Datsun it is before production. Datsun cars in Russia. Where is Datsun On Do assembled in Russia?

The revived Japanese brand Datsun, which belongs to Nissan, is now focused on producing budget cars. The manufacturer's first model was budget sedan Datsun on-DO, developed specifically for the Russian market. Its presentation took place on April 4, 2014 in Moscow.

The new Datsun on-DO 2019 (photo and price) is built on the basis Lada Kalina 2, and specialists from the Nissan global center located in Japan worked on the design of the model. The car received a hexagonal radiator grille, which has become a signature feature of Datsun models, large lighting equipment and a large rear overhang.

Options and prices Datsun on-DO 2019

MT5 - 5-speed manual, AT4 - 4-speed automatic.

In general, the appearance of the 2019 Datsun on-DO resembles Grant, especially in profile. But the abandonment of windows in the rear pillars visually made the already impressive stern even heavier. This makes the sedan look somewhat disproportionate and heavy.

Overall length Datsun on-DO is 4,337 mm - 77 mm more than Lada Granta, but their width (1,700) and height (1,500) are completely identical. At the same time, the trunk volume of the Datsun is 530 liters (10 liters larger than the Grant compartment), and the ground clearance is as much as 185 millimeters (when fully loaded, the ground clearance decreases to 168 mm).

The architecture of the sedan's interior is also very similar to Grant's. Borrowed from the latter steering wheel and instrument panel, climate control unit and dashboard. But the design of the front panel and the organization of the center console are designed in a different style.

For a long time, only the 1.6-liter 8-valve VAZ engine, available with 82 and 87 hp, was available as a power unit for the Datsun on-DO 2019. (140 Nm). It is paired with a 5-speed gearbox manual transmission(a version with a four-speed Jatco automatic appeared in the fall of 2016). The entry-level sedan accelerates from zero to hundreds in 12.9 seconds. (the 87-horsepower version is 0.7 s faster), and the top speed is 165 and 173 km/h, respectively.

In the fall of two thousand and seventeen, a sixteen-valve 1.6 with a power of 106 hp appeared in the line, but, unlike the original, here the main pair for it was changed from 3.7: 1 to 3.9: 1, which made it possible to reduce the acceleration time to hundreds from 10.9 (on Ladas) to 10.5 seconds. For now, the top-end engine is only available with automatic transmission, but in the future it will also be available with an automatic transmission.

Car production was established at the Volzhsky Automobile Plant in Togliatti, sales of the new product started in the summer of 2014. The price of the new Datsun on-DO 2019 in the basic Access version is 461,000 rubles, and the cost of the car in more advanced Trust and Dream trim levels starts from 493,000 and 552,000 rubles, respectively. The surcharge for automatic transmission (available only for the 87-horsepower engine) is 50,000 rubles, and versions with a 106-horsepower engine are 15,000 more expensive than the 87-horsepower ones.

  • The initial version of the sedan is equipped with a driver's airbag, electric power steering, ABS + EBD (electronic brake force distribution), brake assist (BAS), height-adjustable steering column, heated front seats and folding rear seat backs.
  • The intermediate version of Trust has two front airbags, foglights, electrically adjustable and heated side mirrors, on-board computer And central locking. And for an additional fee, such a car can be equipped with climate control and a multimedia system with Bluetooth and four speakers.
  • Finally, the top-end Datsun on-DO is already equipped with multimedia and climate control as standard, plus the Dream version sports rear electric windows and 15-inch alloy wheels. At the same time, a stabilization system, side airbags, light and rain sensors, rear parking sensors and standard system navigation with 7.0-inch color display.

To implement the model, a branded dealer network is being created, which at first was represented only in 15 cities (Volgograd, Voronezh, Yekaterinburg, Kazan, Moscow, Nizhny Novgorod, Omsk, Orenburg, Ryazan, Samara, Tyumen, Ulyanovsk, Ufa, Khabarovsk, Chelyabinsk), but over time it should cover all major cities, and the number of centers will reach hundreds.

The decoding of the name of this model also deserves special mention. According to the manufacturer, the word “DO” is associated with Japanese traditional culture and is translated into Russian as “path” (also means movement), and “on” is consonant with the pronoun “he,” which is intended to “emphasize the masculine component in the character of the car.”

In general, the name of the car can be translated as “the brand’s desire to open access to mobility and freedom of movement for everyone.”

Sales began in our country last year unusual car. The uniqueness of the Datsun on-DO model is that it is based on the Russian Lada Granta platform. In addition to the body, AvtoVAZ’s Japanese partner also borrowed engines, which were, of course, modified. The company's plans for the sale of the car included the creation of a network of car dealerships; the model will be serviced at Nissan technical centers.

Datsun on-DO belongs to the category of economy class cars and is obviously going to displace Russian and Chinese-made products, as well as used cars from Europe, in this niche.

The motives of the Russian auto giant, which, in the face of falling sales of its own products, are adding another competitor to it, are not entirely clear. In this case, it is difficult to count on growth in sales of Grants and Kalina.

Obviously in action Russian company it makes sense, and partial losses of profits from the reduction in sales of its own models will be compensated in another way.

The car was specially created for the Russian market and Japanese engineers did a good job on it. In terms of equipment, the Datsun On-DO is significantly superior to Chinese models, but the quality is not even worth talking about.

History of creation and place of production

The Nissan company has long been eyeing the Russian market, which is huge in terms of its capacity. It was for this direction of development that the Datsun trademark was revived, and a completely logical question arises: why?

The explanation is quite simple: between the VAZ Granta and Kalina there is a fairly large cluster that is not occupied by anyone.

Datsun on-DO is designed to fill this price niche. Quite a significant number of our fellow citizens have the means to purchase something better than domestic cars, but not enough to buy a Japanese car.

In addition to market prospects, considerations of prestige also played a significant role in the re-creation of the brand: Nissan did not dare to give its name budget model so as not to lose face in the segment of expensive premium cars.

Video - test drive Datsun on-DO:

Datsun on-DO is already being assembled on one of the conveyors in Tolyatti from components produced in-house and imported. Given the successful start official sales the company plans to increase production. At the same time, the production of most parts and assemblies will gradually be mastered by Russian enterprises.

Technical characteristics of Datsun on-DO

Japanese designers had a hand in the appearance of the car and managed to make it quite attractive. The Datsun on-DO model has the following technical specifications: length – 4337 mm with a wheelbase of 2476 mm, which provides the interior with sufficient spaciousness. The width and height of the car are 1700 mm and 1500 mm, respectively; in terms of ground clearance of 185 mm, the car approaches the category of crossovers.

Even when fully loaded, this is 168 mm; Japanese engineers took into account the condition of our roads. With this ground clearance The car is not afraid of high curbs and rather deep potholes on our roads.

Video - operating experience of Datsun on-DO in a taxi:

In general, the appearance of the Datsun on-DO is quite presentable for its class: modern lighting technology harmoniously fits between the headlights and a hexagonal radiator grille.

Most of all, the Russian origin is visible when looking at the car in profile; the body lines clearly give it away to Grant. To soften the impression, moldings painted in body color are attached to the doors.

The food is pretty typical tail lights collected in blocks, they are compact and not too conspicuous. In general, the appearance, as recognized by both specialists and the general public, is quite harmonious.

Interior

Regarding the interior, the designers tried to combine Japanese asceticism and Russian breadth of soul. Everything from design lines to... modern materials, differs markedly from the original source and, which is gratifying, for the better.

The interior can be called good quality, the individual parts fit well together and are well secured without annoying the passengers and the driver with noise while driving.

Video - test drive of the Datsun on-Do in the Dream configuration:

There are many interesting finds in interior design. So the interface line of the air ducts on the front panel is smoothed out. The media center and the control unit for ventilation and heating of the interior fit very well under it. The three standard rotary handles are large enough and can be operated even with winter gloves. For our harsh winters, this is a completely unnecessary detail.

The first reviews from drivers about the Datsun on-DO are quite favorable, the workplace and steering wheel are comfortable. Dashboard very informative, readings from the tachometer and speedometer are easy to read.

Interior details in the form of stands for glasses and bottles on the central tunnel do not interfere with the driver's ability to change gears.

Another big plus is the huge capacity of 350 liters.

Engine, transmission and chassis

The car is equipped with a VAZ engine, which was significantly modified by Japanese engineers. Naturally aspirated power unit runs on high-octane grade AI-95. This engine is well known to Russian car enthusiasts from Kalina.

Technical characteristics of Datsun on-DO are summarized in the table:

Modification 82 hp 1.6 l 87 hp 1.6 l

The power unit of the Datsun on-DO car has been significantly improved: it was equipped with a new cylinder-piston group and a more advanced electronically controlled injection system.

The moving parts of the engine are made of new alloys, which provide them with better weight characteristics. This made it possible to increase power and torque while maintaining the working volume.

Currently the machine is equipped with a mechanical five-speed gearbox gears and dry single-plate clutch. To control the operation of the transmission, an Atsumitec brand cable mechanism and more advanced gear shift forks made by German Shaeffler are used. The company plans to install it on a car.

Chassis The Datsun on-DO is the same as the Russian Kalina, on the basis of which it was designed.

At the front, the sedan is equipped with a classic version of the McPherson-type independent suspension. Its design includes: telescopic struts, coil springs, wishbones and stabilizers lateral stability. Rear suspension semi-dependent with two trailing arms, united by a torsion beam.

The braking system is also standard: dual-circuit with cross-distribution of forces. The front ones are equipped with ventilated discs, the rear ones are much less expensive drum mechanisms. Parking brake is driven by a system of rods and cables.

The steering is equipped with a fairly reliable and well-proven electric power steering.

Price and equipment Datsun on-DO

Achieving success in the segment of inexpensive budget cars is only possible if the consumer is offered a sufficiently large number of equipment options.

In salons official dealers The Datsun on-DO sedan is presented in three trim levels, on which their price actually depends. The names of the versions are quite traditional for the European and American markets: basic - “Access”, improved - “Trust” and top-end - “Dream”.

Video - test drive of Datsun on-DO in Trust configuration:

The most inexpensive version of Datsun on-DO costs 329 thousand rubles. For this money, the consumer receives a package that is quite rich by the standards of this segment:

  • Electric power steering, column height adjustable by tilt.
  • The front seats have built-in heating.
  • Rear seats, folding split backrest.
  • The spare parts kit contains a full-size wheel, a mechanical and a wheel wrench.
  • The braking system is equipped with , BAS and EBD.
  • Safety systems include an airbag for the driver and a fastening system child seat Isofix type.

The improved equipment of the Datsun on-DO, in addition to the above options, is equipped with:

  • central locking with mechanical control;
  • on-board computer;
  • for a passenger in the front seat;
  • fog lights mounted in the bumper holes;
  • interior elements in the cabin are chrome-plated.

In this version, the car can be purchased at official dealer showrooms for 359 thousand rubles.

The richest configuration of the Datsun on-DO model, in addition to all the equipment mentioned above, is equipped with the following devices:

  • a media center capable of reading information from SD cards and USB devices and;
  • the car has undergone audio training and is equipped with four speakers;
  • the ignition key is a remote control remote control for central locking;
  • The rear doors have power windows with electric drive;
  • light alloy of original design.

This car is offered to the Russian consumer for 475 thousand rubles. The list of options that are offered at additional cost includes:

  • navigation system with TFT monitor diagonal 7 inches;
  • in the back;
  • rain and light sensors;
  • additional side airbags;
  • heated windshield;
  • stabilization system.

These options are offered in all car dealerships of the manufacturer's official dealers. Based on the results of the first months from the start of sales, the Datsun on-DO car is in quite high demand. This state of affairs is facilitated by large selection versions, rich equipment and relatively low prices.

Datsun on-DO forum and owner reviews

A little time has passed since the car went on sale, but it was enough to form interest groups online. Several popular forums for Datsun on-DO owners have appeared on the Internet, within which there is quite an active discussion of the car.

The most reliable information about the car is at Russian version manufacturer's web pages. The official website of Datsun on-DO (LINK) contains data on technical characteristics, configuration options and prices. The design of the resource is quite laconic, apparently reflecting the Japanese penchant for a certain asceticism.

In contrast to this source of information, an unofficial Datsun on-DO and mi-DO club (LINK) has been created, where there is an owner forum, a technical page, and the latest news.

The site has several thematic sections, which contain a lot of useful information about the experience of servicing and operating a car. This resource seems extremely useful and interesting.

At the end of last year, two portals merged: the unofficial club described above and the Datsun on-DO forum in Russia, where owner reviews had previously been published. The network address of this resource is datsunfan.ru/forum. The combination of two sites greatly expands the audience of users and provides them with greater opportunities for exchanging data.

Sales of the new sedan in our country began relatively recently, but this time was enough to form the first most correct impression. A test drive of the Datsun on-DO model was carried out not only by specialists and journalists, but also by a fairly large group of newly-minted owners.

During this time, quite a lot of experience in operating the car has been accumulated, allowing us to draw more or less objective conclusions.

Video - reviews from Datsun on-DO owners:

Based on reviews from car owners, the car turned out to be successful. Workplace The driver is beyond praise: the seating position is comfortable, the range of adjustments is large. There is also enough space for passengers both in front and in the rear.

The only thing that raises some complaints is the rather weak sound insulation of the cabin, but our fellow citizens have learned to cope with such problems on their own.

In terms of driving characteristics, Datsun on-DO, according to experts, showed quite acceptable results. Dynamic characteristics Not bad for its class: acceleration from a standstill is quite brisk. When unexpectedly overtaking, the power reserve is sufficient and it is quite possible to do without switching to downshift and spinning up the engine to its limit.

The suspension of the Datsun on-DO is a bit stiff, but on the other hand, it provides better handling on roads with mediocre surfaces.

Electric power steering provides good maneuverability at low speeds. When cornering, the car behaves quite well even at significant speeds.

Both experts and car owners express a unanimous opinion - the model has great potential.

To summarize, it should be noted that the Datsun on-Do, according to customer reviews, has managed to occupy a special position in its class. High technical characteristics, affordable prices for a wide range of consumers and a large list of options significantly increase it competitive advantages before analogues.

Mirror DVR Car DVRs Mirror

At one time, Kalina’s conveyor belt became a real breakthrough domestic auto industry. In fact, for the new product under the Lada brand, a separate plant within the plant was built according to the most current patterns: completely new and truly modern welding, painting and assembly complexes. The robotic welding lines were supplied by Kuka, and the fully automated painting complex was supplied by Eisenmann. It turned out bright, clean, technologically advanced, the quality of parts and the level of assembly have increased. And, to be honest, at that time Kalina seemed to be a very high-quality and modern answer to the global automobile industry.

However, over time it turned out that the berry was not ripe enough. Over time, the budget Granta was released as a thoroughly redesigned version, and a little over a year ago the turn of the update reached Kalina itself (details in the material “”). And now on the assembly line where Kalinas and Grants are assembled there is a new neighbor, Datsun on-DO. The material “” tells about the key features of the new product. But those are the first sensations from new car, and now it’s time to evaluate how Russian hands will assemble the Japanese sedan.

What were the Japanese able to teach the VAZ workers? Much. The Russian-Japanese team took the original Lada Granta and carefully assessed the quality of this car. There were 10 serious problems that customers are not willing to put up with: the gearbox is noisy, the doors don’t close well... Eight problems from the list were immediately solved, and two (I wonder which ones?), according to the engineers, turned out to be “not too critical.” Next, they compiled a second list entitled “How should Grant be improved so that the car becomes of better quality and seems more expensive?” Again ten points, but now all ten have been completed. This is how on-DO was born.

The Japanese have minimal complaints about the hands that he-DO collects. Either the massive layoffs have had an effect - people are simply afraid to mess things up for fear of losing their jobs, or the fruits of the work begun 3 years ago to introduce a common quality system for the Renault-Nissan alliance have ripened. Before a freshly assembled car goes to the finished product site, it has to go through 24 quality control posts, and, according to production manager Igor Bakulin, “the employees are seriously motivated not to miss any defects.”

But Bo Andersson taught the workers of the Togliatti auto giant even more. When the Swedish-born manager first came to AvtoVAZ, the first thing he did was conduct an audit of the factory toilets. And he was extremely surprised: “What kind of production culture can we talk about if our employees are not able to relieve themselves accurately?!” the Swede was indignant. In turn, the VAZ workers were surprised at the cleanliness of the new president: the entire conveyor belt froze when Andersson bent down to pick up a cigarette butt that had been specially thrown before his arrival. President! Picks up cigarette butts!

Six months have passed. Middle and senior managers are already accustomed to daily meetings: at 7 am the Swede demands a clear report on quality, volumes and costs. Reports are given, questions are asked, discussions take place. In general, instead of a whirlwind of documents, there is live communication and real work. And ordinary workers are accustomed to the fact that the president can suddenly appear on the assembly line and see how you - yes, you personally! - secured the steering wheel or adjusted the door trim. We also got rid of the devastation, excuse me, in the toilets. I checked and the restrooms for the conveyor operators are clean. Can we do it whenever we want? More precisely, when they force you to want it.

There seems to be less devastation in our heads too. At least, with the arrival of “Uncle Boo,” as Andersson is secretly called at the plant, quality indicators immediately increased by 25%. Although, of course, a reasonable question arises: have indicators or quality increased? I'd like to believe it's the latter. Moreover, the head of the Kalinovsky conveyor, Igor Bakulin, proudly noted: “The defect rates are within tolerances! What are the permissions?! Serious problems have practically ceased to occur!” A bold statement. In general, Togliatti residents have become much bolder: if earlier the engineers seemed to make excuses when giving tours of the plant, now they speak confidently, even impudently.

And this is by no means ostentatious confidence: the VAZ people now sincerely believe in their product - after all, the Japanese trust them. Many thought that, despite the common conveyor, separate posts would be organized for the Japanese sedan - for example, additional quality control - but we saw with our own eyes that Datsuns and Grants are assembled in exactly the same way. According to representatives of both brands, the quality is equal. “We have no room for error,” repeats Datsun CEO Vincent Kobe. - If the consumer finds shortcomings, it will jeopardize the success of the brand in the market Russian market. We can't allow this! Therefore, we carefully monitor how AvtoVAZ makes our cars.”

The recently announced price tag proves that the Lada Granta and Datsun on-DO are cars of the same level. The basic Access version, which offers electric power steering and steering wheel height adjustment, heated front seats, folding rear seats, ABS, as well as a driver airbag and an Isofix child seat mounting system, Datsun is available for only 329 thousand rubles. For comparison, a similarly equipped Granta costs 324,400 rubles. But! In the list of equipment Russian sedan there is no ABS, but it is 5 “horses” more powerful (87 hp versus 82 hp).

At the same time, the on-DO has a slightly larger trunk, better sound insulation, more “thoroughbred” suspension and steering settings (the latter is from the words of the car’s creators, since the driving presentation is scheduled for early autumn)... And the appearance of the “pseudo-Japanese” is a little fresher. And the brand management also promises more high level service: they say, managers of car dealerships, of which only 25 will open at first, will be more polite, and the service will be of higher quality. Terrible thing! With this approach, it is better to choose Datsun than Kalina or Grant...

I don’t want to cause panic, but believe me, these prices won’t last long. As soon as the public tastes the newly minted Asian, the Russian representative office will immediately rewrite the price tags. And everyone seems to understand this: during the “production” presentation, on-DO was certified exclusively as a “more expensive alternative to Grant.” Agree that it is impossible to be a “more expensive alternative” with the same price lists. However, we don’t yet know how much the “stuffed” versions of Trust and Dream will cost - details will be announced next week.

So Lada Granta and Datsun on-DO will differ in prices and nuances. Because both cars consist of almost identical parts and are assembled with the same hands. And these hands seem to be growing from the right place. Because AvtoVAZ is changing before our eyes: “Have you found the answers to your questions?” - VAZ engineers constantly asked me. Although just 12 months ago, the Tolyatti auto giant showed itself to be an impregnable block, where finding answers to questions was useless (details in the material “”). Is openness a sign of honesty? And confidence. In yourself and your cars.

About the Datsun brand

In March 2012, Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. announced her return Datsun brand, the company's third global brand along with Nissan and Infiniti. The Datsun brand will offer modern, reliable and affordable products to optimistic, active buyers in growing markets. Datsun builds on eight decades of Japanese automotive experience and is an important part of Nissan's DNA. The start of sales of Datsun cars in India, Indonesia, Russia and South Africa is scheduled for 2014.

Datsun brand history

The roots of the Datsun brand go deep into history.

The first car, called the DAT-GO (“DAT Car”), appeared in 1914. DAT is an acronym consisting of the initials of the businessmen who financed the creation of this car - Den (Den), Aoyama (Aoyama) and Takeuchi (Takeuchi). In addition, this abbreviation was consonant with the Japanese word for “alive, mobile.” In campaigns to promote the brand on the market at the beginning of its history, this acronym also stood for Durable, Attractive and Trustworthy.

Nissan

In 1933, the business passed into the hands of Nissan founder Yoshisuke Aikawa, who proposed the concept of “a car for everyone.” Introduced in the early 1930s, lightweight, economical and maneuverable cars aimed at the younger generation of Japanese residents were called Datson (son of DAT). This name was subsequently changed to Datsun. The development of models taking into account the needs of local markets and their mass production turned the dream of the brand founder into reality.

The advantages and disadvantages of the Datsun on-DO 2018-2019 in a new body were identified based on reviews real owners. More detailed pros and cons of Datsun on-DO with manual and automatic can be found in the stories below.

Owner reviews

The impressions of a car worth half a million spoiled six months later, when rust began to appear on all four interior doors. Next are the sills, today I discovered rust on the inside of the front hood. In general, iron rots earlier than Soviet Zhiguli, which began to rot after 3 years of operation.

Video review

The car is worth the money, but only in 2014. The quality has not changed over time, but the price has increased significantly. This is not my first car, I had 2 fours, a VAZ 2104 and a VAZ 21111. Of course, in terms of comfort, the Datsun He-DO is better, but in terms of assembly and painting, I have never seen anything worse. The whole interior is rattling, the paint is falling off in layers, the dealership is rude and doesn’t accept complaints, blaming everything on the owner.

Kuzma Gerasimov, drives a Datsun on-DO 1.6 (87 hp) MT 2014

It’s a normal car, I haven’t changed anything except the oil in 60,000 km. The car works in taxi mode all day long. I rode off the winter with a bang, starting up without problems, the signaling system is original without the car factory, I change the oil every 10,000 km, I only used 5/40 synthetic Nord for myself in Belgium.

Kurt, drives a Datsun on-DO 1.6 (87 horsepower) MT 2015

I have it DO in the Trust configuration, I took a VAZ 2114 as a replacement. I was pleased with the power steering, lighting, trunk volume. The dynamics are not bad. At the second thousand kilometers, the engine fault light came on on the dashboard. The mileage is already 9,000 km, the fault has not shown itself in any way. I use it in St. Petersburg, I drive along the Ring Road. It behaves very unstable at speed - it sways noticeably left and right. If there is rutting, then you can generally lose control.

The side windows don't go all the way down. The interior mirror is poor - you can’t see anything, you can’t change it to a panoramic one - the sun visors are in the way. There is not enough turn signal in the mirrors, the turn signal buzzer is tiresome, you have to turn on the turn signal just before a turn, just to listen to it less. With sharp acceleration, especially with slipping, the engine can suddenly drop speed to the minimum, which when overtaking and especially making a left turn at a traffic light can cause an accident.

Sergey Fluerar, review of Datsun on-DO 1.6 (87 hp) manual 2015 model year.

Where to buy?

I bought it in January 2017 in the Dream 1 configuration. It’s quite a worthy device (after the VAZ 15). The gearbox hums like everyone else, the brake pads whistle, the heater malfunctions (it blows in the wrong direction in auto mode).

Consumption is still in the running stage and only in the city - 12.5 liters. I liked another feature - foam rubber in the left center deflector - supposedly a technological feature. I also noticed that the taillights and fog lights fog up in cold weather after washing. In cold weather at -30 degrees, there is not enough force to open the rear left door; you have to help with your hands.

Review of Datsun on-DO 1.6 manual 2016

So far the impressions are only positive, I have only had the car for 2 weeks, and so far I have driven 300 km. The car is running in, and I’m also getting used to it. I can say that the engine and gearbox pair work well. The climate is very cool: the weather was from +15 to +28, and it works at “5”.

The ground clearance is good, especially on our rough roads. The suspension pleases with the balance of hardness and softness, it definitely earns a “4”, a kind of average. I'm getting used to the steering wheel. Datsun has it-DO and it is electric. I would rate the capacity and maneuverability as a solid “5”.
