an “ED” pickup truck with a six-cylinder “Continental” engine of 67 horsepower, “EB” and “EC” wagon-type delivery vans, “EN”, “EE” and “EF” bonneted trucks. gross weight 5.5-8.9 tons with 6-cylinder engines with a power of 70-90 horses, five-speed main and two-speed additional gearboxes, hydraulic brakes and identical cabins with a solid windshield and round wings. In 1937-38, the “E” series was replenished with heavier variants (from “EG” to “EQ”) with a total weight of up to 18 tons and engines with a capacity of 78-100 horses.

The cabover group of the “E” series with a gross weight of 5.5-10.6 tons included almost all base vehicles with an additional letter “U” in the model index, for example, “EEU”, “EFU”, “EGU”, etc. Since 1937, instead of the “AC” and “AR” models, the production of the heavy bonnet “F” series with a chain drive began. Since 1938, it included models “FG”, “FJ”, “FK” and “FP” with a total weight of 15.9-22.7 tons with engines with a power of up to 117 horses, as well as heavy three-axle tractors “FCSW” and “FC6” ” for towing trailers weighing 30 - 50 tons, respectively. On the F series, Cummins and Buda diesel engines were more widely used.

In the fall of 1938, at the New York Auto Show, Musk presented its first six-cylinder four-stroke diesel engine “ED” (8510 cm 3, 131 horsepower) with direct injection and the block head of the “Lanova” system. In 1939, the first mining dump truck appeared in the Maka program - a thirty-ton “FC” (6x4) with a 6-cylinder gasoline engine(185 horsepower). In 1940, the “L” series was introduced, which was conceived as the basis of an extensive family of long-haul tractors and special chassis. At first it included trucks “LF”, “U” and “LM” with new 6-cylinder gasoline engines“EN” and “EO” (119-142 hp), as well as Cummins diesel engines.

With the beginning of the Second World War, the company's specialization became heavy army trucks and tractors: 5-ton “EN” trucks with a 6-cylinder gasoline engine of 110 hp, all-wheel drive one hundred and fifty-nine horsepower “NM” and “NO” flatbed vehicles ” (6×6) with a carrying capacity of 6-7.5 tons, tank carriers and “EXVX” (6×4) with a carrying capacity of 10-18 tons with its own diesel engine (123-131 hp). IN total During the war, Mak manufactured 26 thousand military trucks, as well as fire trucks, torpedo bombers and transmissions for tanks.

In the second half of the forties, Musk stuck to previous developments, releasing pre-war models and beginning a long search for his own style. The first new series “A” appeared only in 1950 and a year later was offered in hooded versions from “A-20” to “A-50” with a total weight of 7.7-20.4 tons with gasoline 6-cylinder low-valve engines “ Magnadyne" and overhead valve "Thermodyne" with a capacity of up to 160 horses. The heavy models “A-51T”, “A-54T” (4×2) and “A-54S” (6×4) used the new “END-510” diesel engine with a “Panova” block head. These cars were not in high demand, so the trucks that saved Mac from bankruptcy at that time are considered to be the cars of the last pre-war L series.

Since 1947, heavy trucks “LV” and “LY” have been added to the previous models, as well as long-haul truck tractors “LFT”, “LFSW” and “LTSW” (6×4) with a new 160-horsepower “Thermodyne” engine, 5 or 10 speed gearboxes. The “LMSW-M” model was an off-road dump truck or truck tractor for a 45-ton road train. The three-axle tractor “LRSW” was equipped with a “super-reliable” rear drive wheel drive “Planidrive”, consisting of a set of roller chains, and could work as part of a road train with a total weight of 85 tons. On its basis, a thirty-four-ton mining dump truck “LRVSW” was produced.

The situation improved markedly in the spring of 1953 with the advent of the bonneted “B” series with a streamlined all-metal cabin and tail. The first models were the “B-20” and “B-30” in 1953-54, with a total weight of 7.7-9.5 tons with a Magnadyne engine, five or ten-speed gearboxes. But the most widespread was the B-42 truck tractor. In 1956, the lightest “Musk” appeared, the B-10 pickup truck, and it was followed by a diverse and very successful family of medium and heavy two- and three-axle trucks and truck tractors that replaced the “L” series (models from the “B-53” to “B-773”) with a total weight of up to 28 tons.

From this range, “Mak” switched to the primary use of diesel engines (up to 75%) and multi-stage “Triplex” and “Quadraplex” gearboxes with a number of gears of 15 and 20. Over 13 years, 127 thousand “B” series cars were produced. In the fifties and early sixties, the company produced quite a lot of vehicles of search designs in small batches, but mainly the work concerned the search for the most optimal design of a mainline cabover tractor. The first to appear in 1953 was the “N” series tractor (6x4), which was offered for the next 13 years with different cab options.

Since 1962, the greatest success was the “F” series with Esonodyne diesel engines with a capacity of 180-375 horses, ten step box, a new spacious cabin with a sleeping block 1780 mm long. They were produced until 1982. In 1965, the development of the “B” series became the multifunctional “R” range with more strict forms and a folding glass-plastic hood and wings. The basic ones were two- and three-axle chassis and tractors “RD”, “RL”, “RM” and “RS” in versions “400”, “600” and “700” (140-255 horsepower) with units from different companies. In 1966, the so-called “Maxidyne” constant power diesel engine was created for them, developing 206-237 horsepower in the range of 1200-2100 rpm.

Since 1966, production of this range began at a new plant in Hayward, California. Mak's branches in Australia and New Zealand began their activities with such cars. Options for the “R” series at the end of the sixties were the “DM” chassis for dump trucks and concrete mixers, offered in the basic versions “600” and “686” (6x4) with units from different companies. They were assembled at a plant in McAngee, Pennsylvania. By the 60-70s. This also includes the production of two main components, uncharacteristic for Mak. mining dump trucks series “M” with a lifting capacity of 15-65 tons with various diesel engines with a power of up to 600 horses, as well as a short-lived passion for thirty-five-ton “Mack-Pack” 4x4 construction earthmovers with rear-mounted power unit power 450-475 horsepower, articulated frame and bottom unloading.

In 1975, using the experience of creating the “F” and “FL” series, a new cabover tractor “Cruiseliner” was built with a cab length of 1400-2300 millimeters and one of 31 engines - from the six-cylinder “Mac” (235 horses) to the “Detroit” Diesel V8 (525 horsepower), including new option Maxidine engine (325 horsepower). In 1977, the company built its most prestigious bonneted main tractor, the “RW Superliner” 6×4, with angular classic shapes and a huge square chrome grille, diesel engines with a capacity of 175-550 horsepower and a semi-automatic six-speed gearbox.

From 1985, for nine years, it was offered in the second generation “RW II” with a new sleeping compartment. Two years earlier, the former “Cruiseliner” was replaced by an even more impressive cabover tractor, the “MH Ultraliner” with engines producing up to 525 horsepower, which remained in production until 1994. In 1975, the first self-propelled concrete mixer “MMM” (8×6) with front unloading appeared in the program. Meanwhile, by the mid-seventies, the Mack company began to experience serious financial difficulties. As a result, in 1979, the French company Renault bought out 20% of its shares, and soon production of the French Midliner medium trucks began in the USA under the Mac brand, and Renault G290 vehicles began in Australia.

The cars received Renault diesel engines (175-210 horsepower), Spicer gearboxes and Eaton axles. A further aggravation of the crisis led to the cessation in 1984 of the production of the latest model of the CE fire truck and a number of expensive long-haul tractors. At that time, it seemed that Mack had decided to devote itself to improving the single DM series of construction chassis, producing numerous variants for concrete mixers in factories in the USA and Canada: DM-600 and DM-800 (4x2/ 6×4/8×4), “DMM-6006S” (6×6), “DMM-6006EX” (8×4/12×6) with a total weight of 15.8-42.2 tons.

They were equipped with 17 different diesel engines with a capacity of 237-450 horsepower, including the new “Mak E9” V8 engine (400-500 horsepower) with electronically controlled, as well as a six-speed “Maxitorque” or thirteen-speed “Fuller” gearbox. Among the heavy vehicles, dump trucks of the basic series “RD600/690”, “RD800/890” and tractors “RB600/690” with a total weight of 15-46.7 tons with engines of 253-507 horsepower and gearboxes with 5 gears also remained in production -18.
