A two-liter 135-horsepower turbodiesel with 320 Nm of torque is also available for the European market. This engine is offered exclusively with a 6-speed manual transmission.

Petrol models are available in SZ3 or SZ4 2WD format ( front wheel drive) or 4x4 SZ5 with variable/automatic all-wheel drive. Previously, the all-wheel drive version came only with a manual transmission; after restyling, an automatic was offered for it.

It is noteworthy that the SX4 is assembled in Japan and Hungary. The differences between these versions come down to minor details. The "Hungarian" has a back rear seat folds in a ratio of 60:40, while the “Japanese” can only be folded entirely. The ground clearance of the Hungarian-assembled all-wheel drive SX4 is 10 mm higher and is 185 mm (the Japanese version is 175 mm).
