NOD and SERB are directly linked to pro-Russian movements in Eastern Ukraine. Why did Beketov change his activities?

Living in Dnepropetrovsk, Gosha Tarasevich found himself literally in the center of events. He was outraged that many political figures and activists began to be taken into custody. This forced the actor to fight the opposition. Fighting for the freedom of political prisoners, Tarasevich and other leaders, without expecting it themselves, began to fight against the Ukrainian fascists.

SERB is an acronym that hides the name “South-Eastern Russian Bloc”. Although the movement was initially called radical. Despite the fact that leaders and activists had to flee Ukraine, their movement continues to develop and is still fighting the opposition in Kharkov, Donetsk and Dnepropetrovsk. Financial support and other oppositionists

All of Gosha Tarasevich’s activities are based on his own contributions. At the same time, SERB does not accept grants, which often lead to the breakdown of political movements. All activities may or may not be carried out within the framework of the law, but all of its activities are designed so as not to lead to the emergence of new political prisoners.

Tarasevich sincerely loves Ukraine, because he most of spent his life in Dnepropetrovsk. In one of his interviews, Igor said that as soon as the government changes in Ukraine, he will certainly return there. He saw in all conflict events a completely different outcome that would help avoid unnecessary war and interethnic strife.

Since the advent of SERB, the actor has been receiving threats multiple times. Liberal oppositionists, although they do not use force, often try to intimidate Tarasevich with reprisals. Beketov was repeatedly attacked by opposition members during protests in 2015.

Beketov refuses to recognize himself as a 100% politician. His main activity is acting, and the movement he created is just a way to help people stop the senseless war.

Public opinion is against Tarasevich

The SERB movement, whose activists were suspected of attacking Alexei Navalny with green paint, has been known in Russia for similar actions for several years now. He has a record of attacks on ideological opponents with feces and urine, while activists are regularly photographed with representatives of the Russian elite and the president’s entourage, and also visit the State Duma.

The history of an extremely small movement began in Ukraine in 2014: then, in March, the “Serbs” led by Gosha Tarasevich (the pseudonym of the little-known actor Igor Beketov, who starred in Moscow in the “Cop” TV series) participated in riots in Kharkov in an attempt to create the KhPR – Kharkov People's Republic. Alexander Petrunko, who is now suspected of a direct attack on Navalny, also took part in the same events.

After the failure of the idea with the KhPR, the “Serbs” (SERB stands for South East Radical Block, South-Eastern Radical Block) were forced to move to Moscow (a criminal case was opened against Beketov in Ukraine after the storming of the Kharkov regional administration), where soon, according to Tarasevich , “made themselves comfortable”, taking a place among similar pro-Kremlin activists like the National Liberation Movement of State Duma deputy Yevgeny Fedorov, as well as collaborating with supporters of Eduard Lmionov, who by that time had taken pro-government positions.

So, in particular, on April 17, 2014, Tarasevich, at a NOD rally in support of Novorossiya, said that he had arrived from Dnepropetrovsk only a week ago.

Soon, however, the activities of the “Serbs” lost touch with Ukrainian politics and completely switched to the Russian agenda. Thus, their first high-profile action was the destruction of the Boris Nemtsov memorial, “Nemtsov Bridge”. Tarasevich himself said that initially his supporters simply tied St. George’s ribbons there, and after they were removed, they plundered the memorial, after which they took photographs at the scene of the events. It was then that the movement gained its first fame.

Subsequent actions of the “Serbs” began to be distinguished by a characteristic style with dousing opponents with various liquids: from brilliant green to urine. Thus, during pickets against the war in Ukraine, members of Solidarity, activists Ildar Dadin and Vladimir Ionov (the latter was doused with brilliant green), a journalist, the same Petrunko threw a cake at Navalny a year ago, etc., were attacked with specially collected feces during pickets against the war in Ukraine.

One of the most high-profile actions of this kind was the act of Petrunko: last fall, he poured urine on photographs at the exhibition in Moscow “Jock Sturges. Without embarrassment,” saying that he saw a “spiritual crime” in the nude models. At the same time, representatives of the “Officers of Russia” also took up arms against the exhibition.

As a result, representatives of SERB have gained fame: recently they have been photographed with State Duma deputy Pyotr Tolstoy, Advisor to the President of the Russian Federation Sergei Glazyev, and members of A Just Russia. The SERB (South East Radical Block) movement was founded in Dnepropetrovsk in the spring of 2014, after the change of power in Ukraine.

The first mention of the “Southeastern Bloc” on social networks appeared in March 2014, the founders announced its participation in the storming of the Kharkov regional administration. The movement adhered to anti-Maidan ideology (demand for elements of federalization, support for the Crimean referendum, negative attitude towards Euromaidan and its participants, protests against the use of the army in eastern Ukraine, a call to boycott the May presidential elections and create a “South-Eastern Ukrainian Republic”, support for Novorossiya).

At that moment, the movement had 300 supporters and the same number of sympathizers in Dnepropetrovsk, Zaporozhye and Krivoy Rog, the leading role in it was occupied by actor Igor Beketov (pseudonym Gosha Tarasevich).

At the end of the summer of 2014, SERB activists moved from Ukraine to Russia, arguing that they feared for their safety and that the SBU had opened a criminal case against Tarasevich (according to him, the movement continues to operate in Ukraine after that). In the winter of 2014-2015, the movement switched to domestic Russian political life, fighting Russian oppositionists under the slogan of preventing a Russian Maidan.

A number of movement activists were detained by the police without initiating criminal cases; Tarasevich did not suffer a similar fate (although during one of the actions he hit a policeman). In September 2016, Tarasevich was beaten by unknown assailants. SERB's existence, according to its leader, was financed by its members.

At that time, he advocated granting autonomy to the southeastern regions of the country. The movement moved to Russia in September 2014, changing the word “radical” to “Russian” in its name. After the move, movement activists, according to them, are trying “to be useful to Russia, Novorossiya, and Ukrainian brothers who do not want to be under the Ukrofashists.” SERB members from time to time attack civil activists: in May 2015, they doused participants in an anti-war picket of the Solidarity movement with green paint, in August of the same year they attacked Solidarity activists with fists, and in October they attacked activist Vladimir Ionov, who was standing at a single picket. .

According to Znak.com, Alexander Petrunko, who allegedly attacked Navalny, grew up in an orphanage in the city of Rostov-on-Don, briefly worked as a freelance employee of the criminal investigation department, and participated in the seizure of the Kharkov administration building in 2014 on the side of the separatists.

The leader of the SERB movement, Igor Beketov, in a conversation with Meduza, said that the movement has nothing to do with the attack on the oppositionist. “Someone called me and [SERB activist identified in the video] Alexey [Kulakov] and offered to come to the FBK office so that we could film a video report. According to him, Petrunko could not be the attacker, since he allegedly went to Crimea on the eve of the holidays. At the same time, Beketov notes that there is a certain similarity between the attacker and Petrunko. “Someone cleverly framed our movement and at the same time promoted Navalny,” Beketov said, emphasizing that SERB activists are not hiding after “carrying out actions.”
