Asx ground clearance. Technical characteristics of the Mitsubishi ASX crossover. Car appearance: luxury and power

Crossover Mitsubishi ASX– a slightly belated response from the “three diamonds” to the supersonic growth in demand for compact all-wheel drive station wagons with an "off-road appearance". The main features of cars of this class are the price of the top-end configuration, equal to the base price for “regular crossovers”; the presence of front-wheel drive versions, as well as compact dimensions. The ASX has it all in abundance.

Prices for the most compact Mitsubishi crossover start at 729,000 rubles for a front-wheel drive car with a 1.6-liter engine and a manual transmission (no other transmissions or drive systems are available with this engine). The standard equipment has a minimum set of benefits: front airbags for driver and passenger, ABS with EBD, air conditioning, electric windows and mirrors, heated seats, CD radio with MP3, adjustable steering column (height and reach), 16-inch steel wheels with full size spare tire. For a compact car the equipment is not bad, but for a crossover costing 700+ thousand this will not be enough.

The price of the Mitsubishi ASX in the test configuration, generously enriched with basic options, is close to the base price of crossovers - 929,000 rubles.

Automatic transmission(variator) is available with 1.8- and 2.0-liter engines, and there is no alternative. Moreover, only all-wheel drive is offered with the top-end engine at a minimum price of 1,039,000 rubles. Most likely, customers will be most interested in more affordable front-wheel drive cars with manual and automatic transmissions due to more balanced versions in terms of price and content. That is why we chose for testing a 1.8-liter single-wheel drive crossover with a CVT in the Intense S10 version (for 929,000 rubles). This version differs from cheaper ones in the systems of directional stability and traction assistance, side airbags and curtains, as well as a driver's knee airbag, alloy wheels R16, info display, leather steering wheel and automatic transmission selector knob.

The ASX wheelbase is the same as that of the platform donor - Outlander - 2,670 mm.

The interior of the ASX is unpretentious, almost identical to the Outlander, on the basis of which it is made. The same steering wheel, the on-board computer screen between the speedometer and tachometer, the center console with a radio and “circles”-knobs for the air conditioner, seats... But the steering column is now adjustable not only for tilt, but also for reach - it’s much easier to sit comfortably. (True, I would like to see more of a reach - two centimeters). Rear passengers are provided with ample knee and foot space, and only tall rear passengers will find the roof too close...

In motion, the Mitsubishi crossover is a rather contradictory nature: it was not particularly inspiring on the asphalt, but it fully opened up where the smooth surface ended. Firstly, even off-road the ASX remained pleasant in terms of comfort. The suspension here is the same as on the Outlander, but the AESX is not as rigid as its older relative, and thanks to the lower weight, it seems that the energy intensity of the shock absorbers has become higher.

The Mitsubishi ASX ground clearance is the envy of real SUVs: 215 mm!

The crossover's ground clearance is truly off-road. With such characteristics, even on front wheel drive car It’s not scary to go to land that has been dug up, as if by artillery shelling. But to my surprise, even the one-wheel drive ASX coped with hanging one drive wheel on an incline. We specifically tried to overcome a large hole, driving through which with the rear wheels, the front right wheel simply had to leave the ground. But thanks to the exchange rate stability system, which redistributed the moment to the wheel with the best grip, the ASX slowly and sadly overcame the obstacle!

And on the highway, a 1.8-liter engine and a CVT are not an ideal tandem. Fast driving and dynamic acceleration require the selection of higher speeds, and, accordingly, maximum sound pressure on the driver and passengers. And if the vibration insulation of the cabin is high, then excess noise gets inside. If the smooth running of a car is a positive quality, then sluggish and leisurely accelerations make you look at other engine and gearbox options. The ASX with the 1.8 engine and CVT accelerates to 100 km/h in 13.1 seconds. A car with a two-liter engine and a CVT takes 11.9, and the minimum volume 1.6 with a manual transmission does it in just 11.7 seconds.

Mitsubishi ASX can be called a real veteran. Worldwide sales of the first original generation started back in 2010 and continue to this day. Since then, the model has been updated several times. The latest, already third, restyling was released on February 12, 2019 on the catwalks of the international spring Geneva Motor Show. He received the most dramatic changes. Models in European specification will be equipped with a trimmed range of units, a more modern multimedia system, as well as a new exterior in the current this moment, corporate key. It’s easy to distinguish the restyling from the pre-reform model. It has a completely new front end with Dynamic Shield styling. What catches your eye is the unusual two-story layout of the headlights, the radiator grille with two large raised ribs and the ribbed protective trim under the central air intake. The stern, in turn, received two-color brake lights and a more prominent rear bumper.

Dimensions

Mitsubishi ACX is an urban five-seat compact crossover. The exact dimensions of the updated version have not been specified, but we can say with complete confidence that they will not differ significantly from the previous model. It measured 4295 mm in length, 1615 mm in height, 1770 mm in height and 2670 mm between the axles. Ground clearance is average by the standards of this class. There is about 195 millimeters between the bottom point of the bottom and the ground. It is noteworthy that the car is based on a platform known as “Project global”, designed back in the early 00s. Despite its advanced age, it still meets modern requirements, and also forms the basis of Lancer and Outlander. The suspension has a classic, completely independent structure for this segment - McPherson struts and a multi-link system. As for the size of the trunk, it is slightly less than average and amounts to 384 liters when loaded under the overhead parcel, taking into account the raised seat backs.

Specifications

The manufacturer stated that the updated Mitsubishi ASX for the European market received only one single engine. Previously, it was intended exclusively for older versions. This is a two-liter in-line naturally aspirated petrol four MIVEC2. She has two camshaft, multi-point fuel supply and a proprietary variable valve timing system. As a result, the engineers managed to squeeze out 150 Horse power at 6000 rpm and 197 Nm of torque at 4200 crankshaft revolutions per minute. A five-speed transmission will be offered. manual transmission gears or variator INVECS3-III. All-wheel drive or front-wheel drive. Depending on the version, the car reaches a hundred in 9.6-11.7 seconds, is capable of accelerating to a maximum of 191-194 kilometers per hour and consumes about 7.7 liters of gasoline per hundred kilometers in a mixed cycle.

equipment

After restyling, the Mitsubishi ASX color palette will be replenished with three new positions: Sunshine Orange, Red Diamond and Oak Brown. The main change in the interior is the enlarged screen of the new multimedia system. In the previous version, its diagonal was 7 inches versus 8 in the restyling. Moreover, it features new software for synchronizing with Smartphone-link Display Audio smartphones. For an additional fee, you can order advanced navigation system TomTom5, updated via the Internet.

New Mitsubishi ACX 2019 model year available Russian buyers now. After some absence of Mitsubishi ASX on the Russian market, the car appeared in a slightly modified format. True absence domestic assembly make the cost of the car somewhat inflated. Especially compared to competitors that are produced in Russia.

Initially, the ACX was brought to the Russian market from the USA, but this was possible at a dollar exchange rate of 30. But today, American production is closed and the model reaches our dealers from the Japanese plant in the city of Okazaki. Today, Mitsubishi probably regrets that at one time they did not organize the assembly of the crossover in Russia. But this train has left, but more far-sighted automakers understood everything in time and today are reaping the fruits of their foresight in the growing car market.

Appearance ASKH 2019 model year experienced minor changes. In general, the model has not changed significantly for a long time. Significant restylings were carried out in 2012 and 2015. After the last upgrade Japanese crossover received its own X-face with chrome inserts, a different radiator grille and a new bumper with LED optics. At the rear there is a stylized bumper with an aggressively sporty look with an additional strip of LED brake light and reflectors in the form of “[” and “]”. The Japanese refreshed the design without much investment. Among other things, there were wheel disks original design. IN maximum configuration, these are small 17-inch wheels for these days.

Mitsubishi ASX interior immediately takes us back to the history of creation of this car. Quite a lot of familiar elements, but some have only just appeared. In particular, a completely new lining of the central tunnel with a different arrangement of buttons and cup holders. But the advanced multimedia Mitsubishi Connect with a seven-inch display and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functions has not yet reached us. IN top trim levels a glossy black panel in the center console, a large armrest and transmission control paddles. Dealers insistently explain that you are overpaying for the real thing. Japanese assembly, but the outdated interior is clearly putting buyers off. It’s quite strange when cheap fabric chairs are more comfortable and have excellent lateral support, but leather chairs cannot boast of this.

The luggage compartment doesn't hold much. Which is not surprising, given the compactness of the body. The official website tells us that a full-size spare wheel is available. But in fact, on some versions under the trunk floor you will find only a modest stowage.

Technical characteristics of Mitsubishi ACX 2019

In Europe, the main power unit is diesel engine, in the USA 2.4 liter naturally aspirated. In our country, they offer only two versions of gasoline engines: 1.6 and 2.0 liter units with a capacity of 117 and 150 horsepower.

As for the transmission, it is a 5-speed manual or a continuously variable CVT. The drive is either front-wheel drive or full All-Wheel Control with connection rear wheels. The manufacturer is not going to make any serious technical achievements. After all, the ASX is in its final stages of life. And investing money in an outgoing model is quite stupid.

The steering has electric amplifier. Fully independent suspension on MacPherson struts at the front, the rear has a multi-link design. Disc brakes on all 4 wheels, while all 4 discs are ventilated.

Another update that has not yet reached us is the presence of advanced electronic assistants. Such as adaptive cruise control, forward collision avoidance and lane control systems, automatic shifting high beam, rear view camera and improved sound insulation. The Russian specification can only please
Hill Start Assist (HSA) and ASTC Dynamic Stability Control.

The small Mitsubishi ASX crossover was introduced to the European market in 2010 at the Geneva exhibition. Since then, the model has undergone minor external changes. However, the general profile, similar to the Lancer X (the car was developed on its basis), has been preserved. At the same time, the older brother Outlander was completely transformed.

For sales in the Russian segment, the car is assembled at factories in Japan. It is this feature that ensures excellent quality and safety. If we talk about technical characteristics, then for Russia the model comes in three variations gasoline engine: 1.6; 1.8; 2 liters. On the European market you can find a diesel engine.

The driver should be very pleased 20 cm clearance between the body and the road. Declared Clearance Mitsubishi ASX equals 195 mm. Both all-wheel drive and front-wheel drive modifications are produced. It is worth noting that all-wheel drive is available only in the maximum engine configuration.

Externally, the car is very similar to another model of the company - Lancer X, especially when viewed from the front. The developers of the car took a lot of ideas and characteristic features from a sedan. The first thing that immediately becomes noticeable is the large trapezoid-shaped radiator grille.

Attention! Recently a restyled version was released, which added daytime led lights.

All Mitsubishi parameters

Dimensions of Mitsubishi ACX:

  • Body length - 4 m 29.5 cm;
  • Width - 1 m 77 cm;
  • Car height - 1 m 61.5 cm (including roof rails 1 m 62.5 cm);
  • Body weight - 1 t 870 kg;
  • The distance between the two axles is 2 m 67 cm;
  • Mitsubishi ACX trunk size - 384 liters (+ spare wheel in full size);
  • The tank holds 63 liters in the front-wheel drive version and 60 liters in the all-wheel drive version;
  • Tires for Mitsubishi ACX size - 215/65 R16, 215/60 R17 or 225/55 R18
  • Mitsubishi ACX wheel size - .5JX16, 6.5JX17 or 7.0JX18;
  • Ground clearance of Mitsubishi ASX is 195 mm.

Mitsubishi ASX built on the basis of McFerson independent suspension at the front and a multi-link system with stabilizer transverse mechanisms. The car uses ventilated disc brakes on both wheels. Also in some trim levels, emergency braking mechanisms and other additions are available.

Checking the declared characteristics

Such information will be useful to people who are choosing a Mitsubishi ACX for themselves. For some, the issue of clearance is very important; a small clearance cannot always ensure the proper level of operation. The documentation for the ACX states the figure is 195 mm. However, detailed and accurate information is not available anywhere.

All measurements will be taken using a regular tape measure. First, it is worth specifying the characteristics of the model being tested. A 1.6 liter engine with a manual transmission is installed, front-wheel drive. Mounted on the car winter tires Falcen. Wheels from the factory are 16 inches. The trunk contains a spare wheel and a standard set of tools. There were no changes or modifications to the body. Essentially it's a Mitsubishi ACX basic configuration. The measured tire pressure is 2.2 atmospheres. Dimensions are made on a level concrete road.

The measurements were carried out in an unusual way. The master used a tape measure, measuring while lying on his side. This may result in minor errors. A measurement in the front showed a ground clearance of 200 mm.

Next, let's move to back Mitsubishi ACX, there is an exhaust pipe there. It doesn't stick out as much as it might seem at first glance. We measure the distance under the pipe and get the 195 mm promised by the manufacturer. The exhaust diameter was measured at the bends where the “ear” was fixed. Its diameter is 53 mm, and then the pipe gradually increases to 60 mm. The size of the exhaust projection relative to the rest of the body is approximately 15 millimeters.

One of the most painful places on most cars is the sills and corrugations. They are the ones who often catch high speed bumps. To eliminate problems, measurements were taken under the thresholds of the driver's seat. There was plenty of room for various maneuvers. The ground clearance of the Mitsubishi ASX fully corresponds to the stated characteristics. As a result, it turns out that the ground clearance throughout the body is even greater than agreed upon. The only exception is a small protrusion from the pipe. However, it does not fall below the stated 195 mm.

The fashion for parquet SUVs without a frame structure has been actively developing since 2007-2008, and soon there was a demand for such cars among people who do not leave the city. But in urban environments, large cars are not held in high esteem, and manufacturers have offered compact and sub-compact crossovers specifically for residents of megacities.

It was precisely in order to fill this niche that Mitsubishi released ASX crossover. The concept model first appeared in 2007 under the name Concept-cX. Already at that time the model looked like a serial one, but the financial and economic crisis slightly changed the plans, and the production model debuted only in 2010 in Geneva under the name ASX. The Japanese, of course, are masters of splurging and inventing big names, and the abbreviation ASX stands for Active Sport X-over - a SUV for active driving, but it’s still worth saying that Mitsubishi asx technical the characteristics really make it difficult for the already few competitors to compare with it.

Geometric parameters of the car

Like a true city dweller, the ASX has very compact dimensions:

  • length 4295 mm
  • width 1770 mm
  • height 1625 mm
  • ground clearance 195 mm
  • wheelbase – 2670 mm
  • The luggage compartment volume is an impressive 415 liters
  • tank volume – 63 l
  • unloaded weight – 1300 kg,
  • total weight – 1870 kg.

After the cosmetic update, which took place in 2013, the main dimensions have not changed. Luggage compartment became slightly smaller - 384 liters (1219 liters with the rear row seats folded) and the volume of the fuel tank was reduced to 60 liters. In addition, the front and rear bumpers were changed, more chrome appeared, and the geometry of the radiator grille changed.

Changes in technical terms: the shock absorbers were reconfigured, bushings-silent blocks were replaced and levers with increased rigidity were introduced. Mechanism hand brake is now integrated into the brake caliper of one of the rear wheels. Changes to the suspension were made due to customer feedback. Mitsubishi is placing a big bet on our market, and therefore, before updating the model, brand engineers came to Russia to communicate with the owners and a focus group.

Inside the car, the shape of the transmission mode selection puck has changed, and the navigation system has been modernized - it now supports SD memory cards.

Despite its compactness, the ASX is built on a mature platform, which has undergone many tests and is installed on the latest generation Lancer and the now discontinued Outlander XL.

Engines and gearboxes

On Russian market The model, both before and after the update, was supplied with three petrol units:

  • 1.6 liters, 117 hp. and torque of 154 Nm at 4 thousand rpm. This engine can be described as calm; taking into account the weight of the car, it does not go fast - the speedometer needle rises to 100 km/h in 11.4 seconds. But the engine is quite economical and consumes about 8 liters in city mode and 6.1 liters in highway mode. This engine was developed jointly with the Daimler concern and was installed on the Mitsubishi Colt back in 2004. Paired with this power unit was a five-speed manual transmission.
  • 1.8 liters with 140 hp (143 hp for Europe). Torque was 177 Nm at 4250 rpm. This unit was developed jointly with Hyundai and Crysler, and although it was more powerful than the base engine, it could not boast the same dynamics. Acceleration to 100 km/h is a long 13.1 seconds, and per 100 km in the city the consumption is 9.8 liters (6.4 liters on the highway). The engine's capabilities are reduced due to the non-alternative CVT transmission. Undoubtedly, such a transmission has its advantages - amazing smoothness, but you have to pay for it with mediocre dynamics with a fairly powerful engine. Another advantage of the variator is its reliability, provided that the oil is changed regularly.
  • The 2.0 liter is the most powerful ASX engine on our market, producing 150 hp. and 197 Nm of torque. This version has all-wheel drive, combined with the same CVT. The car accelerates to “hundreds” in 11.9 seconds and consumes 10.5 liters in the city and 8.1 liters on the highway.
  • due to high requirements for diesel fuel one of the most interesting power units: 1.8 liters with 150 hp and a torque of 300 Nm. It is ASX's best-selling engine in Europe due to its excellent dynamic and performance characteristics.

All-wheel drive system

The Mitsubishi company has been producing SUVs for several years, and therefore the technical characteristics of the Mitsubishi ACX are more reminiscent of the older models of the brand.

In the case of the ASX, one of the key features of all-wheel drive is the ability to switch modes. Even larger and more expensive crossovers do not provide the owner with the choice of drive; everything is run by electronics. But the compact ASX is not like that; at its discretion, the owner can enable the following modes:

  • “Auto” mode, which allows you to leave everything to the computer.
  • Front-wheel drive only mode for moving around good roads, which also allows you to save fuel.
  • There is a 4x4 Lock mode, which allows you to overcome various kinds of obstacles, and in which rear drive it is connected forcibly, and does not turn on when the front wheels slip.

ASX Options

Selecting the ASX package will not be difficult for a wide range of budgets; the price range of the model is from 699,000 rubles to 1,249,900 rubles. This price range includes 12 different model trim levels.

Model with a base 1.6-liter engine, front-wheel drive and manual transmission sold in three versions:

  • Inform 2WD - 699,000 rubles - is equipped in a spartan manner and does not even have heated front seats or any audio system, which is surprising for such a price. The only device responsible for comfort is air conditioning.
  • Invite 2 WD – RUR 779,990 – is equipped a little better and includes a set of the most necessary systems, but there are still 2 airbags, for the driver and front passenger, as in the basic version
  • Intense 2 WD – RUR 829,990 – the most expensive version for this engine, it is equipped noticeably richer: the number of airbags increases significantly, including side curtains and a knee airbag for the driver. They also appear fog lights, alloy wheels, roof rails, leather-trimmed steering wheel and gear knob and a color display on the dashboard.

The configurations for the version with a 1.8-liter engine are generally equipped in the same way, progressively, as the younger version with a 1.6-liter engine, but all have a CVT:

  • Inform 2WD – 849,990 rub. In addition to the basic elements, the version with a smaller engine includes: a dynamic stabilization system, a hill assist system, virtual gear shift paddles, heated front seats and an audio system with 4 speakers.
  • Invite 2 WD – RUR 899,990 Compared to the 1.6 Invite 2 WD, it is supplemented with the following elements: stability control and anti-slip control, hill assist system, passenger and driver side airbags, curtain airbags for both rows, knee pad driver, PTF, alloy wheels, roof rails, paddle shifters, leather steering wheel and gear knob, color display on the dashboard.
  • Intense 2 WD – RUR 969,990 It differs from the younger version in the same configuration by the presence of the following elements: exchange rate stability system and anti-slip system, hill climbing assistant, electric rear view mirror with integrated turn signals, tinted windows, gearshift paddles, cruise control, leather interior trim , electric driver's seat, lamp for rear passengers, audio system with 6 speakers, USB connector, rear view camera, rain and light sensor, climate control.

Versions with a 2-liter engine are equipped only with a CVT and a plug-in all-wheel drive. A total of 4 versions of this configuration are sold, the first three (from 979,990 to 1,099,990 rubles) are equipped exactly like the version with a 1.8 liter engine, but there is another version with the most complete optional set:

  • Exclusive 4WD worth RUR 1,249,990, which includes: xenon headlights with auto leveling, 17-size alloy wheels with a similar spare wheel, Rockford Fostgate audio system with 8 speakers and a subwoofer, navigation system, keyless entry system and panoramic glass roof.

Conclusion

It is not surprising that the ASX is very popular among domestic buyers; according to the technical specifications, the ground clearance of the Mitsubishi ASX is 198 mm, which is compact crossover simply outstanding result. The only direct competitors that can be distinguished are the Skoda Yeti and the Opel Mokka, but neither one nor the other can compete with it in off-road capabilities and do not have such impressive ground clearance. ASX sells well not only in our country, but also in Europe. Seeing this state of affairs, alliance allies Peugeot and Citroen even made their crossovers based on the ASX: Peugeot 4008 and Citroen C4 AirCross.
